A cozy and clean waterfront home
The home was comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. The location is beautiful and feels private while still being near shopping and entertainment. We were here for a swim meet at the Weyerhaeuser Aquatic Center and the house was a nice short drive away.

When you look for a place to unwind, clear your head and rejuvenate this is the exact place you need to be. The home can be used for both families and individual travellers with is perfect flexibility. Kathy was super friendly and always communicating to ensure I was comfortable during the entire stay. She is such a warm soul and a joy to be around. The place is clean and offers a lot of privacy for those seeking a getaway. There were also some outdoor activity options that one can indulge in. I have definitely found a gem that I can call home for many more visits to come. I would highly recommend it without doubt.

Simply wonderful!
I’ve been fortunate and have done a lot of traveling in the past 20 years. This is an amazing hideaway with lots of parking and easy access to shopping. Plus it’s absolutely as beautiful as the picture I couldn’t be happier. My host was wonderful and checked up on us to make sure things were good. Thank you, Kathy! I hope to stay again soon.

Family Time
I was thrilled to find a location close to my sister’s house. It was a perfect size for the two of us. Making meals didn’t require buying extra of anything because it was so well stocked with ingredients (mustard, olive oil etc.). The view of the lake was just as pictured. This may be my home away for next year when I visit.

cute little getaway
The owner (Kathy) was super responsive when we had any questions. Had almost ever thing we needed for supplies, kitchen, linens and bathroom. It was a great home base for our Seattle/Tacoma Vacation. The only complaints I have is the lake on our side isn't swimmable (very weedy and muddy). However drive 5 minutes or use the provided pedal boat or kayak and get to a nice swim area with a giant playground. The master bed was not very comfortable. The twin beds and the couches were better.

Horrid Stay
Kathy & I spoke by phone before I booked her Vrbo. I told her it was my 79th birthday gift to myself & that I wanted to walk out of the house & into the lake numerous times a day. A photo shows a nice set of stone steps going from the house to the beach. There were no steps. There was a long & fairly steep cement ramp with a rickety rail. When I got to the bottom of the ramp there was a rock & a cement block piled together. I moved each to keep my balance. Getting into the lake was horrid. Luckily, I brought swim shoes. I walked to the dock so I would have something to hang onto. I walked in muck over my knees to get into deeper water. I would never have rented the house had I known how difficult it was to get in the lake. No beach towels. All the plants & lawn were dead & dry as a bone. Not like photos. The bedrooms were terribly noisy from road traffic. I rented the house from Tuesday & out Saturday. I swam Tuesday, left & went back Friday to get my swimsuit, beach towel etc. No cleaning needed except perhaps sweep the floor. I wrote Kathy & explained my complaints & asked her not to respond & she didn’t. In every negative review no problem was ever her fault. I literally threw $1,500.00 in the garbage. My decision but because the difficulty getting in & out of the lake. I was there less than three hours total. Stay at the Comfort Inn where there is a pool & go to Steel Lake Park. It is a piece of cake to get in the lake.

Excellent location. View perfect. Very clean. Good communication with owner. Should be warning for toilet in cubby for those larger than average. Investment for beds would make for more comfortable stay. Faucets need attention, loose. Walkway to dock was broken as were paddle boats.

Great Stay
We had a great stay in Federal Way! The home is clean and simple. It was the perfect amount of space for our family of four. We were able to drive to all the national parks in Washington as well as enjoy sightseeing in the city.

Great House, horrible beds
The house and location is very nice. I asked before making a reservation on comfort of beds since I didn’t see anything on beds in any reviews. The beds are very hard and squeaky. This might be comfortable to the owner but for our family we are not used to hard beds. We slept on the futon’s as they was more comfortable than the beds.

Hidden Gem w/Conditions
I was a little apprehensive after reading some of the reviews but I’m glad I continued as this house is a little hidden gem. Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood on the lake with beautiful views out the back. Pros - location is close to travel corridor & nightlife but far enough that you don’t notice. Easy to get in and out of. Home has everything you’ll need including lake access. Cons - for us bigger folks, the toilet in the bathroom is a TIGHT squeeze. The No Visitors day or night kinda defeats the purpose of getting a house, even if you just want to entertain outside. Luckily my family had a house nearby. That kind of info needs to be included in the listing and not as an afterthought before you arrive.

This was the wordt experience ive had. The host was rude and made us feel unwelcomed. Initaly we had a family emergency and she eouldnt revund any portion or even try to put back as available to see if it hot rebooked . Then when we arrifed the place was dusty and way smallervthan it looks in the phots. She has cameras everywhere so you feel like shes watching your every move. i asked if it was okay to have my sister her husband and toddler over so we could enjoy the lake and she wanted to charge me $15 dollars a person and then changed her mind as said for us to go to a park because $15 a person doesnt cover the cost incurred at the property for more people? Never again, we chose to not stay and lost the money

Serene experience
This is the second time that I have stayed in Kathy's properties. On both occasions, the communication was great and the propertiies were just as advertised. The property was clean, organized and there were ample supplies to cook (including spices and other food essentials). The stay was just what was needed and I appreciate the prompt response and communication. If you are interested in having a peaceful stay with great views, I highly recommend this property.

Spring Stay!!
This is our 2nd time back at the property and we enjoyed our wonderful stay. The location is great and quiet. We spent most of the days on the dock fishing and enjoyed the bbq. The house is a perfect size for a small family and to have friends stop by. Kathy is amazing as usual and is very responsive. We will definitely be back! Loved our stay!

