There has been a fortress on this site since 914 when Danish invaders erected one to defend the town of Warwick against attack. The castle was later developed by William the Conqueror in 1068. It was still being used by British nobility right up to 1978 when it was then opened to the public as a museum and attraction. At Merlin The Dragon Tower, hear the story of legendary wizard, Merlin, the protector of King Arthur.Other daily events to look out for include aerial displays by birds of prey and the raising of the castle’s Port Cullis.
