Step over the threshold of the Bradford House Museum and into imagined life in late 18 th century America – the scurry of servants, the conversations of David Bradford and his clients in the parlour, the hushed chatter of ladies examining a bolt of crimson silk. Docents dressed in 18 th century clothing entertain and inform as they detail the structure itself, from its thick stone walls, original mahogany banister, and twelve-foot ceilings to its antique Chippendale and Hepplewhite furnishings. It is the doings of the Whisky Rebellion (a grassroots challenge to the newly-formed federal government), though, that provides the mystique.
