Queensland Premier Anna Bligh has recently announced to the parliament that Queensland will have new luxury trains traveling the rails between Brisbane and Cairns by 2014.
According to Bligh, $189 million will be spent to upgrade the existing tilt trains and purchase a new one, according to the Australian Associated Press.
The old Sunlander that ran along this route will be decommissioned after 45 years of service, and the new tilt train will travel at 160 kilometers per hour and will be five hours faster in traveling the route than the Sunlander was, the news provider reports.
Not only will the new trains be more high-tech and efficient, but they also also planned to be the epitome of luxury. They will feature deluxe sleeper cars, a la carte dining and flat screen televisions with movies and TV shows on demand on every seat, according to the news source.
Kiwis that are planning flights to Cairns or Brisbane sometime in 2014 might want to try the luxury travel experience that the new trains promise to offer.
