What you can expect

One of the original homesteads in the Winton region, Bladensburg National Park is steeped in history but also has the rugged beauty of rock formations as well as diverse ecosystems for the region. We visit the old homestead and shearing shed, Scrammy Gorge and Lookout and the permanent water hole.

Bladensburg was one of the original sheep stations around the Winton area in the 1870's. Part of this station was surrendered for a National Park in 1984 and a further area in 1994 - totalling nearly 85,000 hectares.
Bladensburg National Park is home to nearly every ecosystem we have in the Winton region - black soil plains with Mitchell Grass downs, riverine channel country, clay pans, jump up country, water holes etc. But it is also home to endangered animal species and is rich with European and Indigenous histories.
