The view and access to the beachfront were very good, but the condition of the rooms (please note that I said rooms, plural, rather than a room, because the first room we were assigned was so nasty that we requested to be moved, at which time we went through 2 others that were available, and chose the better of them to stay in, but neither of them was ready to be occupied either! It was a terrible overall experience that really placed a dark cloud over what was otherwise a great vacation! Not something I would ever want to experience again! And for the amount that we were charged for the room, I can assure you that we will NEVER stay there again and hope that this review saves others from having such a costly and negative experience as well! I would like to add that when we do travel we prefer to stay at a Quality Inn and Suites property because of the high standards that the chain holds, and I am shocked that this particular property can carry the Quality Inn and Suites name, because it is nowhere close to those standards!!

We loved the location and we were able to bring our pet. We had a great view from our room and right on the lake. The price was great and the room was clean. The room was ok. Liked the in room hot tub. However, the building was definitely less than desirable. Our patio door was very old and stained and the screen door was off and blocking the opening out. There were holes underneath the building, not sure what’s living there. That said, it fit our needs and would stay again if needed.

We were excited to enjoy a beachfront view and the hot tub after a long drive. First, the hot tub was lukewarm at best, so we wouldn’t have enjoyed it. Then we decided to enjoy our balcony with a beautiful view and perfect weather, but we couldn’t, there were spiders everywhere, especially above our heads, hanging from the balcony roof (I counted a minimum of 5 at the door). We decided to just go get dinner and as we walked out the door to a yet to be lit up hall area, there were spiders above our heads there as well (obviously we missed them coming in). Though we didn’t get bitten, I personally found another spider in the room by the coffee pot with a nice web (obviously this room wasn’t well cleaned). The room just didn’t feel clean and was one of the worst places we have stayed. In hindsight, we realized we had stayed here 2 years before and remembered that spiders being an issue then too, but this year by far was so much worse. Never again. Twice burned. Some kind of pest control, inside and out.

One end of coatrack separating from wall. Broken hanger left on shelf by housekeeping. Towel rack only partially mounted on bathroom wall. Sliding glass door required excessive force to open and close and appeared to have been in such condition for a very long time. Carpet definitely needed cleaning.

They need a repairman.
The valance above the patio door fell down onto my husband's head, when I opened the drapes, while we were sitting at the small table eating our pizza. It hurt him badly. He went down to the office and all she said was "what, the" . My husband took the valance and placed it on the outside porch.

Just okay. I'm sure there's better.
There was branches scraping the wall/roof all night, lots of garbage and random tools laying around outside. The pool/hot tub were overcholorinated and dirty looking. Parking is horrible. The room itself was very clean and pleasant, except for the gross kaulking.

Room smelled terrible, couldn't breathe it was so strong of cleaner, got headache, moved rooms still smelled the same. Manager rude ripped a piece of paper handed it to and told me rented standard room when online it daid lake view. Bathrooms gross, dirty floor. Hole in entry door covered with cardboard. Staff acted like there was no smell. Would not refund money. The grass area by the beach is unkept and littered with trash and cigarettes. The hotel is in need of repair and updates. Outdoor steps are carpeted and filty, stairs are shaky and unsafe. This place was awful and should be closed

This property is beyond help, From the outside street view it looks desirable, but from check in to check out this place is awful! The gal at check it was pleasant, but confused. She asked for help, but received none. Reason being I believe is the male helper was high and reeked of pot. Then we got to our room it was some what updated. Then you look around the smoke detector was laying on top of cabinet and wires in ceiling exposed, lamp was in closet area with no shade, bathroom had lights exposed with no cover, slider to balcony had no lock, just bar you could put in rail, outdoor carpet on balcony has active moss growing and window have not been cleaned in a long time. I could continue. PS for the continental breakfast you had to walk to another hotel two down from where we stayed on a upper level. This was under staffed and food was fair at best. The hard boiled eggs where ln a bowl sitting on top of able and not chilled. I could go on, but its not worth my time!

Cobwebs in the room. Table and bathroom counter had not been cleaned and had spots of food or liquid from previous guests. Bottom sheet on the bed wasn’t even big enough to cover the mattress pad so we had to go ask for a different one. Smoke detector was not connected. But front desk staff was helpful and courteous.

