Not a 4 star!
The staff were friendly, but the hotel is a bit run down and really needs a fresh coat of paint! The lift was old, tiny and rickety and not the nicest intro to the hotel! The room was spacious, but we asked to move as wanted a bath (shouldn’t have to request this on a supposedly 4 star hotel!) and even when we moved, the bath was tiny and had black mold all around it. Horrible. Breakfast was nice and great service. Location was a lot further out than thought so if you want to really experience Melbourne, I wouldn’t recommend staying in North Melbourne as there isn’t much around there. Unfortunately, with these experiences combined, I would NOT stay here again and would NOT recommend the hotel to others. I think it’s much more of a 3 star hotel and would have preferred to stay more central (to save the cost of having to get a taxi back every night!).

Bit of a hike to city centre but plenty of trams if you are not a walker.impressed with the restaurants in Lygon street.Must sees are the jail and yarra cruise.

Rydes North Melbourne should really be a 3 star not 4
the hotel was ok, but it claims its a 4 star hotel and I would only give it a 3 tops. so was dissapointed in the quality as its not the flashest Rydes I’ve been to thats for sure. the surrounding neighbourhood was a bit dodgy definately wouldn’t want to walk there at night time or alone
