Great space/location but not for mobility impaired
The Griffon has a hotel and a set of apartments just down the street. The hotel rooms are small, clean, and efficient, but four or five flights up with no elevator. The apartments are a bit larger, have an elevator, but also aren’t accessible to those with mobility impairments. If you can manage steps, this is a great option. But favor the apartments over the hotel.

Great location
Location was good and central. Room basic and small. Shower pressure was too low and bathroom too small. Had to walk 4 floors up the room with luggage. It's the world cup season, had to pay a premium for the room.

We always try to do the best to improve our service, and we'd be ready to help, if you would inform our reception about problems with water. Please mention that information about lift absence presented at the page of the hotel at Expedia. Our hotel is located in a historic building. It's not rare phenomenon for central area of North Capital. And we can organize help with the luggage for small fee - 1-2 USD. Room price in June-July is about 110 USD, it is high season. However, premium rooms in the center of Saint Petersburg cost about 1000 USD. And in low season our prices are about 30-50 USD. Hope that your stay in Saint Petersburg was at all marvellous.

Our hotel is situated in historical building in the heart of St. Petersburg, and it's impossible to make a lift there due to technical reasons. Anyway, we could provide help with the luggage by small fee (2$), you needed just ask at the reception.

Homey no-frills hotel in heart of St. Petersburg
The positives: - Perfect location. Within walking distance of everything in central St. Petersburg. We even walked to the Peter and Paul Fortress. - Great service. I am Russian; my boyfriend is not. Staff were very polite to both of us and spoke good English. They even worked with us to change our schedule after the St. Petersburg bombing incident resulted in an alteration to our travel plans, despite the fact that they have a no-cancelation policy. Quick response time via email. Went way above my expectations. - Decent breakfast. Some mornings, there were even fresh blini. The negatives: - Not for those with disabilities! No lift and many stairs to get to the hotel. - Very loud in the summer. The noise of the city definitely transfers to the room, especially since there is a street full of nightclubs nearby. Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper. - One day, we had no hot water. It was okay because we were able to get some boiled water from the kitchen and we didn’t see this as a major inconvenience, but some travelers definitely might. - Wi-fi did not work. What to expect: Homey, but lacking amenities that some guests may expect. For us, it was fine – we only used our room to sleep and shower and I really appreciated the great customer service. I would recommend it. However, if you are a more demanding traveler or require Wi-Fi for work, you may not be completely comfortable here!

great location, but extra surprising fees
I have booked the hotel for 2 adults and 2 kids and once there, they told me that i booked only for 2 adults and there will be extra fees for kids to open up the sofa bed. they also charged me for immigration registration fees, although i have already registered at the airport and asked for extra fees for registration. overal i overpaid $25 for an $80 room that was not worth it. it is also a walk up (4 flights) and not recommended for those with heavy luggage. we had 2 tired kids on top

Nice hotel in a good location
Gifon Hotel is a lovely place to stay. It is a very basic hotel but clean with staff who will do everything they can to help you. The breakfast is offer for a long period of time for the early rises at 8am to the late raiser at 11am, there was always an interesting choice of the local tradition dishes and the more conventional choices. It is walking distance to most of the major attractions and easy access to the Metro for getting further away or you don't fancy walking. There are 80 steps up to the hotel but they are well maintained and well spaced. You only need to be moderately fit to get up them and although you probably don't want to run up and down them more than a couple of times a day but that shouldn't really put anyone off.

Friendly hotel close to all sights.
The hotel is on one of the major canals near all sights. The staff is very helpful, friendly and speaks English. This is a plus because not everybody in St. Petersburg does. The rooms are comfortable and clean. It is also a very safe location and the hotel itself is safe. The only drawback is that it is on the 4th floor and there is no elevator but I always travel light, with just a carry on so it you are in decent shape it is no problem. It had everything I needed because I don't care for paying for a view since the whole idea is to be out as much as possible. The breakfast was also very good.

Quiet hotel near St Petersburg sites
Hotel Griffon is good location close to sites. Hotel opens onto canal near Griffon Bridge which felt safe. We had a room at the back which was unusually quiet. The staff were friendly and spoke good English. They kindly produced a special early breakfast (5.50 am) the day we left.

Bit more like a b&b than a hotel. Good location, friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms. Just a note to add: we were charged an additional 250rubles per person for a "registration fee" on arrival despite having prepaid with the website. There was no clear mention of this on the site.

Homely hotel in a great central location
Although there are many steps (108 if you are in the last floor), but the service was excellent and the room was very comfortable and clean. We arrived early in the morning and despite that got out room and even breakfast (although we just arrived). The receptionists were great. Very helpful, respond to every request (such as eating breakfast very early because of our flight). The location is the BEST, just behind Kazan Cathedral' 5 min walk from Nevsky prospect.

