i have stayed at the vale of york several times this time i couldnt make it as had to have an operation i tried for 3 months to get in touch with them via emails that kept coming back phone calls which was not available so couldnt change my dates for the weekend

Hotel has recently been taken over. Its been spruced up and the staff offered excellent service. Our room was small but serviced every day. Bar was clean and tidy and well run. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice of evening meals. Overall I would have no problem returning here for my next visit to Thirsk.

This is one of the best places we have stayed, the rooms are loverly and cozy , Vicky and mark are brilliant hosts very friendly and go out of there way to make you feel at home , the drinks are a very good price and so is food, breakfast was outstanding well done Vicky and mark we will be back .

Freindly & pleasant stay

Very accommodating, freindly & helpful staff member. Little disappointment with hotels.com booking info wrong & fact hotel was shutting down nxt morning for refurb but luckily staff good enough to make up for it. Rooms cosy & pleasant, comfy beds, good area for local pubs & shops.

Comfortable rooms, tasty food

The hotel location was perfect for us as it was a very short walk from Thirsk station. We stayed for two nights and our small room was perfectly comfortable, especially the beds which is the most important thing! We ate here both evenings. Service is definitely not fast but the lad serving is very personable and the food was worth the wait, a delicious salad the first night and a massive steak and ale pie the second. Breakfast was also very tasty.

What I was expecting

Stayed overnight for a race meeting at Thrisk and just over a mile stroll to the course which was handy. The rooms themselves were pretty basic and could do with some updating on the bathroom front, but it did what it said on the tin & I wasn't expecting 5 start luxury for the price we paid. Beds were comfortable and plenty of tea bags in the room rather than the usual one tea bag each you get in some places. We had a few drinks & a meal in the bar after the races and it was very friendly with both the staff, locals & guests all helping to create a nice atmosphere. The meal was very nice and they had sky sports which meant we could the football. I would stay again if I went back to the races at Thrisk.

It could be a really great place to stay if it had some care and attention and staff were trained for their roles properly. The overall decor is not very welcoming with no pictures on the walls and needs an redecorating in parts. The room wasn't very clean with dust in the corners, tge towel rail laying broken on the floor and a used soap bar left in the shower from a previous occupant. The kettle was on the floor whilst the rest of the tea making equipment was on the other side of the room. When pushed together, the twin beds were found to be at different heights and the matresses were in need of replacing. Room service made the beds, but didn't replace the dirty cups or used towels. The one good point was the breakfast, without the sausage, and the kind lad doing all of the serving.

Very poor stay, room dirty, all bed rooms seem to not have soft close doors so there is banging all night, tvs are tiny and a far distance from the bed/seating in the room and staff very disinterested, breakfast is not served untill 07:30, so went down for then, finally got in to the breakfast room for 7:40, ordered Poached Eggs straight away then waited over 30 minutes for them too arrive. Meaning I was late for my first appointment that day. Plenty of other hotels, B&Bs in the location to use, avoid this one

This hotel at the lower end of the cost range so top luxury cannot be expected. The room was basic but clean and comfortable. The shower was good and noise from adjacent rooms low. All the staff we extremely friendly and helpful. The evening meal was good and the full English excellent.

Very dog-friendly & lovely staff

5 night stay in September, just the dog & I. Room had 3 single beds to choose from ! Comfortable en-suite. T.v & tea/coffee facilities. Dog allowed in all areas of hotel - totally spoilt by staff - nice garden too. Pool, darts & jukebox & live bands end of month.
