Great location
The hotel is very nice. The only thing that needed help was the air conditioner which really didn’t work and the shower had a lot of mildew by the door.

We loved our stay! The staff were all very friendly and helpful. It was wonderful to be staying so central to all the action of Roma too. Many restaurants, cafes, markets and landmarks within walking distance. Would highly recommend!

Hotel well located. Room not recommended.
The hotel is well located with short/reasonable walks to most tourist areas. Close to a market square and restaurants. The room was very shabby and extremely noisy. Many items in the room were broken or not in good condition (eg. Aircon broken, wiring and power points broken, toilet seat falling off, shower mixer broken and often switched off when being used, hairdryer overheats and becomes too hot to hold, jug wired to light switch, towels threadbare etc.). Room was directly above a popular, local outside restaurant, serving cheap alcohol, which operated past midnight. Once clients left then staff noisily stacked chairs and tables and cleared away - this took an hour or more. Then rubbish contractors collected bins and bottles. There was a small window of about 2 hours where there was minimal noise where you might be able to sleep. Due to the broken aircon, there was a freestanding replacement aircon taking up a large amount of the limited floor space in the room. This aircon required the window over the street to remain open for it to operate. There was no way to close the window to shut out street noise. This freestanding aircon was also very noisy - like a jet taking off and then suddenly cutting out the engine - there was no way to sleep well in the room. In our 5 weeks travel this was the worst place we stayed. It was over 300 Euros a night and definitely not worth it. Not recommended.

Had a lovely 4 night stay here and would definitely stay here when we return at some point. Great location, excellent staff (special mention to the super polite and conscientious lad who waited on us in the breakfast area!), rooms cleaned everyday and fresh towels. Breakfast was amazing value and always really fresh with lots of choice. Also breakfast room was so unique being set underneath the hotel in ruins. Rooms were good sized, windows were very soundproof, air con was freezing cold which was much needed during our very hot week. Fridge, kettle and safe in room too. It did feel a little old/dated but to be honest we liked this...it added to the charm of the hotel. We also felt really safe there and god to know it was manned 24/7. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we have already recommend to friends :)

This is the perfect hotel to stay while in Rome, reasons: - Location: Walkable distance from the majority of Rome attractions, 15 to 20 minutes..(Piazza Navona at 5 minutes). - Cleanness: The room and the bathroom was very clean - Breakfast included: very good choices -Staff: Everyone was very friendly and helpful - 15 taxi minutes from Rome Termini I also loved the fact that the hotel is build upon a real Rome theatre, you can actually see the ruins at the reception. ***The front face of the hotel might discourage you from booking but the inside is very nice, son don’t let that bother you.

Very nice European style hotel very close to the old town tourist sites. Some of the rooms have windows opening to the outside, some open to the shared stairwell. Tv never worked while I was there, but everything else was nice. Bed was clean, shower hot and breakfast was as expected, simple but nice.

The hotel was exactly what we’re after for our few days in Rome. It’s in a great location within a 2 minute walk from Campo Di Fiore (via the secret tunnel) and all the other major sites in Rome are not too far way and are definitely within walking distance (eg. Vatican is a very comfortable 30 mins). Trastevere is just a quick walk across the river. The staff on the front desk were all really helpful and we really enjoyed our stay.

This is a classic older Hotel with amazing location in the center of old Rome. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It is not fancy, but is comfortable and quiet. Nice breakfast every morning in the lower level that is literally old walls of the Theater of Pompey built in 55 BC. Our room had a small refrigerator- never used the TV (there is so much to see in Rome!) so not sure about that. Wi-fi was great in our room and the lobby, but the basement wi-fi is sketchy. We had a great stay there and I recommend it to anyone wanting to be in the middle of things in Rome!