Clean, safe, excellent location and great value
I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It was clean and in a safe neighbourhood, just 10 minutes walk from The Hermitage and 15 minutes to the Mariinsky Theatre. The staff were very helpful. The hotel is on the 4th floor and there is no elevator, but unless you have mobility issues or a tonne of luggage this is not really a problem. My room was quiet and with plenty of light. I would stay there again.

Excellent choice in St Petersburg
It was 6th time to St Petersburg and second in Hotel Grifon. And for sure will stay there in the following visits too! Excellent location, very friendly service and cozy atmposphere. I was there with a friend for New Years Eve, which is a very celebration in Russia. The hotel organized a small celebration and we ended up chatting quite a bit with one of the ladies working there at the reception. She gave us not only good tips on where to spend the rest of the evening, but also told us quite a lot about life in Russia and in Soviet times. On the negative side there isnt much really. Only thing to mention is that there is no elevator and doors can be a bit heavy to open.

Good location
Great location 15 min walk to most attractions. There is a nice restaurant, Leica, a few doors away from the hotel. Try chicken liver with mash and the traditional drink ,Mors, in there. Be prepared to carry your case up four floors as there is no lift. Breakfast isn't amazing, but just ok. Be prepared for microwave sussages or eggs. The rooms are warm, very dated, fairly clean. Don't miss Marinsky theatre. We watched a fabulous ballet for £25, for two people. On top of the Saviour of Blood cathedral, Summer garden and Naval cathedral are two other places that you shouldn't miss.

Friendly and helpful staff that caters to their guests and makes you feel welcome and gets you headed in the right direction. The hotel did not have consistent working AC. The stairs make it very difficult to manage up and down with luggage and have a very bad smell. The staff was friendly and serviceable in particular one young lady who was in training. Her name is Elizabeta "Liz" and she more than made up for the hotel shortcomings. She was very attentive, pleasant, professional and really went out of her way for the guests. Definitely a very hard working young lady.

Good central location to the tourist spots. But, that is about where the good news ends. Overall the staff was friendly. But, the young girl working when we got there was either not a happy person, or simply did not like me and my Son. Either way it was not comfortable. The Hotel is on the 5th floor with no elevator. Let me say that again, "no elevator". If you are a tri-athelete, you are good. Carrying all your luggage up 93 steps in your mid 50's? Well, you get the picture. But, I highly suggest experiencing that part of Russia. Alot of History, alot of tradition.

The hotel location is incredible since its full of bars and restaurants. The main avenue is just blocks away. The service is high and low. We met young Anastasia who tried to be helpful but wasn't. The next day an old lady helped us with the cab and the air conditioned, she also provides very helpful information. The hotel is too expensive for what it offers, would never go back again

Musty staircase hints at this hotels former grandeur. No elevator to get to the 4th floor lobby and 5th floor rooms - but the stairs are wide and reasonably pitched for easy climbing with bags. Super location with easy walks to the water and many sights. Breakfast included, and though not fancy or huge quantities (if thats your thing) prepared with love just for you. The staff was the best, no problems there... Highly recommend. If showing up at night, the area SEEMS creepy at first (tatoo parlor next door, long vacant road, etc) but it was safe and comfortable. We emailed ahead to request a taxi (late nite arrival into airport - LED, initials for its previous name!), the request was acted on promptly and fairly.

Great once you get to the top of the stairs.
This hotel is located at the top of the 4th floor and there is no elevator the floors are very high and the stairs are very long, there was an unpleaseant smell in stairwell. . As a 65 year old I had difficulty in climbing those stairs with my suitcase. I had just travelled overland on the Silk Route through China, Kyrgystan , Uzbekistan ,Russia etc and this was the worst hotel to get in to. The room itself was nice and clean and the view over the canal great. The hotel is close to the metro and I had no problems getting around. The staff however need to be instructed to help people up the stairs with their luggage they have closed circuit TV so they must have seen me, or put in an elevator

Travel to St. Petersburg, Russia and Grifon Hotel
Location is the big plus for this hotel. The 4-5 flights of stairs with luggage is a negative, just be prepared. Breakfast very basic, but adequate. Room fairly large, beds a little hard, but that seems to be everywhere in Russia. Great shower, clean room, nice large windows that open onto canal area for nice views. Excellent restaurants, all close by to choose from, as well as many coffee shops. Staff wonderfully helpful, speak excellent English and offer good suggestions for sights, tours, PO box etc.

Общее-не комфортно. В подъезде и лифте грязь и ужасные запахи. В квартире постоянный гул вентиляции,тонкие перегородки,слышимость ужасная. Условия и правила проживания придуманы не для комфорта гостей,а для удобства отеля.

