What you can expect

This is the ultimate Longreach and Winton holiday with six days to discover all the sights and insights of the region.

Stay five nights in the pioneer-inspired The Staging Post in the heritage heart of Longreach and enjoy full days of entertainment-packed activities. From riding on a Cobb & Co stagecoach through the bush to visiting a working station to cruising the Thomson River at sunset on a heritage paddlewheeler, this is the iconic Australian outback life. With a full-day tour to Winton for the Australian Age of Dinosaurs museum and most meals included, you just need to pack your Akubra hat and come!

DAY 1: WEDNESDAY
Check in after 3pm at The Staging Post 4-star heritage accommodation. Start each weekday with a gourmet buffet breakfast.

DAY 2: THURSDAY
Cobb & Co Stagecoach Experience, including the stagecoach ride on the old Longreach to Windorah post route, smoko (morning tea), a classic Australian bush film. Enjoy a billy-can lunch while you watch the Old Time Tent Show. In the evening enjoy our Starlight’s Cruise Experience on the Thomson River followed by a hearty stockman’s dinner around the campfire with bush poetry then the Starlight’s Spectacular Sound & Light Picture Show.

DAY 3: FRIDAY
Nogo Station Experience. Your Outback Pioneers host will take you on an insiders’ journey of station life, including the merino storey in the wool-sheds and a station water run by open-top, double-decker bus to spot outback animals. Finish with a Saddlebag lunch and billy-tea around the gidgee campfire. At midday, transfer to the Qantas Founders Museum to discover the early history of flight and tour the Air Park. In the evening enjoy a Stonegrill® Dining Experience.

DAY 4: SATURDAY
Winton Discovery Day Tour includes the award-winning Australian Age of Dinosaurs museum including the Dinosaur Canyon and the landmark Waltzing Matilda Centre. Enjoy lunch at the historic North Gregory Hotel and Winton sights before heading back to Longreach. A hearty Country Classics dinner awaits.

DAY 5: SUNDAY
It’s a leisurely start with a gourmet continental breakfast in your room then transfer to the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame to explore the five galleries. Relax in the afternoon and choose where to enjoy dinner for your last night in town.

DAY 6: MONDAY
Check out. Relax or explore Longreach’s Eagle Street before transferring to the train station or airport.
