"This is a classic Poirot era hotel immediately adjacent to the York railroad station. Our room was quite small but well appointed. In retrospect, I think we would have been well advised to choose a larger (i.e.; much more expensive) room. There is (was?) ongoing road construction occurring right outside the hotel which went on until nearly midnight making sleep a questionable proposition. Our room was among those closest to the site of this work. Why weren't given a room farther from this I'm not sure. The HVAC in our room was new and modern with indecipherable operating instructions. It was a chilly day when we arrived and the A/C was doing its best to make it even cooler. Finally, someone came up to switch it to heat. The next morning, it had switched back to A/C!
We had dinner and breakfast at Peachy's. Both were quite good. Especially at dinner, the service was exceptional. We enjoyed our stay at The Milner and, in spite of our complaints, would stay there again"
