What to expect: The portico and entrance to the CityLife Auckland, located on Durham Lane, is flanked by large plants in ceramic pots. Inside, more potted plants, as well as displays of colourful glassware, decorate the public areas, which are tiled in black and white. To the right of the entrance is an area of high-backed armchairs and an Internet station for use by guests. Straight ahead lie the concierge and reception desks in dark stone, backed by wood panels. |

Insider tip: The CityLife Auckland is less than 2 km from Karangahape Road, well known for its eclectic range of stores, art galleries, and eateries. Some 600 metres further along, it intersects with Ponsonby Road. Both streets have numerous cafés, restaurants and nightclubs, making them the centre of Auckland's alternative music scene and nightlife.

Conference/function room(s): The CityLife Auckland has two meeting rooms, and a penthouse suite, which can be converted for meetings. The Phoenix Room covers 70 square metres, and accommodates 70 guests for cocktails, or 18 in classroom style. The Dynasty Room is a 24 square metre boardroom with space for ten people. Both meeting rooms lie adjacent to the Zest Restaurant and Bar. The Penthouse Suite covers 50 square metres and can hold up to 50 people for cocktails, or nine in classroom style. A full range of modern audiovisual equipment is available.

Auckland is known as the City of Sails and there are many opportunities for sailing around its harbour and islands. Main Harbour (10 minutes away) offers a boat launch, motorboat rental and windsurfing, while Mission Bay (20 minutes) has jet skiing and water skiing. The Harbour Bridge (2.4 km) has a famous bungee-jump, while Sky Tower in central Auckland (less than 500 metres) has a daring adrenaline-pumping activity known as Sky Jump. The large public park, Auckland Domain (2.3 km), is ideal for walking and jogging. Aerobics classes are available at the University of Auckland and Pilates and yoga in Victoria Street, both a short walk from the CityLife Auckland hotel. The Parnell Tennis Centre (15 minutes) has squash and tennis.
Across the Harbour Bridge on the North Shore, Takapuna offers ten-pin bowling and windsurfing on Lake Pupuke (10 km). Coastal walks of 25 km can be joined at Takapuna Beach. The suburb of Bayswater offers kite-surfing and paragliding (14 km). Visitors can use the Takapuna Public Golf Course (7 km) or the Waitemata Golf Course in Devonport (10 km) by arrangement.
