Until the hotel is revamped, I would say it is past it's prime. If you arrive at night, the front hotel room with balcony would seem fine. But if you arrive during the day, you will see the dirty walls, window sills, mirrors and mouldy grout and window shutters. In the most expensive balcony rooms it doesn't feel stuffy, but it does in the rest of the windowless, dirty, run down, bleach smelling rooms. No lift means that the elderly and unfit will likely have an issue climbing and descending the many stairs. The bed was comfortable with a good mattress and fresh linen.
The location is great, but I would only be prepared to stay again if I had a balcony room, and that's only if I was desperate.
