We actually reached the hotel at around 11 pm. But I had informed them well in advance. Inspite of that one of the rooms ( I had booked 2 rooms) had a malfunctioning AC. otherwise rooms were ok. The breakfast area was cramped, spread wasn't great and they took a long time to refill. One of the worst areas was the swimming pool. The water was turbid and the changing room was very dirty. I strongly recommend not to use the swimming pool.
Very nice family hotel. All the tourist attractions are within walking distance. The best parts are:
Excellent view from the roof top
Candle light dinner
Food to relish and satisfy taste buds
Pool to enjoy with family
I traveled with my 6 month kid and was worried a bit. But since stepped into the hotel till I left there are only wonderful things to say abt my stay. The lake view room view was grt. But the standout was huge beds n clean rooms.
Only improvement to facilities can be added is thw hotel is missing a swimming pool.
My train reached Udaipur by 8. I was thinking hotel will not allow me to stay as the normal check-in time is by noon. I reached hotel by 8:30, to my surprise the reception guy just asked that "Sir, you are early".. and he immediately tried to check for available places. To further surprise, Deluxe room was already booked for the day, so he upgraded my room to Suite and handed over the keys :-) ... Rooms are amazing.. near clean and spacious... and you will see lots of Europeans at the hotel. Rooftop view from the hotel is also very attractive, we get to see Lake pichola, jag mandir and other hotel nearby.. city view.. Sajjangarh view ... Overall its very nice place to stay and worth the money
Now and again you strike gold with accommodation in India. For me, travelling solo in the 50 plus bracket and no longer wanting the backpacker experience, or the full on 5 star experience, this was one of those times. This place is a gem, set in alleyways a stones throw from Lake Pichola and a short walking distance to all the sites. Rooms and hotel are fresh and well maintained. Staff are friendly, attentive and responsive but not pushy. Roof top restaurant gives exquisite views of Lake, as good as you'll get anywhere. Restaurant is excellent and clean with good range of food, lovely friendly staff who engage on a meaningful level and all at a very reasonable price. Rooms are tastefully decorated with excellent modern bathroom fixtures and new A/C. It's an old building but been well done up. The morning I left at 6am a staff member came to my room and helped with my luggage and they provided packed breakfast without any prompt from me. Breakfast and wifi were included in my package. And to top it off it's very reasonably priced, cheap as chips really. Very professional well run hotel, all things considered, in terms of value for money, the best I have stayed at during my travels through India over the years. Thank you Jaiwana Havelli for a memorable stay. What a find!!!!!
I had booked a deluxe room & had requested Mr. Sathya Dev Singh Ashiya to allot me a room on the upper floor with the view of the lake. He had kept up his promise & we really enjoyed a great view of the lake. We could see the Lake Palace hotel, enjoyed a laser show at Jagmandir from the room. The sunset watched from the room was unforgettable. The only problem is proper food served in the hotel since there is no full fledged restaurant & the choice of whatever breakfast & other meals is very limited. However there are quite a few restaurants at walking distance.
Hotel staff need to be improved. No one is available especially in the early morning & we had to wait till beyond 7.15 am for a cup of tea.
