A good hotel but can feel dated in certain parts. Check-in was friendly and breakfast inclusion was good. Did feel the service at breakfast was a bit lacking and cold.

The room was comfortable and we had plenty of tea, coffee etc. Sadly the bathroom wasnt the cleanest and the bath water didnt empty very well. We werent given very much information about our stay. Breakfast was nice and the lady serving us was very attentive and heloful.

Upgraded to deluxe room on arrival, albeit in a modern part of the hotel. Staff helpful and friendly. Breakfast perfectly adequate if unexceptional. Can't rate the restaurant as it was closed on the day we arrived (Mondays) and since we were the only booking on the next night, so not viable to open the kitchen for just two covers, we were asked to eat elsewhere.

This is classed as a 4 star hotel, and it met what I would expect from that. Comfortable, old property with the pros and cons that brings. A sherry on arrival is a pleasant thing out of the usual.

Lovely old hotel with spacious rooms, good breakfast. Access by car is limited because of Medieval streets and one way system. We walked parking at Frankwell near the theatre £6.40 for 24 hours. Overnight is free. Hotel has carpark but even more Medieval streets to drive down.

The overall style of the hotel was lovely. Old fashioned, but in fitting with the style of the property. My room was quite noisy from the beer garden of the pub next door. This went on quite late and then loud music came on at 7am on the Sunday morning, all be it briefly). The staff in the hotel were very polite and professional! Very welcoming! I would stay here again, but maybe ask for a quieter room!

Originally booked a twin room as the picture showed a room with a double and a single bed. Had to upgrade at an extra cost for what can only be described as a large single bed. Was told parking was free over the phone, wife was then charged £10 while I parked the car. Threadbare carpet in the room and mould growing on the bathroom ceiling. Bed very hard and floor so uneven you can't sit up in bed because the bed instantly rolled away from the wall. Room had not been cleaned prior to our arrival as previous guests clothing was still in the wardrobe. I wrote "clean me" in the dust on the top shelf. Breakfast was abysmal, sausages full of gristle, dried up wrinkly mushrooms and I'm certain scrambled eggs shouldn't be grey. Overpriced and underwhelming. We would have mentioned this when checking out but the receptionist on duty blanked us.

Lovely hotel with a touch of nostalgia 👍
Lovely old style hotel that took me back, disappointed that the restaurant was closed on a Monday and it didn’t say in the hotel description. Lovely new bathroom and nice toiletries but the tiles and grout around the bath could do with some attention (an old toothbrush and some mould cleaner such as Mr Muscle mould remover spray would have it sparkling in no time). The glass of sherry on check-in was a lovely touch 👍

Great stay with friends.
Great location for discovering Shrewsbury. The reception and breakfast staff were lovely. The room was clean, comfy bed, there is a lift (which I discovered after climbing the stairs to third floor) and just a fascinating old hotel.

Welcoming and traditional (in the best sense of the word). Look forward to staying here when I need somewhere in Shrewsbury. Rooms are comfortable, nice toiletries etc. Glass of sherry on arrival is a nice touch.

The parking is confusing to get to. The room was ok but the air was very dry and it gave me an uncomfortable night sleep, and a nosebleed. Breakfast was fine, and the position is excellent

Prince Rupert Hotel is Fabulous!
We arrived at the hotel after a bit of looking for it as it is a little hard to locate but it was so worth it. The staff were all so nice, nothing was too much trouble. We had a standard double room which had a gorgeous view of the local church. The bed was extremely comfortable and we had a brilliant night's sleep. Breakfast timings were great. We got to have a little sleep in as we booked a 10am breakfast. I had a full English and it was delicious. It was also very useful to have use of a carpark for the stay. We will definitely be returning

Its excellent location and good breakfast were somewhat offset by the noise (from the pub next door and the employer staying near my room) and the below standard cleaning. The bathtub did not seem to have been cleaned at all--I found a hair on the bathtub on the first day of my stay and it remained in the same place for 3 days and the inside of the bathtub felt needing scrubbing all the time.