Большинство наших гостей, в том числе бизнес-путешественники, семьи с детьми, довольны условиями проживания и продуманными до мелочей удобствами. Апартаменты расположены в соседнем доме с ресепшн, в жилом подъезде, в котором предусмотрена влажная уборка на постоянной основе. Мы обязательно обратим внимание коммунальных служб на качество и периодичность уборки. Однако, в общем коридоре, где расположены все апартаменты, всегда идеальная чистота. Шумоизоляция между апартаментами современная и качественная. Вентиляция работает при включенном свете, также на кухне есть специальная клавиша для включения/выключения вентиляции. Замечательный недорогой отель близко к центру
Хороший отель на 4-5 этажах дома с видом на канал Грибоедова. Разве что, стоит иметь ввиду, что придётся подниматься пешком, лифта нет :) если путешествуете с пожилыми или теми, кому это неудобно по любым причинам, то учитывайте.

1. 위치: 지하철역(넵스킨)에서 약간 멀지만, 가격대비 참을만함. 2. 내부시설: 리모델링 얼마 안되어서, 아주 깨끗함 (욕실, 거실, 침실등). 벽 콘센트가 싱크대, 침실,욕실등에. 충분히 있음. 인테리어 자재도 좋은 재질인듯. 3. 숙소(아파트)는 호텔 리셉션 빌딩과 (옆 건물) 떨어져 있음. ( 리셉션 까지.. 짐 가지고 올라가지 마세요. 한명은 밑에서 대기) 4. 숙소 청소는 1주일에 한번만 한답니다. 5. 건물 입구(1층철문)는 폐허의 출입문 같으나, 안에 들어가서 5층에 올라가면, 깨끗한 숙소.

후기에 직원이 친절하다는 내용을 많이 보고 갔습니다. 실제로 호텔에 투숙할 당시, 그들이 왜 그렇게 말했는지 알 수 있었습니다. 직원들은 너무나 친절했고 호텔의 위치도 상당히 좋았습니다. 비록 엘레베이터가 없는 호텔이지만, 충분히 투숙할 가치가 있는 호텔입니다. 다음 여행에도 저는 반드시 이 호텔에 투숙할 예정입니다. 새벽에 체크아웃해서 감사인사를 못하고 나왔는데, 너무 감사했습니다!

Check in war komplikationslos, wir mussten allerdings zwei Hausnummern weiter zu unserem eigentlichen Appartement gehen und die Beschreibung dahin war nicht sonderlich gut vor allem weil alle Haustüren gleich aussahen. Wenn man dies vorher weiß ist das allerdings kein Problem aber wir waren doch schon sehr verwundert weil wir mit etwas anderem gerechnet haben. Das Treppenhaus sah aus als wäre es von mehreren Leuten bewohnt aber es gibt einen Fahrstuhl. Im Appartement angekommen war alles recht neu eingerichtet, Sauberkeit auch sehr gut und viele Küchenutensilien für ggf. Selbstversorgung. Ein Riesen plus für die zentrale Lage, haben alles zu Fuß erreichen können. Also alles in allem mit anfänglicher Verwunderung sehr zufrieden!

Bem localizado. Hotel no 4o andar, sem elevador.
Hotel muito bem localizado, fica próximo da avenida principal e alguns minutos de caminhada da Basílica do sangue derramado. Porém os quartos ficam no quarto andar e não há elevador, ainda o café deixa muito a desejar.

Poiché il nostro hotel è situato in un edificio storico, qui non c'è l'ascensore, il che è confermato dalle descrizioni dell'hotel su varie risorse in Internet. Ma abbiamo una stanza per i bagagli, che si trova al primo piano, anche i nostri ospiti hanno l'opportunità di ordinare un servizio di trasporto bagagli alla stanza. Hotel Grifon è abbastanza vicino al centro della città, anche ai locali notturni, purtroppo ci sono 78 gradini da fare per arrivare al 4 piano senza ascensore, essendo una palazzina storica non si poteva fare diversamente. Non ci sono aiuti previsti per i bagagli. Inoltre la colazione è fatta con prodotti confezionati, come salame e formaggi. in 5 giorni non c'era neanche il pane bianco, quando a due passi c'è una panetteria e non dico di mettere le briosche fresche ma almeno dei panini. Le marmellate erano di bassa qualità, senza prevedere una crema al cioccolato. Insomma non tornerei un'altra volta.

Organizziamo colazione inglese (non a buffet) presso il nostro hotel e cerchiamo sempre di farlo nel modo migliore. Grazie per la tua valutazione, ci aiuta a migliorare.
