Nice concept but overpriced for what it offers. Good concept if one wants to use kitchen facilities. That is good. Would not recommend for older people, lot of stairs. No air conditioning.

Extremely difficult to locate, bed was lumpy and squeaked everytime you moved, tiny space, not as it was portrayed in the advert! Other guests were very noisy I’ll hours in the morning. Would certainly NOT recommend

Dear Geust, we have room sizes on our profile, they are accurate. Common room is quite spacy. Our reception location is displayed at the check-in information section. Unfortunately we cannot control other guests but we always take action if anyone complains.

Good Downtown location
Reception in another location under a different name and had to ask local people to phone and ask where is the reception. Had to take my luggage to 3rd floor to get the key then walk to the hotel. When I suggested to change the sign of the hotel I was told that was fine the way it was. The Expedia quality control agent which I meet on the street also couldn't find the place and we looked to find the reception together. There were drunk local people making noise all night and when I complained at 3 am was told by receptionist this was fine as they were local artist. Never again despite the nice location. Price was ok but wish I stayed somewere else as I had to board my plane without any sleep

Absolute worst hotel experience in my entire life.
I didn't make it that far. The people on the other line were so unbelievably rude. The first person I spoke to spoke english and was very polite but when I got lost and called back someone with else little to no English speaking ability did not understand me when I was trying to ask for directions. I asked her to please let me speak to the person that speaks english. In a strong accent she said with an attitude that no-one speaks English, then hung up in my face. When I tried to call back she immediately hung up on me again. Such and horrible horrible person and quite frankly she needs to be terminated from working there. I ended up cancelling and hotels.com provided me with other accommodations. All I can say is stay away! You're better off paying a minimal extra for 10 times better service.

Central apartment but difficult to find
We had great trouble finding this "guest house", although it is more like an apartment, with bedrooms leading off a communal living area. We had to ask staff at other hotels how to find and it appears that we hadn't been the only people with such problems. We should have gone to New World St. Hostel at 27 Nowy Świat St., about 200 hundred metres from the actual site of the apartment. There we received the key and directions to the apartment. To be fair, New World St. Hostel did email us with appropriate directions but we had booked this while on holiday and we usually don't bother checking emails during short holidays. It would have been better if we had known about these complicated arrangements before booking. After we eventually found the apartment, the accommodation itself was satisfactory, although there was no air-conditioning..

It's good for chill.
The single room was clean and fashionable. Plus,the Main Street where is right in front of Chmielna guest house was great. I enjoyed some local foods and street musicians so on. I recommend this hostel not only for just sleep but for staying and enjoying a good atmosphere.

lovely lively city, guest house is very close to new shopping centre and war museum and a good 20mins walk from old sq, guest house was spanking clean but all rooms are very small, and not a place u cud spend and time in, strictly showers and sleeping, bit noisy with been in main street, and collecting the keys from 1000mts away and the stairs are not for the elderly of lame, all staff were very polite and helpful

Nice hostel near the center
The staff was very helpful and they guided tp the Warsaw. The hostel was in a good place. The hostel generally and the room was very clean and nice. I would recommended to someone for his holidays.

It took hours to find the reception and bad guidance from staff never mind the bad overall attitude they had BUT, once your in your room it's not horrific. Loud noises outside but that is overshadowed by how perfectly located you are to the old and new town. Overall many complaints but once settled its not that bad

When you can find the entrance to the guest house which was extremely difficult and you navigate the steep staircase the room and bathroom, allbeit small were very clean and tidy.

Convenient, but could be improved
The room and accommodation were fine; but the overall experience was badly let down by the arrival and departure procedures. The reception in another building from which you have to obtain your key was not properly signposted. It also involved a long climb (also not signposted) up and down three long flights of stairs, which is a serious problem if you are carrying heavy bags. They could, for example, install a street-level domophone, and then bring down the keys and documentation to you - rather than having you go up and collect them while they (young people) sit comfortably behind their reception desk. It would be a simple act of consideration towards their guests.

3 day trip. To say we were disappointed was understeatment. You have to check in at a different location. There is no info of this, I had to ring them to find out were the reception was after walking the street for a hour plus, after I found the door its then up 4 flights of stairs. When I book I asked for a double bed, there was 2 single beds, not ideal for a couple. There was shared bathrooms with only 1 bathroom working between 6-7 rooms. My thoughts on the place - I book a room in the Hilton.