Check-in had us at a courtside room(pkg lot) & 2 qn beds. when i booked a patio/beachside lake view room w/king bed. I was $30 more for what I wanted. The room was not as was pictured on theeir site. It was 70's decor, missing towel bar, dirty slider to water and the grounds were not kept and littered with garbage bags and random garbage.

I don't even know where to start. lake view was beautiful but that's about it, 45 mins waiting to check in, rooms not ready, had to replace our room as locked patio doors didn't work, smoke detector didn't work, very old fridge, we went for dinner. 2 hours later we got the wrong room we asked for, staff was very rude, breakfast was in a different hotel, not recommended! ! ! judge for yourself

Room was clean, great water pressure. Beds were a little to hard for me but overall good room for the money. Beach access and pool. Close walk to ferry as well.

The staff was nice, but the property is very run down. None of the grounds and beach area were kept up. landscape was all weeds and goose droppings everywhere. Rooms were worn and dingy. Pool area had a lot of mold. I do not recommend staying here. The only thing this hotel had going for it was that is on the beach.

Balcony off room overlooking the lake was great. No blanket on sofa sleeper and pillows had to be taken off the king bed in the suite. Breakfast at the Clarion was out of food in most selections. We did get toast.

It had an odor. Bed was clean and comfortable, but no linens for couch bed. When we got the sheets they were stained. Bugs were covering the door as we entered. Air conditioning unit smelled. Room itself didn’t look bad but it wasn’t what I was expecting.

The room with newly redone with knotty pine and new tile on the bathroom floor which was nice however they left the moldly grout around the shower. The bathroom sink took a good 10 minutes for the water to go done. Didn’t tell the front, as we checked in later and was afraid if I asked for a different room there weren’t be any available. On the positive, the view was FABULOUS! Right on the beach. Watch an iron ore carrier go in front of us.

The hotel has an excellent location. Since it was available on two hours' notice on what should be one of the busiest holidays of the year (July 4th) that told me that maybe it wasn't too popular. I booked it sight unseen with the purpose of being near the fireworks show. Indeed, the fireworks viewing was excellent! Overall, the property is quite tired and old. Seemed clean, but was dimly lit and to me the carpeting looked a little icky. The beds were comfortable, pillows were good.

Mosquitoes Galore
Our room had a ton of mosquitoes outside the door, which they can’t do much about that. There were dead mosquitoes on the wall and ceiling in the room, and the cable box was missing. They were going to send someone over to look into the cable box, but we feared how many more mosquitoes would enter the room with the door opening and closing a few more time. The ice box also still had melted ice in it. I doubt that I would stay here again.

The view was lovely, although the beach had trash lying around. The property was not as advertised. First, the ad promised free breakfast but we were greeted with the news that there is none there. We were encouraged to go to a restaurant in town, but when pressed, they reluctantly admitted that we could get breakfast free at the Clarion 2 doors down. Not great. They also advertised free wifi. They even provided a password! But, there was no connection. "No internet" at all! If you need it for work, don't stay here. There was no shampoo, the screen door to the balcony was jammed and broken, and there were bugs plastered all over the walls outside. We definitely will not stay here again.

Arrived at 2:30 pm and was told to come back in 30 minutes. Came back and checked in. When i got to room key cards did not work. Walked back and got cards fixed. Went into room and seen curtain was broke. Got another room. Room was nice. When we went to use pool it was closed. In the morning we went to get are breakfast that was included with room to find out if was closed and not serving breakfast. I chose this hotel for the pool and breakfast. Very disappointing not only for me but my wife and daughter also. We was looking forward to swimming that evening. We was late to get on ferry cause we had to find a restaurant for breakfast. We got by and still enjoyed the rest of our trip.

The front desk was friendly and helpful and I had an amazing view of Lake Huron! This location is in dire need of an update, however. The area where a continental breakfast was previously served was not operational, nor was the indoor pool.

The photo is deceptive, showing the newer building. Our room was tired, needed thorough cleaning, had very few plugs. Beds were clean, but overall a very disappointing experience.
