Excellent service. While the rooms we chose do not have shower facilities, there are 3 Onsen, one of which is just next to our room and open 24 hours. The property manager even left a note for us as we checked in after their office hour. Even brought us around to see the bigger rooms. Extremely good service. Highly recommended.
Nice and cozy hotel. Meals could be better. Location is great. Hotel staff are very kind and helpful.

Staff are friendly as a whole. Our room is next to the a store / small room for keeping those towels and entires for hot spring. This is the place where there is engine or generator for generating the hot spring. Whole day noisy even at night. Unable to sleep well as the sound non stop even though comfortable tatami and spacious room. There was mosquitoes at the surrounding area.
I like this hotel, Overall is good. Just very difficult to find the place, was turned few rounds to look for the entrance even I have picture. Entrance is a super small road which you even don't recognise there are a road.
3 onsens are all family style, not Male & Female separate. I went to 2, both are good and nice.
It's combined by few independent "house", onsen is independent small room out of the premise. It was raining, so I need to use umbrella to walk to my room after check in, open and close umbrella whenever go to onsen and return to room. But really traditional japanese style of ryokan. It will not be a problem if no raining.
All things are above average except food need to be improved. A quite far from Yufuin Station when have to carry luggage. Transport provided is recommended .
An amazing ryokan experience in Yufuin, with our own private onsen (Mokuren)... This is not your usual ryokan hotel, as we get a whole house to ourselves, with Western beds and Japanese-style living room facing the bath outside. Service was exceptional, they surprised my husband with a whole birthday cake and then prepared plates and forks for us to bring back and eat in my room. True Japanese hospitality!! We also enjoyed the dinner and breakfast spread, it was A LOT of food. Highly recommended! Location is not too far from the main Yufuin area, and about 15 mins walk from the station.
We lived in the private onsen villa. The hot spring water is hot and very comfortable. The room was old but well kept and tidy. The shower is outside and we got some mosquito bites while showering during the day. There was spider inside the room that spun a web. Breakfast the next day was a simple fare. The location was near the main street, and 8 minutes walk away from the train station. Overall the experience was good!