We are terribly sorry that you were not satisfied but you had the information about the location of the reception which is posted on our expedia profile: "Special check-in instructions: Please note that guests will check-in at the New World St Hostel's 24-hour front desk, located at Nowy Swiat, 27 (200 meters away)." If you booked twin room you had two separate beds, this was your mistake. Be advised that double rooms always have one big bed and we had no option to give you room that you did not book. There are also 2 shared bathrooms for 4 rooms, other 3 rooms have their own private bathrooms. I hope my reponse gave you all the answers. Regards Zbigniew

Maybe I missed it, but when looking at the description of the hotel I don't remember reading that it's 300 meters down the block in a different building. You don't seem to find that out until you've already booked. Fine, so I get the email telling me the address of reception, where I show up. They don't tell you reception is hidden in some apartment complex (which button do I hit to get the door open? Just push a few...) and is up *five* flights of stairs. So to check in, you drag your luggage up 5 floors, then down 5 floors, then up another 5 floors to your actual room in a different building (no elevators). This would all be acceptable if they told you before you book, but it's quite a bait-and-switch. There was also a long line at reception, so the whole process took over an hour.

Perfect location, cleanest place for a great price
The location of the hostel was a great plus in their kitty. The bed was super comfy and it was very easy to get to various other places because of its proximity to public transport. The only issue was the reception and the actual room were at two different places(about 2 minutes walk), which made it a little difficult to raise any concerns with them. Of course there were no elevators which made us carry two heavy bags on the second floor. The cleanliness at the accommodation is what really impressed me and the bathrooms (even though shared) were kept clean and they were large.

Good location, close to everything that's key to Warsaw. Services were EXCELLENT for a hostel. It's a little hard to find at first though and that fact that the hotel and reception are at separate buildings doesn't help.

Sorry to say but i don't think I will stay here again... Had to climb 3 flights of stairs with my luggage to get the key etc, the keys are kept in a hostel, then back down to walk along the street to go up more stairs! With bags it's a pain, and if was a disabled person or elderly your in trouble, this should be in the notes of the hotel! Apart from that great location etc for Warsaw, clean room etc very nice, but won't use here again

I had a pleasant stay here! Check in was easily accessible at the New World St. Hostel and the guest house was located right around the corner. It is perfect situated in the hip and happening neighborhood of Nowy Swiat next to a lot of international restaurants, shopping, and a short 15-minute walk to the Old City and the Central Train Station (Warszawa Centralna). My room had two twin beds and was exceptional! I wanted some peace and tranquility after a long week travelling and I found it! The kitchen, dining room table, and bathrooms were exceptionally clean and it was a good place to unwind. I felt like I was at my apartment back home until I realized there were seven or so bedrooms when the other guests came in.

We only stayed for one night. Once we got the key and got to Chmielna, we found that our room was not cleaned yet. I made a phone call to the reception and they came by within 5 minutes, and switched our room for a bigger and nicer room, so we were pretty happy with that:) The messy room was as big a shock for them as it was for us, but I love how the staff handled the situation. Really good, professional service! There's a nice, small kitchen with free tea and coffee, and a big refridgerator to store food in. I liked the common area and the bathroom was super nice. Would come back here!

I do not know why other reviewers said that it was confusing to find the place for the key. On the website it says that you have to pick up the key on Nowy Swiat 27 which is super easy to find (I am not Polish and it was my first visit to Warsaw) As I got out the train station I just put the address on the gps on my phone and walked there in 10-15 mins. As you get out of the train station all u have to do is take the paedestrian crossing straight ahead and keep walking straight. Dunno what's so hard. Neways and the actual Guest house it a 2-3 min walk from the hostel where u get the key. I stayed in a double room (krakow) which was very clean beds were made, bed linens were clean as well as the towel and bathroom (that is shared) and living room. They also give u a complementary pack of shower gel and shampoo. I only stayed for one night and thought the location was excellent. As it was my first time in Warsaw I thought I would need a taxi everywhere but all u have to do is walk straight down Nowy Swiat street strait into old town, which is what my friend and I did with detours along the way with whatever intrigued us. There were other pubs, restaurants and shopping to do if you walked straight down Chmielna Street. For the price and Location one should DEFINITELY stay there.