It was a great location for us, immaculate, well equipped, and had an absolutely splendid lake view, which we enjoyed daily whether we were sitting on the deck or taking in the view from inside. I had to think about what to say before I wrote my response but in the end I have to be honest, to the owner if no one else. The cottage was in a good location but it is not the cleanest. Owner keeps a lot crap from other guests. Cupboards had spices and plastic utincles that should be in the garage. Bathtub had all these soaps/shampoos left from others. I had to clean the dirt from the bathroom door. Not what I expected to be doing just so I could enjoy my surroundings. Could be cleaner considering she charges an exorbitant cleaning fee. One of the chairs at the dining table was actually taped together. I also did not find out until the the day before our visit there would be a $30 dollar charge for any guest/ per person staying overnight when I made it clear from the beginning that I had not seen my daughter and granddaughter since precovid and that I wanted a place where we could just enjoy getting together after so long. It was a big surprise. I felt the owner nickled and dimed us. I letf the home cleaner then she had it for us. Honestly, she should reimburse me the cleaning fee. What a shame. It's a really cute place. Too bad she takes better care of the outside than the inside.

Florence. Thank you for the feedback. Yes, we leave a lot of good spices in the cupboard so you f you want to use them and not have to pay to buy new one, you could. It’s ok if you choose not to use them. I am surprised to hear that dirt is on the bathroom floor since I was on hands and knees to clean it. We don’t even use mop afraid not getting all the dirt. As for charging of additional people, we price based on the number of people you have on the reservation. Had you put the correct number of people that will stay there, there is nothing to worry about. More people more operating cost (trash, utilities, wear and tear, consumption, washing linens, etc). And it is not fair for other Guests to pay the maximum cost for maximum number of people when they have less people, assuming that we know what maximum number is, which we don’t.!

Washington Stay
This review is for property 7182668, since that is where we ended up staying. We booked the property with Kathy and were asked about 10 days later to switch to this other property. The house was fine. There were cobwebs in the master bedroom along the ceiling and left over coffee in the coffee maker. We were not made aware of the rules on guests until two days before our trip after we had paid. The host charges $5 per person per day for guests, which is fine however we were traveling with a group and had planned a group dinner, so we had to change those plans. Parking is very tight. Overall the stay was fine.

Mellisa check in date was 19Feb. On 19Jan, we found out that the property that Mellisa booked needed maintenance and unavailable. We immediately offer her an upgrade to bigger, more bathrooms, nicer, more expensive - without additional cost; or we can cancel with full refund. Mellissa agrees - 1 month prior to her check in for the upgrade without any extra pay. it's a big property and we missed the coffee and coweb. Bad on us. as for parking, we have plenty parking and not sure why Mellisa said it's tight. Just for that piece of parking space, normally there are 3 vehicles. While Mellisa was there, there are only 2 vehicles. Each parking stall is double the parking stall of the store.

Beautiful Respite During Swim Meet
We were very happy with our experience at this house. The hostess sent all the information ahead of time to make our check-in process seamless. We arrived at night and were so delighted when, the next morning, we were greeted with a beautiful sunny day over the peaceful lake view! Our favorite parts about this house were its convenience to the city shops and restaurants while simultaneously feeling like a serene escape. It's quiet and comfortable for sleeping and the kitchen is well stocked for preparing coffee and meals. We would definitely stay again!

The home was beautiful and aligned with what was seen in the photos. Kathy was accessible, friendly and very helpful. The only concern that arose was with the internet. Internet was not working properly. Kathy answered the communication quickly and even came over to try to do what she could. After the "fix" the internet was still quite slow and not a good option for streaming services without interruption, but otherwise no complaints. The home is located in an area that feels like you're outside of the city, but you're very close to many food and shopping options via a short drive. Would stay here again in the future.

Really enjoyed the stay -- business trip, so more of a place to rest and do work but a great location and the views...even in the rain are great. The only thing I'd recommend would maybe be a 3-ring binder with information on the property and the surrounding area (things to do, maps, etc).

We very much enjoyed our stay here. The lake is beautiful and we enjoyed being right on the lake and having a deck. The home is very nice and Kathy was easy to work with and was accommodating when we requested one more night. Brand new sofas were delivered while we were there!! Kathy even had Asian pears and plums on her trees. There was a bit of traffic noise, but not too bad.

Perfect in Every Single Way!!
We needed a home base near SEA airport & Tacoma, where our grandchildren live & this seemed like the perfect location. IT WAS!! I communicated with the owner, Kathy, before we even arrived and she couldn’t have been more thoughtful and helpful. We arrived in the evening and checked in per her explicit instructions to find a spotless cottage with fresh, beautiful flowers on the table. We all slept well & awoke to an amazing view. We enjoyed eating out breakfast each morning (try the Black Bear or the Village Inn nearby). We had groceries delivered from the nearby Safeway so that we could stay and enjoy Kathy’s home on the lake. My husband, son & grandsons all took a turn fishing & they really enjoyed using the kayaks & paddle boats. Coming from the heat & humidity of the South, we especially enjoyed the cooler temps & refreshing breezes off the lake. Kathy took the time to leave extra pillows, sheets & blankets in case our grands wanted to spend the night. So many delicious restaurants nearby for dinner choices that we only ate there at the house one evening. Everything we needed was available to grill steaks & enjoy a delicious meal. Kathy had provided paper towels, dishwasher & dishwashing soap & plenty of toilet paper so that we didn’t have to purchase any of the basics. That has never happened in any of the places we’ve stayed. And Kathy? She was an absolute gem! We felt as if we had known her forever! She was like a little fairy godmother, granting each & every one of our wishes with a smile on her face! This home was a perfect location for day trips. While we were there we visited Seattle, Mt Rainier and Snoqualmie Falls. I promise you’ll be content in this cute home on Lake Steele!
