Classic excellently-maintained city hotel in the city center. New elevators work well. Rooms vary, from small singles facing the square to larger ones facing the interior courtyard. (I prefer quiet facing the courtyard.) Some are grand and modern, others smaller with traditional furnishings. Bathrooms, regardless of size, gleam with stone and faultless plumbing, thick towels, etc.
Wi-Fi worked perfectly.
Breakfast is a generous buffet, but the room is a little cramped, and tables are quite small. A special delight is the orange juice machine: you pick you oranges, cut them; and squeeze the juice yourself. Dinner in the restaurant is altogether a more gracious affair. Food is unadventurous Italian but competent. Service is polite and correct. Prices are reasonable for what is offered.
The green apples (available for the taking 24 hours a day) are tasteless and terrible. Since this part of Italy grows fabulous apples, I hope they improve them (I did suggest it to the manager).
I have stayed at this hotel twice now, and would be pleased to stay again.
Parking in the garage isn't cheap; better to park in the neighborhood overnight, then either leave early or feed the parking meter machines an hour or two for a more relaxed departure..
