I traveled to Minneapolis to visit a family member hospitalized at University of Minnesota Medical Center's West Bank hospitals. The hotel was just 10 blocks from the hospital -- great location. We walked 1 block to the Green Line West Bank station and took the light rail train to downtown Minneapolis. The train makes all the important stops for outside visitors. The first stop westbound is Downtown East (VIking's Stadium), second is Government Plaza (City Hall & Hennepin CountyGovernment Center), third is the Nicollet Mall (shopping, restaurants), fourth is Warehouse District (nightlife -- clubs, bars, restaurants, etc., and Target Center for Timberwolves and Lynx basket ball), and fifth is Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins and 4 blocks from the North Loop (NoLo) restaurants, lofts, etc. Eastbound toward St. Paul, the first stop is East Bank and the east bank of the university and east bank University of Minnesota Medical Center Hospital and clinics, medical school, dental school, nursing school and college of pharmacy; and the second is Stadium Village for TCF Bank Stadium (Gophers football), Williams Arena (basketball), Mariucci Area (hockey).
the staff was wonderful......all needs met and they also did a big cook out and movies outside for all the hot rod people that stayed there during the back to 50's car show. we will stay next year too.
There is something magical about this hotel. Old-fashioned charm, yet as clean and as modern in its facilities as one could hope for. We love the quietness of the sleeping rooms. This was our second stay here and just being here was a highlight of our stay in Saint Paul.

We took a short family vacation and this hotel was perfect for us. The 2 separate bedrooms are a must with small children. They pool area was very nice. All the hotel staff members were very accommodating. Will definitely go back.
I asked for their cognac selection and he pointed to bottles on the top shelf (out of my sight) and told me that was his cognac selection. Then turned away and waited on two men. I said I couldn't see what he had and he pretty much ignored me.
Later our female cocktail server helped me out.
Very snooty for a bartender.
Other than that, staff was good.
