The hotel has character as I expected at an old building in Venice, but rooms are quite small so with the luggage you feel cramped. Check out time was at 11 which is standard but our train would not leave until 2:30. We wanted to check out early, leave the luggage at front desk and pick it out later but they would not do it…

Definitely no lux at the Lux. Dark, dirty, dingy. Uncomfortable bed. Cracked floor and wall tiles in the bathroom, the only thing going for this place is it’s location.

I like this hotel. The staff are friendly, and there is a good selection of food for breakfast. Can’t complain. The hotel is down a narrow street - like many hotels in Venice, so I was a bit wary at first but after I settled in I felt safe. I would stay again - very convenient walking distance for Arsenale / Giardini if you are attending the Biennale.

The location was excellent. The hotel was located within 5 minutes of St Mark's Square and the Doge's Palace. It was also just 5 minutes from a water bus terminal. The only food and drink available were at breakfast, and this was limited to croissant, bread rolls, yoghurt, coffee and tea. No room service and no coffee/tea making facilities in the room. Disappointing.

Very comfortable. Staff was helpful. Convenient and close to St Mark’s Square, restaurants,, transportation, sightseeing connections, pastry shop next door. But quiet and comfortable.

Checked in at 10pm, or attempted to. Nobody in the house. Had to call the main line and they didn't know which hotel I was calling for attention. Either way they said someone was coming. It took another ten minutes and then there was an issue with our passports. In the last ten cities in Mid Central and Eastern Europe we have not had this much trouble with any hotel. Good value for a pain in the ass.

Only thing to complain about was I had to walk to another building where we were actually staying. The hotel is separate from the building where you check in. Not wheelchair accessible. Other than that, I loved it.

The hotel was well placed and easy to get to. They kept the luggage for free, which is good for Venice, where you pay for everything! We loved the city, although it is very touristy! The city is better at night, when most day trippers go away.

In reference to your review we must declare that guest did not show any rash or an official report provided from a hospital, by a dermatologist or doctor as a proof of what he is supposing. Property checked every single corner (not even far from a quick way in doing it) inside guest's former room and explored even the inside parts of the sockets and disassembled and rebuilt the bed with no presence of any insect reported and insect signs to report.

It is okay.
Good thing is the location of hotel. It is located at a convenient place, many different types of restaurants and shops, easy to access by boats, near to famous scenes. The shower cubicle is far too small, even for a mid-size Asian man, like me. There were only two useable electrical sockets at weird place, next to the door and behind the bedside pedestal, light in the room is weak.

Room is very small, the window is high, not easily accessible and has no mosquito screen, which is mandatory. The bathroom is too small, the bath/shower is not even adult-sized, so small it is impossible to use shower curtain! Otherwise, location is good, service is excellent

It has a perfect location next to the taxi boat stop. The service was very cordial and excellent. One of the best hotels I have had the opportunity to stay in Italy.

Worth it
Great location! Close to everywhere we wanted to be and the hotel is beautiful inside. Just be prepared for stairs. The staff was kind and kept our bags for us prior to check-in. The room was clean and just what we needed. We would stay there again.

I was on the 4th floor of a separate building, with no elevator. With the heat and jet lag it was brutal to get up and down from my room. I do no recall seeing this info in my booking. This limited my trips in and out of the hotel, and I am a very physically able person.

The property is the next block from St Marks Square excellent location. In itself though it is tiny, tired and dated. Breakfast offering was limited. However there is no complaint as such as it was clean, staff were friendly and as we were out and about most of the time it was sufficient for our needs. Bonus of free luggage storage on check out day.

Hotel Lux was the perfect location. We were able to walk out the door to great views of the river with the famous gondolas and an amazing variety of restaurant options and shopping.

It was unsatisfactory room condition infested with mosquitoes the room is so dirty and it is so small and tight the bed is very uncomfortable and old the bathroom is nasty and it looks like 30 years old the staff is rude no elevator you have to drag your luggage up without no help from the desk The breakfast is actually no breakfast it’s a piece of bread and butter And yes don’t break your key in the door because my key got broken and they charged me five euros for another key And I believe Expedia should help me get my full refund

The room was unclean and some of the features I selected this property for were broken. After requesting @ the receptionists to fix, they were rude and ignored our requests. Thanks to Expedia customer services some of the items were fixed like the refrigerator, but the safety box didn’t work until the day we left. I am certain still doesn’t work. Horrible experience!!!

We just returned from Venice and stayed at Hotel Lux for three nights and our stay was fantastic! We had a marvelous room (253) in one of the other buldings of the hotel with a view over Campo SS Filippo e Giacomo. The room was beautifully decorated with green/gold wall coverings and the ceiling beams were visible which gave the room a Venetian look and feeling. The bathroom was great and had a bathtub with jets! My legs loved that after a full day of walking! The room was clean and exactly what we expected and needed. AC was available but we didn’t use it as the window can be opened. The breakfast was good and was served in a small breakfast area on the second floor in a second building just a couple of steps from our building: Two different kind of juices, water, a choice of hot beverages (tea, coffee, hot chocolate,...), milk roll, croissant, zwieback, honey, marmelade, Nutella, spread cheese, butter and two kinds of cereal. The hotel is conveniently located near Piazza San Marco and the Doge’s Palace and can be easily reached by vaporetto. All other major attractions are as well easily reachable. Venice is a fantastic place to just walk and enjoy the city. The staff we encountered was courteous, friendly, professional and efficient! We enjoyed our stay tremendously and will stay here for sure the next time we are in Venice. Mille grazie di tutto!

Despite a hiccup on a arrival ( my fault not theirs) I was allocated a room on the top floor. The hotel doesn’t have an elevator and I have a problem with negotiating stairs (of which I’d failed to notify them) my stay was a pleasant one. The gentleman on reception was very helpful and managed to move me to a lower floor the following day. Both my rooms were small but comfortable and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was a little sparse by today’s standards. Some sliced ham or cheese would have been welcome. The location, just off the Riva degli Schiavoni, is perfect for seeing my favorite city. Even with the problem of stairs I’d visit again but ask for a room on a lower floor in advance next time.

Right in the heart of Venice, your room looks over a small square filled with laughter, tourists and locals. Two restaurants and a news stand attract people from early morning to late night. This was a recently purchased apartment block converted to rooms. It was only two weeks old and everything was great. The hotel has other nearby apartment blocks like ours that it bought and converted like ours so I can’t speak as to their locations. The main hotel was full, very small and nearby. Breakfast was nothing much. Pastry, cereal, toast, a little cheese, jam and yogurt, but great cofffee.
