Worth it!
Stayed here with my husband during the Brazil 2014 World Cup. The main reason to pick this place was the location because it is very near from the Arena Fonte Nova where the matches took place and walking distance from Pelourinho (the historic centre). I was worried about some of the reviews posted in here mainly regarding the security of the neighborhood but there was no problems at all. If you use common sense and don't walk around showing your valuable stuff, you will not have any problems. The rooms have safebox and are very clean and staff is very helpful and kind. They can drive you to or from the airport (of course at an additional fee) but having the alternative gave us some peace of mind. They offer plenty of fruits and breads for breakfast as well as homemade fresh juices and jams. The only thing they can improve is providing wireless internet in all bedrooms (at the time of our visit, they only have Wi-Fi at the dining rooms).

We stayed here during the World Cup. The staff were very helpful and happy to assist when you asked. However, it is on a very sketchy street and the walk from town is not doable at night since its a very unsafe area. However, there is a security guard. The hotel rooms were ok, but old and falling apart. The mutual joint area of the poussada were nice. Breakfast was decent. Overall, staff was helpful but location isn't ideal.

The location is great and it is a nice historic building. Staff is good. However it is very loud at nights and sometimes impossible to sleep.

Very poor 3-person room
Stayed during the world cup, so prices were expectedly high. Was very disappointed with the quality of the 3-person room we stayed in -- looked nothing like the photos, the only furniture looked like it has been picked up off the street. The hotel staff was helpful, but the location did not seem safe.

Close to the pelorinho, which is very charming, however this hotel is the Saude neighborhood which is not particularly safe, especially at night. Rooms were in fair condition at best and wifi didn't work outside the main lobby/dining area. If you cannot get lodging in the pelorinho this is an option but would recommend a place in the pelorinho if possible.

The rooms are very basic, but spotlessly clean and as promised (safe, bed, TV, shower) and the courtyard is beautiful. Very nice breakfast and helpful staff. As they say in their description, it is just outside the main tourist area, so you have to walk down a very steep hill and up a very steep hill to get to the old city. And the area between the hotel and the old city doesn't feel unsafe during the day, but feels slightly edgy at night.

someone please explain how this place was so highly ranked?
the pousada had minimum maintenance and a depressing, unwelcoming feel. there's a well-stocked fridge and a safe, air conditioning, and a living area. Everything you need for your stay is there in terms of basic amenities, but not worth it for the price being charged. the towels were clean, but still looked old and dingy. i did not touch them. how much could it cost to buy new towels and bedsheets, in the land of inexpensive, high-quality Brazilian cotton? the bathroom was clean, but still looked dirty. the sofa looked worn and used, and not in a charming, vintage way. more like a nasty, second-hand college dorm room kinda way. i would say that sums it up - the owner needs to put in some effort to improve the place, especially given that it's not that great of an expense to do so.

Não cheguei a ficar na pousada, estava obrigada a pagar um valor extra, fora o valot acordado no site, o dono estava alcoolizado, e o tratamento horrível, me sentir constrangida e com medo até de agressão, pelo mesmo, solicitei de imediato o cancelamento da reserva ele se negou, e eu entrei no App do cartão solicitei o cancelamento, fiquri até 3 da manhã, procurando outro lugar, tive que dormir no carro, pois nao encontrei vagas em canto nenhum,como faço para estornar o valor?

não houve estadia, ao chegar no local fomos muito mal atendidos pelo proprietário e desistimos da estadia, através da recomendação da pessoa que nos atendeu ,na mesma hora e antes das 14 horas prevista para o in´cio da estadia enviamos várias mensagens vocês sobre a alteração da reserva. Ficamos na pousada da mangueira, muito boa, porém pagamos a reserva e pagamos a nova estadia porque não houve condições de ficar na barroco, foi até melhor, mas o que pagamos e não usamos, como fica? Conforme norma, pagamos no ato da reserva, nem iniciamos a estadia, tentamos contato e recebemos de vocês uma avaliação, então nossa comunicação nem foi lida, vocês estão iguais ao dono da barroco, lá nunca mais...será que com vocês também? falta de respeito, isso é comércio e internacional não pode ser assim.

A pousada é em um casarão histórico, com imagens e mobiliários antigos, barrocos. A proposta é esta, então não espere modernidades. O ar condicionado é tipo janela, mas funcionou muito bem. O café da manhã é servido em um jardim super agradável, com muitas árvores e é muito bom. O quarto é de bom tamanho e bem limpo. O dono é bastante simpático e receptivo.

A pousada possui boa localização para quem deseja aproveitar o centro histórico de Salvador, mas deixa a desejar no quesito conforto dos quartos. Ficamos em um quarto com uma cama e colchão antigos e muito desconfortáveis. O box do banheiro estava quebrado e dificultava o uso do chuveiro. O café da manhã é simples.
