Shabby chic sums up our experience. All looking clean but a little tired with things not working. Rm8 didnt have a lockable lock. Had the keys but the only security was the CClockwise turn of the knob, then the cistern handle floated and so on. Worst experience was the evening meal. Ok, BankHol Sunday last few services so everything I fancied was soldout. The only thing left that I wanted to eat was the Roast Beef. The plate looked ok but everything on it apart from the overcooked beef was soggy, been far too long under the warming lights. Surely cooking a fresh yorkshire pub should have been possible, but no, that is what they chose to serve. Just one bright spot the breakfast selection was good, but the service! Long gaps, still waiting to see what its cost me, no receipt offered.

The food was good. The room was quiet and clean, but there were some items in disepair. The toilet paper holder was falling off the wall. The cabinet in the bathroom was in need of replacement due to having gotten wet, the doors were misshaped.

This hotel is a pub with rooms above. It is a period building so has it's quirks but that adds to it's charm. Our room was spacious & bathroom was very clean. Other furnishings a little tired & electrics need updating as extension leads with multiple sockets pose a safety issue. Food was excellent & staff were amazing. Definitely would stay again as in a great location in town.

Plenty of staff, pub busy Friday night, dinner ok, bedroom nice but not able to open very high windows, bit stuffy by morning. We should’ve asked for an accessible window open room. Good shower, nice towels. Room 10.

The Fleece is a fabulous place to stay, a real country feel type pub with great rooms attached at good value prices. The welcome and check in was fabulous although the waitress at breakfast was a little off and not very pleasant so a little uncomfortable however the breakfast itself was delicious with a great menu to choose from. The room had its own entrance so didn’t give to use the pub entrance and has all the amenities you could need. It was very clean, maid service daily if required tea coffee biscuits replenished daily! Location was perfect couple of minutes walk to the centre of Witney where shops snd cafes were plentiful! The added bonus of this hotel is the free residents car park! I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Witney area.

The property has a cottage feel. The dinner menu is limited and was not a high standard. The shower drain in the room was broken and there was a loud extractor fan right outside the window which was noisy. The staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for you.

I was very impressed. A lovely room in a great location. Well appointed and equipped and immaculately clean. Friendly staff. Good food with an excellent breakfast offer. Only downside is that I stayed during a heatwave and would have appreciated either air-conditioning or a fan in the room.

Very pleasant
Apart from being a little shabby in places the room was very clean and comfortable. The staff were extremely efficient and helpful, so all in all a very pleasant stay. Lovely location as shown in the photo’s, just be prepared for the noise from the other patrons until @ 11:30 pm.

Stayed 2 nights to attend a wedding nearby. A pleasant hotel with hard working staff. The rooms appear recently updated but standard is somewhat lacking. In our room there were only a couple of hooks to hang clothes and no wardrobe and no storage which was not easy for our wedding clothes. The lighting was poor and mirrors not well positioned to facilitate using the hairdryer and applying make up. A shelf would be useful in the bathroom. The room was hot as there were no windows - only 4 velux in the eaves. Finally the shower door handle was faulty, the water in the shower tray ran away so slowly that there was an inch of water causing me to slip getting out. Lastly the toilet seat was loose and slid on the pan. Most of these issues could be resolved. The restaurant area is pleasant and was very busy. The staff worked hard and were friendly. Food was very good apart from dreadfully hard and tough toasted sour dough bread at breakfast - basic toast would be better or sharper knives!! All in all a nice hotel in a good location, but could do better with only a little bit of effort

Cold night in the Fleece…
A couple of friends and I regularly go out in Witney and this involves two of us staying overnight somewhere. We’ve been ‘regulars’ at the Fleece for years so we must like it. The rooms are really lovely and good value for money at £115 for B+B. Breakfast is really good too. Only thing that could have been better was the overall atmosphere. Witney was really quiet the other night (I’m guessing the cost of living in a biting - so not the Fleece’s fault) but the bar area was cold. I did ask them to put the heating in but they refused.

Fleece Stay
This was an overnight stay while visiting family. Hotel in the town centre over looking a lovely green and by the church. Parking in car pub or on road outside. Room was clean, warm and cosy. Would stay again.

Lovely country pub!
Stayed at the Fleece for 2 nights whilst attending an event in Witney. Didn't have cause to use the restaurant for breakfast or dinner (although I did browse the menu and it looked lovely!) but the room was comfortable, well-appointed, clean and tidy. I really liked how the room felt clean and modern but still retained that country pub charm. My only criticism is that the bathroom felt a little crammed in, but that could have been specific to my room, and I'm far from the smallest person!

Lovely little hotel in a lovely area. Room was small but cosy. Breakfast was a little disappointing. The front of house service was attentive and friendly, but it was almost an hour before our breakfast arrived. When it did arrive, on the whole it was nice, but nothing special, and it still amazes me that so called trained chefs cannot poach an egg.

5 Star Stay!
Stayed for one night at The Fleece. Staff were so lovely. We still friends and they accommodated us all for lunch. Our room was ready when we arrived at midday and it was so lovely. Really comfortable bed, lovely pillows and very peaceful.

Awful stay
This hotel/pub used to be amazing. Good food, great staff, wonderful accommodation. My stay this time was awful. The room was like a student/hostel room. Very tiny. Very basic. Hooks for my jacket that fell out of the hollow walls. I was jinxed. On the web site the room pictures look good. I ate in the restaurant. The food was ok but very expensive. My steak was the poor end of the rump. Everything at the Fleece seemed to be run on a low budget but charged to the customer as if they were delivering good quality. An experience I would not repeat. I left very ungappy and out of pocket.

Mixed feelings
The room was a little below par. The wooden sash windows let in drafts and noise, the window blinds may look nice but don’t deal with the issue. The bigger problem was the en-suite layout with the toilet crammed in beside the shower - at 6’4” I wasn’t able to access it properly and even the lid didn’t stay up on its own. On the plus side, breakfast was great and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Exceptional service
We stayed at The Fleece for a one night stay, dinner and breakfast. No request was too much. It’s rare to see customer service go the extra mile as it did at The Fleece. After calling a taxi for us, at no fault of their own the taxi was late - after chasing the company they actually ran down to the taxi rank to get one for us without hesitation or a prompt from ourselves. Our room was excellent - clean, absurdly comfortable bed and brilliant shower. What more could you want? During a very busy dinner service, every staff member was very attentive with regular drink-top-up offers. All in all, a very positive stay and would gladly stay again and recommend to all family and friends.

All good as normal - our place of choice when we need to stay in Witney. Shame the bar doesn’t stay open for residents. Brekkie really good and lovely staff.
