The rooms are a little bit small look bigger in photos as the bathrooms are quite small as well as the room the staff are excellent facilities were good the food at dinner was excellent but waiting times were ridiculous 45 to 1 hr. the tropical breakfast needs to be reviewed no good if you have diabetes or are you I gluten free is all there was was toast and fruit universe cereal overall the place is nice.

Enjoyed that if it rained you could go anywhere on the property without getting wet. Lots of things to do. Great layout and nice pool. Able to see lots of fish from the dining area.

Great for kids. Didn’t love the food but otherwise recommended for families and people who like to snorkel. The snorkelling out the front is unreal!

The hotel needs alot of upgrade, this rarotongan hotel is not lively, it needs to be the same hotel back in 2002. This hotel was the best back then, my brother and his wife had their honeymoon there in 2002. And it was the best hotel ive visited as a local. But now is not the same experience. You need to up your game, be more like edgewater resort.

Gorgeous location right on the lagoon which has many fish species that are rarely seen. Loved the snorkeling! Our 2 bedroom apartment did not have ac in the rooms, just the corridor- my friend slept in the living room. Also Wi-Fi has to be purchased but I think that’s true of all hotels in the Cooks. Nice food and great views!! I’d recommend this hotel

Great staff.
The best part of the stay was the interaction with the hotel's staff. They were all very friendly, hospitable and were willing to do whatever it took to make your stay enjoyable. Even while catching the bus with them after they had finished their workday was fun.

Excellent snorkelling and all the kit easily available to hire out for free. Varied activities suitable for wide age range of kids and nice relaxed atmosphere. Staff were super helpful in arranging taxis and restaurant bookings and they put on a shuttle for the night market which was a plus. Would definitely recommend and hopefully will be back!

We loved our stay at The Rarotongan and were returning after staying there 28 years ago on our honeymoon. We were pleased to find the resort still much the same and staff still welcoming, friendly and helpful. The new deck at the waters edge and the declaration of a marine reserve in the Lagoon are great initiatives. Fish feeding off the deck is a sight to behold and the lagoon teaming with sea life. We travelled everywhere on the circle island bus that pulls up at reception 30mins past the hour in the clockwise direction and 10 past the hour (?) in the anticlockwise direction. Buy a 10 trip pass for $30 and get on and off where you like, just hail the bus and it’ll pull up anywhere! On the downside, we were in a room that interconnected with another and unfortunately the interconnecting part was not well insulated which meant we could hear our neighbours frequent fights. We also found the breakfast buffet disappointing and a bit pricey for what it was so we skipped breakfast most days but the rest of the food and the cocktails were great. It got very windy on our last couple of days which made the beach at The Rarotongan a bit unpleasant but a bus trip to Blackrock on the other side of the island means a sheltered beach can still be found. There’s also plenty of walks and cycling as cold or windy weather options. Rarotonga is a great place to visit and the Rarotongan a great place to stay as a base

Our family enjoyed our holiday, waiting for our dinner was way to long, nearly 2hrs before it came. And some dishes were not very nice at all. The pizzas were the only nicest. The breakfast could've had more options, like some bake beans or spaghetti. We were on beachside and fridge could've been bigger or even up high as it was way to low.

I was disappointed that my beachside room was actually garden view. There was a sandy area off of the patio, not the ocean. We had to walk through beach front rooms and villas to reach the ocean. The staff was wonderful and the grounds were well maintained.

Beachfront accommodation is directly located on the beach with a direct outlook of the lagoon. Very Nice place friendly staff.... great location beach etc .... But.... The Rarotongian needs to reveiw its pricing, and include free shuttle to and from the Airport.... with a family of 4 or more is very expensive to get to the Rarotongian from Airport ... a family of 5 (3 adults & 2 as childs ) cost $80 NZD one way .... many customers maybe shocked at this price .... If Shuttle Service is built into the Room Price and Free Shuttle pick up / drop off allot of people would b very excited to stay here...

Unfortunately we use a third party vendor for airport transfers. We also recommend using taxis as an option. The generally charge 20 per adult and 10 per child.
