A fabulous hotel/ Check in is at 4pm, no earlier!
Fabulous hotel with a couple of caveats.... Beautiful public spaces and lovely rooms. First experience when attempting to check in a couple of hours early or at least drop our luggage was met with a dismissive attitude by male front desk clerk whose name we did not get. Take this hotel at its word that check in is at 4pm and not a moment earlier.... Also there are only 4 parking spaces at the hotel which you need to reserve in advance. When we did check in around 5pm, we were warmly greeted by Laurente, who was friendly and very helpful with things to do near Vezelay for our next day. We ate at L'Eternal in the the hotel that evening and it was fantastic! The service and food were truly delightful! Also the service at the bar was fantastic. This is truly a very very lovely hotel and we would highly recommend it!

Interesting history to this old coaching inn. Obviously the rooms have had to be altered and adapted to cater for modern requirements. In spite of being on the main road through the village the traffic was no problem. Prices reflect its 4 star status. Staff were most helpful and efficient.

We stayed an extra night in advance of our Expedia booking. Hotel was very clean, staff was very professional and helpful. Hotel is a bit pricey. Breakfast buffet was very expensive and not worth it. It was large but the coffee was not warm and the scrambled eggs were cold. All-in-all because of the lack of attention by the breakfast staff, we decided to eat dinner elsewhere. We were glad we did as there are several excellent restaurants within 50 yards of this hotel; we dined at two of them.

Friendly and well located in the beautiful town of Vezelay. The gourmet menu was excellent. Wine is perhaps a little expensive. Room on the 5th floor was pleasant and had a good view across the countryside.

Nice hôtel! We had dinner there and it was excellent. The only thing that we regret is that the kettle was broken and they didn’t leave a little spoon to stir the sugar on my coffee.

The entire hotel was extra lovely. The location was perfect for the town as well as driving to other locations. The room was lovely as well as the roomiest bathroom.

A good base for Vezelay and the surroundings
Great location. Our triple bedroom had an amazing countryside view. Reception service and service overall was very friendly - maybe a little bit on the formal side. The main downside was the food. The food at the fine dining restaurant was overpriced for the quality (compared to the Cheval Blanc next door, for example), and the breakfast buffet had little choice. Also, the WIFI was a little weak.

A lovely area to spend a few days!o
A fantastic place and area in which to spend time. Great food and wine too! Only negative was insufficient cupboard/wardrobe space for hanging clothes. We spent a week in the hotel whereas it seemed to be the sort of area where people spend one or two nights before moving on. As a base for exploring the area we found everything to our liking!

Superior room was large with an enormous shower room. Very comfortable bed. Hotel is at the bottom of the road that leads up through Vézelay so great location for seeing all the sites. Ate elsewhere for dinner as didn't want to spend a fortune on evening meal. Staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. Spoke French slowly so we could understand and have a conversation.

Stunning!
Our small group of touring musicians stayed at this wonderful hotel overnight, en route from Paris to another show in Lyon. I booked the hotel based on a number of factors - price, location, facilities, etc - and the reality of it surpassed all expectations, beginning with the wonderful welcome, care and service extended to us when we checked in. The hotel is a fabulous place to stay in the incredibly beautiful place that is Vézelay. Both accommodation and location are highly recommended.

From the moment we stepped into the hotel we felt welcome. Check in was quick and friendly. The room was warm and comfortable. There was nothing else to ask for. And the restaurant was beyond our expectations.

Well located but expensive,
The family bedroom was large and nicely redone and the hotel is perfectly located to visit Vezelay but price is extreme and the staff although pleasant is not particularly useful. Not a bad experience but you pay a lot for the location.

Old Hotel, Overpriced
We were looking forward to our overnight stay in Vezelay. The hotel public spaces have been refurbished, but the rooms are old and tired. We paid for 2 superior rooms, but we're very disappointed with the worn carpets, tired beds and dated bathrooms. One room was half the size of the other room and without a balcony, yet the same price. We spoke with management, but they didn't seem to care, stating they were individual rooms and in the same price category. We were very disappointed in their indifference and lack of customer service. FYI, we stayed at a ****hotel in Strasbourg for the same price of this run down hotel in the little village of Vezelay. Very poor value and we would not recommend this hotel.

Had a misunderstanding over car parking and the high cost of breakfast ( €40 per person!!) which I refused to pay and which was reduced to €12 pp. the self service breakfast was adequate but coffee supplies ran out after first cup. Staff were pleasant however and overall stay very welcome.