Great room. Nice location. Good choice for Warsaw
My wife and I arrived in Warsaw in July (very hot day), but had difficulty getting checked in to the room. The front desk is located a few blocks from the actual guest house, so lugging a suitcase from the central station proved a little much. The hotel room (private room w/private bathroom) was great. It was clean, well put together, and the overall effort was obvious. If you have to spend a few days in Warsaw, the bed and atmosphere is pretty good and the location to Warsaw's Novy Swiat is ideal. Aside from the initial issues getting checked into the hotel room, the room and amenities were great. I would recommend.

Finding the place was a nightmare!!!!!
I had a difficult time finding the place . It is not clear where to go. There is no clear sign for the building. It's rooms and not a hotel. It took me an hour wondering around the courtyard and asking people where is theGuesthouse. There isNO Guesthouse. You have to beg people to tell you where to go, and then you have to get the key and you can't find the place where to get the key. Finally I got the key, from the third floor walk up, and still had to wander around where to go. Then there were no signs which door to go to in the building. It was a nightmare. I was existed and all sweaty by the time I got to the room. And I speak Polish!!!! Imagine a person who doesn't speak the language. It's a terrible mess.

Dear Guest Our property is under the adress stated at the website as well as the reception. People usually can manage to find locations based on the address, it is an easy task. Our reception always explains how to get to the guesthouse during the checkin (at our hostel- Nowy Świat street no 27 where the reception is located), there is a sign at every door and there is only 1 building with an address chmielna 13. We are sorry for the stairs but finding our property is not mission impossible.

The pictures showed a room with a double bed, and a TV... However, it turned out to be a BUNK BED, and no TV... Also the bed was squeeky, the room wasn't clean (table and window were dusty). And just when it couldn't get worse, we had a SHARED bathroom/toilet/shower!

Our double bed had divided slats to support the mattress an on both sides of the bed the slats move as you move and then collapse through with very little movement. I reported this to the management on the first day of our 11 day stay but nothing was done. As a result the bed continued to fail on numerous occasions. They have had this problem before as I see 6 of the slats have been screwed down on the one side. They all need to be screwed down to avoid the movement problem. We are a 60 year old couple I cant imagine how the bed would have survived a young active in bed couple. To the management a message - This is a serious safety concern that needs to be attended to before something serious happens. Other than that the stay was fine, if you like continual busker music outside your window and the long walk up stairs to the checkin and checkout office.

Good room with shared bathroom and kitchen facilities. Both room and bathroom were very clean, but we did not use the kitchen to be able to opine on it. Internet access worked properly as well. The hotel is probably a 15 minute walk from the rail station and a 20-25 minute walk from the old town (and most sightseeing attractions, for that matter). I would say that the hotel happens to be a bit far from the sightseeing attractions, but is very well located for you to enjoy bars and eating out at night. Now, to reach the room you need to check in at a hostel a block away that is very difficult to find. Once you have the keys, you still have to find the apartment building in which the room is located (another hard task, if you ask me). So, if you rent a room at this hotel you should certainly be sure to study well how to reach it before arriving.

Staying at the Chmielna guest house was like staying in an apartment in Warsaw. The entire house was very clean. The room was decorated well. I stayed in the London room (which has a shared bath) and didn't ever have to wait to take a shower. There is no air conditioning, but the fan by the bed was cool enough. Yes, some noise does come from the street below; but it isn't bad. As other reviewers have pointed out: Having to go to the 4th floor hostel to check in is a bit annoying; but, the alternative is to pay more to stay farther from the city center.

Had a nice stay in this guest house in downtown Warsaw. Everything was perfect except that the reception desk is at 200 meters and 3 flights up the stairs away. That is fine for leisure trips, but not so useful for business trips.

Spotlessly clean room, and common areas. Some might find the street outside a bit noisy but we were OK with this as we are not light sleepers. I loved the artwork on the walls: the photo of Catherine Deneuve is one of the finest portraits I have ever seen. Overall good value for money. A minor critiscim is the long trudge up the stairs in another quite derelict building to get the keys to the room.