Lots of value at this small, family run hotel
The Hotel Teatro di Pompeo is a simple, family run hotel in a great area. The entrance is hard to find in what is essentially a large (hence the word Largo in the street name) area between streets, which is filled with cars. This should not put you off, but if noise bothers you, ask for an interior room overlooking the stairwell, which is rarely used because guest use a small elevator to access their rooms. If you think of the hotel as being vintage, you will be happy. What the hotel does offer are spacious rooms with lots of amenities including free WIFI; small shoe sponges to clean up shoes; wall safes;a mini bar that has room for the guests own goods; a small electric kettle for making tea (if you like milk in your English breakfast tea, buy a small bottle of milk for about 1 Euro from a local market and store it in the mini-bar) great water pressure with plenty of hot water;two computers in the downstairs lounge; paperback books left by other guests; good lighting; individually controlled heating and air conditioning; a fair assortment of breakfast items served buffet style, but at tables laid with ironed linen table cloths and napkins, and a friendly staff. The location is fantastic being just off the Corso, and close to both the Campo dei Fiori and the Piazza Navonna. There are lots of places to eat and shop in the area. This hotel offers lots of comfort at a reasonable rate in area filled with sights.

This hotel is in a perfect position to explore old Rome on foot. Nowhere seemed too far to walk, but take sensible shoes as all roads are cobbled. We stayed in the annexe which is across the square from the hotel. Our room was on the third floor - up 50 steps (no lift) but was relatively quiet. Although a bit dated, all areas of the hotel and annexe were spotlessly clean. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The hotel is very well situated in a historic part of the city, close to the Pantheon and Piazza Navona, reasonable walk to the Vatican or Colosseum, and next to the Campo di Fiori with its market and busy nightlife. It's rather noisy, but that's because it is convenient to restaurants etc. The reception staff and housekeeping were all extremely good. The downside is that the hotel is very tired. It looks like it was fitted out in the 70s and not touched since. The bathrooms in particular need updating. Breakfast is served in the 'historic' Roman underground theatre, which sounds lovely, but we found the reality to be a bit depressing in a concreted cellar with little natural light. We had a very pleasant stay of 7 nights but, for a place that charges quite a high rate, it should have been much better.

A good find
A great little hotel close to many of the famous sights. If you are not into walking it is very near an excellent bus route as well as the tram. There are lots of good restaurants in the area. The breakfast which is included is very substantial. There are several areas in the hotel where you can relax and take a break from sightseeing. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Our two night stay at Hotel Teatro di Pompeo was satisfactory. Accommodations were clean and spacious. There are some opportunities for improvement such as: the breakfast buffet (lacked selection, quality was fair at best); wifi was down for the two days that were there with little urgency expressed by staff or management. In today's world, reliability of connectivity is a must even when on vacation given that excursions, restaurant bookings, etc. are mostly done via web. Location was superb as it is centrally located (1/2 hour walk to Vatican and Coloseum).

Slightly tired hotel with potential
The hotel staff where friendly and the room of a good size however it looked very tired and in need of some serious renovation/redecoration. Breakfast was okay. The immediate location is very scruffy but you are only a few hundred metres from some decent shopping streets.

Nice hotel and location, friendly staff. An old Theatre. Taxi driver dropped me at wrong place, a closed up old theatre, a walk away, make sure this doesn't happen to you. It was dark and no one could help find, No sign, nothing lit up for night time. Finally, another hotel w a light on, assisted me and it was just 150 feet away, can i suggest getting a lighted up Hotel Sign here?

Great position for us to explore Rome
Had a lovely week in this location. The hotel was central to a lot of the attractions of Rome in walking distance. Check in was easy and check out even easier. We spent most of the day out of the hotel but whatever time we came back there was a member of staff with a greeting. When we booked we knew there was no lift in the annex (the only room available when we booked) but three floors up was difficult after two days in the heat for my husband and his disability. They offered us a move over to the main hotel when someone checked out on a lower floor with lift access. Staff were knowledgeable about the area and gave good advice. Try the food at the Trattoria practically next door. It was the nicest we sampled around the area though there are hundreds to choose from. It was nice having breakfast in the old theatre ruins in the cellar.
