Beautiful views of San Gimignano from the outdoor bar and breakfast area. Our room was large, and clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. Gave us great restaurant and wine tasting ideas.

Property is highly recommended. We were very pleased as it provided a real country Tuscany feel about it. Very well appointed and 'historical'. Staying facing the garden in the summer had a drawback of mosquitos getting into the room. Hotel did not seem to relate this problem, not offer any solutions, so that was just a bit disappointing. Otherwise, this is highly recommended.

The grounds are amazing and the view out front to the Tuscan Hills will make you forget all of your worries. Clean room, great bathrooms. The place has that old century feel while still feeling modern enough. Make sure you pay before through Expedia or check out and not leave like other hotels in the US, I got an angry call from the front desk woman who’s thought I wasn’t paying and threatened to call the police even though there was a card on file that was used to hold the room. Besides that one interaction which I didn’t love everything else was amazing.

Dear Guest, we are very disappointed for your review. You leave the Hotel without saying goodbay to anyone, you leave the key in the room and no one knew that you had already left the hotel without paying your room, city tax and your extras untill the hosekeeper went there.As we yold you, we called Expedia and they try to contact you, they were unable to charge the credit card that you use just as GUARANTEE FOR THE RESERVATION.You should be informed that for privacy reasons and to avoid fraud and unpleasant situation we are not allowed by the law and by Expedia itself to have access to your credit card details. Remeber that you are in Italy and not in the US and before you leave an Hotel you must pay your bill. Kind regards

What a unique and beautiful place to stay - everything from the room to the overall hotel and gardens were delightful. An absolute stand out though, were the staff - they were so happy, welcoming and helpful. They outshone the beauty of the physical hotel. Thank you for making a stay so memorable.

The views from the hotel were very nice The morning staff were very friendly We booked a Suite and our friends booked a normal room, both rooms are exactly the same not worth booking a suite Late night staff were very rude we had a gecko in our room, we were told to leave the hotel if we can’t sleep with a gecko inside the room until we requested our money back

Beautiful grounds and exterior of the property, but the interior was very tired, service was definitely lacking relative to the other hotels we stayed in Tuscany and there was almost a “stale” vibe there (i.e. it was weirdly quiet and dimly lite). We booked the nice room with the jacuzzi at the top but we couldn’t get in the jacuzzi as i) first you had to request them to fill the tub 1 hour prior (you’d think they’d fill it automatically when you get in) and ii) once it was filled, we tried to get in but the temperature was so hot you could almost boil a lobster... we waited for 2 hours to see if it cooled down but to no avail. As this was one of the most expensive places we stayed in Tuscany, while it does have remedying qualities, it was honestly a let down relative to the other hotels (particularly considering this was the most expensive).

Location Plus.
Location ++. We have seen some negative reviews about this place but our experience was superb with a very helpful team onsite. The view from the grounds is fantastic and chilling by the pool on a hot Tuscan day was wonderful. This is a converted monetary so people expecting a modern plush room should consider something else - but you will be missing out on something truly beautiful. The service was excellent.

An amazing property in a handy location if you have a car. Just a short 5 minute drive in to the n town. The pool was a bonus in the heat. The only negative was a preset air conditioner in the room which was set too high. We sweltered when in the room and despite asking for it to be adjusted a number of times nothing was done

The property was private and beautiful and the chef was wonderful. We had a fabulous meal and the service was friendly and efficient. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to get away from the crowds. The views were great also.

The property was very nicely manicured and the beds were very soft and comfortable. There should have been more staff on duty for the size of the property, however.

Great hotel near to the beautiful San Gimigiano
A very nice hotel, which has been very well restored from an old monastery. We had a lovely large room, with air conditioning, a very comfy bed, and a lovely bathroom. Although out of the centre of San Gimigiano, it is within walking distance of the town (20 mins), and we walked in almost every day during our stay. All of the staff were very friendly and professional. The breakfast is very good with an excellent selection of breads, cakes, fruit, cereals, yoghurts, meats, cheeses, jams, etc, and you can also have freshly made omlettes/eggs of your choice. We ate in the hotel restaurant one evening, and the food and service was very good. The pool area is very relaxing.

Beautiful location, unhelpful rude staff.
The location with a view over the town was lovely and so was the pool area. Unfortunately the service was not good and the hotel smelt musty. The reception staff were abrupt and management were rude and unaccommodating. Upon check-in we said that we had some Italian friends (a couple, no kids) in the area and we booked lunch for 4 at the terrace restaurant for 2 days later. The next day a manager told us that the restaurant would not be open but that our friends could join us by the pool and have a light lunch there, but that they could not swim in the pool as they were not insured. We said OK. We went out for lunch instead with our friends and then all came back to the pool, with the intention of spending an hour relaxing before they had to drive home. As soon as we had ordered drinks a staff member came out to us and said our friends were not allowed to be by the pool at all and they had to leave. This was incredibly embarrassing. If the hotel had said this policy in the beginning we would not have brought our friends in, but we did the right thing and asked in advance. To have the hotel tell us OK and and then have our friends turfed out (they were not even allowed to finish their drinks) was appalling. We were not noisy and they had been there only 10 minutes before they were asked to leave. We felt lied to and let down and were very unhappy about it. Do not offer one thing then take it back, especially not loudly in public and in front of our guests!

