karuna Guesthouse was one of our favorite properties. We were greeted by the owner and shown to our room. They room was SPOTLESS and large with a tea kettle, tv, full bathroom and hairdryer!! They have thought of everything! There is a free breakfast included, and also use of a kitchen. A superbly clean and wonderful place to stay!!

Guesthouse was new and modern. Room was large with comfortable bed. Sitting area and large bathroom. Had a small fan! Close to town with dining options and gas station.

It was a gorgeous and well-put together place with chic decorations and modern necessities, the hot tub was amazing to sink in after a long day as well. The breakfast served in the morning was delicious and nutritious, not to mention the small dog was adorable! It was very well-behaved.

Cute guesthouse attached to a farm. There was no door or curtain on the bedroom and the door to the room did not lock. The locking mechanism did not engage the lock. Breakfast was decent, as was parking. Nice place to stay overall!

Nice shared kitchen with cooking, seating, fridge, and freezer. Bedroom plus sitting room - bedroom could be darkened easily. Extremely comfortable. Shower had great pressure. Great views.

The property looks to be very new. The guestroom had a sitting area, a desk, an entry area, new bathroom, and comfortable bed. There is a shared kitchen and a beautiful dining room with a view. Karuna provides free coffee and a few pastries for breakfast, which was very nice. The location is excellent, close to Glaumbaer historical site, in a beautiful valley with farms and horses. Saw the northern lights from that location in September.

The property has been updated so everything is new and the design of the buildings is beautiful. We were in the shared bath section, and this section is pretty noisy. The walls and ceilings are thin; however, the owners make it clear that all guests should be respectful, so I actually didn’t hear anyone in the morning. I would definitely stay here again but only in the section with private baths.

Very nice specious room, very clean with comfortable beds. Really liked the TV in the room with lots of international channels and Netflix. Easy check in and out. Will definitely recommend.

I wish each room had its own mini refrigerator. We put our food in the community refrigerator and the next day someone ate our food.

Hi I'm sorry someone ate your food. As everyone is told to only use food labeled "Karuna," that hasn't been a problem. However, it is true that that can happen, and we have been considering installing mini-fridges in a few of the rooms. We appreciate you taking the time to leave a review for us.

The place is really spacious and what’s really good was having a hot tub right infront of our rooms! Would even stay for multiple night just to chill.

We had such a wonderful experience!!
We had such a wonderful experience at Karuna guesthouse. Host is a wonderful and compassionate person and it was pleasure interacting with her and know her work. Even though breakfast is not included she even provided many things that amounts to providing free breakfast. Place was super clean, well furnished and just a nice and lovely place.

Great looking guesthouse
The check-in was a little confusing. Got an email from the owner stating check-in is between 4 and 8. Let them know if cannot arrive during that time window. We arrived at 6 and figured someone would be there. No one! After waiting around for 10 minutes or so I decided to call the owner. She gave us our room number over the phone and the key was on the door! Simple enough but why not just provide that info in the email sent earlier? The place is otherwise the best we have stayed so far the trip! Clean, roomy, comfortable, and with a killer view! Breakfast was a bit chaotic and confusing. There was nothing laid out on a table like everywhere else. Guests would have to help themselves to find whatever they want to eat in the fridge in the shared kitchen. I assumed everything in it was provided by the guesthouse. If that was not the case and I took someone's lunch meat by mistake, my apologies!

Hi and thank you for your review. I'm sorry that you thought the check-in was confusing. We try to keep it simple and the email says that there is no reception and we ask the guest to call when they arrive at the property. We don't sell breakfast but we give some complimentary breakfast.

Great Stay!
This was a delightful final stay on our Golden Circle tour before returning to Reykjavik. The room was tastefully decorated, very modern aesthetic, and super clean and comfortable. They had two friendly dogs who welcomed us. The breakfast was limited but very nice, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The sulfur, ubiquitous in Iceland, was noticeably strong in the hot water, but, well Iceland is essentially a giant volcano.

Absolutely wonderful property! The best we stayed in on our 10 days trip to Iceland. Completely exceeded our expectations! Everything is brand new, spacious rooms, nicely decorated, fully equipped kitchen, the owner brings fresh eggs every morning from their own hens. Lovely animals on the property.

This guesthouse is in a beautiful location, with mountain views and many chickens and horses on the property. There is a well-equipped shared kitchen to cook your own meals. The refrigerator had boiled eggs from the on-site chickens, which was a nice surprise.

One of the best accommodations we had during a 2-week stay in Iceland that involved over a half dozen properties. Guest rooms are new with large bathrooms and lots of space. Beds were the most comfortable of the whole trip. The property is a 25-minute drive from the town of Skagafjörour and is very quiet with only a field of horse as neighbors. Breakfast offerings were not huge so if you're used to a big breakfast it's best to shop in Skagafjörour but do not let this stop you from staying at this fantastic property.

The property is all renovated, amazing views, located near a small town in which there’s restaurants with excellent local food, gas and grocery store. The hot tub is amazing and the host is very friendly. Would stay here again.

The place was very clean and modern. The kitchen was very well equipped. There were some nice touches with the breakfast provided. There were cheese and some home baked pastries.
