Great Romantic Getaway
This was my second visit in two years and on both occasions the experience was superb. The service was very good and the hotel is very romantic. The pool is excellent as well. Great location, great views, great beds, swedish massage.

Nice vacation
wonderful old hotel, with superb service. we had some hot water problems, and the hotel moved as quickly to a similar room.

OK for a few nights
We stayed at La Valencia for 5 nights in March, 2010. We could hear the ocean from the room when we opened the window. This is not a place for families, although there were a few families (spring break)? That was annoying at the pool; this hotel is quite ’elite’ and kids splashing and running didn’t quite fit in with the atmosphere. I wouldn’t call this place ’family friendly.’ The bathroom was updated nicely, but small. We booked a partial ocean view room, which is an upgrade, but I was surprised at how small the room was. WiFi was a problem. We ended up being able to get WiFi from Starbucks a few doors down. Food was expensive but high quality. Service was excellent. The bed was very comfortable. This place would have been good for a few nights, but too small for a longer stay. An added bonus... it was ’calving season’ on the beaches of La Jolla and the mother seals had their baby seals with them on the beach!