Dear Anonymous guest, We thank you for your review and for your stay. Unfortunately what you have written does not correspond in full to the truth. The day before the episode you refer to, you asked for a table with view for you and your two friends in our restaurant. We have informed you about the closing day of the restaurant but offered you the chance to have a light lunch by the pool. However we have clearly explained (as written everywhere by the pool, at the reception and in the info sheet you receive at check-in) that the pool can be used only by the hotel's guests. You did not show up for lunch, but on the other hand you and your friends were all in the pool in the afternoon, completely ignoring our advices. Our staff member waited for you to exit from the pool and invited your guests to sit elsewhere, explaining once more the reasons why they could not use the pool. He did not shout at all, as first it's not our usual behaviour, secondarily not to disturb the other guests. Concerning the room, we regret not having received any comment from you during your stay, as we could have certainly found a solution. Best Regards,

Great place to relax. Only thing missing is coffe on the lobby. Breakfast is open at 8 am. We are usually up at 6 am and there is no way to get coffe before then. I wich that had free coffe in the lobby fir the early birds.

Simply dreadful service
Beautiful location, ruined by indifferent, rude and aggressive staff. when we arrived. we asked for an early breakfast (7 AM) on our departure day. We were told it was impossible to have any food before 8 AM (4* hotel, really?) and if we were leaving early we should settle our bill the night before. Charming welcome! Later we were enjoying a quiet drink in the lounge when a receptionist walked in and without acknowledging us switched on a huge TV to a blaring football channel. The bar was unstaffed and we had to wander around looking for someone to serve. The same receptionist dismissively waved us away, Stating 'go to the garden, Someone will serve you'. The hotel was taken over by a wedding to whom the staff devoted all the attention. They removed breakfast tables as guests left, to set up for the wedding. We were banish to the pool for lunch as the wedding party took over all the eating area. At dinner we were sat at an outside table 5m from the wedding party and live band. When we told the waiter we have decided to go into town to dinner he angrily cleared our table whilst we sat at it. At midnight, When the loud wedding disco music was still blaring, we rang to ask when it would finish. The receptionist shouted down the phone 'Will finish soon, what's your problem?' Simply dreadful. And we can't complain to the hotel as reception staff twice told us they didn't know who the manager was or who ran the hotel. It beggars belief.

Great location, quiet hideaway on the edge of San Gimignano. Converted 15th century convent, beautiful architecture and grounds. Staff extremely accomodating. Superb breakfasts, the one dinner we had less so but short cab ride to town for many options.

A charming monastery built in 1587. This 20 rooms, one suite ,restaurant, , large pool, and gorgeous grounds is a must to visit. We stayed 4 days and it was not enough time to see and do everything.

We asked for extra pillows and sheets and the hotel charged us for 30 Euro for that. The hotel staff attitude was very bad and didn't behave nice to us. The hotel structure and overall view is amazing but definetly would not come back with this kind of service.

Dear Guest, we would like to remind you that you booked a room for two people and arrived at the hotel in 4. We offered you a second room, which costs much more than 30,00€, you refused it and asked for 4 more pillows, 4 extra sheets and 4 extra towels; we allowed you to sleep in 4 in a room for 2, which is not regular and gave you all you asked. If you think that 30,00€ for all you asked means bad service, we are really sorry, but we have a different point of view.

A Real Gem
This hotel ticked all the boxes for us. Wonderful setting only 5 mins drive to San Gimignano. Set in an old 16th Century nunnery. Absolutely loved the place. Only stayed two nights but wished it had been two weeks. Will definitely return.

Unexpected treasure. 20 minute walk from San Gimignano. Service is 1st class. Had to move rooms because of a last minute change and hotel staff stored and moved luggage and drove car and loaded luggage from room. Staff gave great recommendations on wineries.

Avoid the restaurant at all cost.
The hotel and setting are beautiful, but our stay was ruined by an inedible meal and the rude behavior of the hotel staff. Our filet was a miserable cut of meat, and quite possibly not beef. When we complained we were met with rude responses and told that we were wrong about the quality of the cut of meat. Enjoy the hotel, but don't eat at the on-site restaurant.

The air condition was turned off for the season so we had the windows open. Then it was quite noisey with the kitchen below the room....definitely ask for a room that is not above the kitchen. The restaurant was "fancy" but the food was just "OK" for the price paid. The dessert was horrible.

Beauty and serenity in Tuscany
We loved La Collegiate! This former convent is lovely and peaceful. The buildings and grounds (gardens, pool, patios) are beautiful and beautifully maintained. There's even a small open chapel with a fresco of St Francis of Assisi in it. The decor is the right blend of antique furnishings and modern comforts. Our room and bath were spacious. The views from our room stunning. Breakfast was amazing - with a broad array of fruits, yogurts, eggs (even scrambled), meats, cereals, breads and juices. Finally, the staff was warm and helpful while not being intrusive. It really felt a bit like being in a convent. Lovely and peaceful. The hotel is several km from San Gimignano, but the town is easy to get to and parking was plentiful (in October). It also became our base for exploring other towns in Tuscany.

Beautiful building and the surrounding area. View is to just amazing. Nice size room and the bathroom (annex 24), very clean, good power show. Breakfast is nice. Lot of choices, delicious pin nuts cake, it's the best we've had in Tuscany.Friendly staff. Nice 15-20 minutes walk to the town. Very quiet day and night. We would definitely stay again.

Gorgeous hotel, staff, and food!!
The hotel is gorgeous and we have no complaints about the cleanliness, the staff, or the food (restaurant is superb). The only reason we didn't rate it 5 stars all the way is that the air conditioning is not very strong and we didn't sleep well the first night due to the high temp in the room. We asked the staff to leave the AC on during turn down service the next few days and it did cool down after tentative.
