Portrush Travel Guide

Tourist Guide
Portrush showing general coastal views and rugged coastline
Explore the scenic beaches and rocky cliffs of this quaint coastal resort. Bring the kids to the waterpark and laser tag facilities.

Portrush is a pleasant town on the northern coast of Northern Ireland. The resort consists of a 1-mile (1.6-kilometer) peninsula jutting out into the sea. It attracts vacationers from Belfast with its dunes, sea cliffs and serene ambiance. Bring your family to explore the castle, beaches and waterpark.

Stroll along the picturesque stretches of sand that make up Portrush Beach. Visit the harbor and spot porpoises at West Strand Beach. Surf or paddleboard on the choppy water of East Strand Beach. The North Coast Sea Kayak Trail starts here.

Walk east to the stunning limestone cliffs of White Rocks Beach. Clamber over rocks and hide in caves with your family. Snap photos of Causeway Headland and the Skerries rocks.

Near the beach is Dunluce Castle, a ruined medieval structure sitting atop a rocky hill. Cross the bridge to reach the 13th-century isolated vestige that belonged to many noble families over the centuries.

Bring the kids to Waterworld, an indoor swimming pool with thrilling slides and water cannons. Get a beach-themed summer vacation photo even on a rainy day. The complex also has a ten-pin bowling facility. Another family highlight is the Dunluce Centre, which has laser tag, a play adventure area and a four-dimensional motion simulator. Climb the complex’s viewing tower for panoramic views of Portrush.

Enjoy the stunning landscape of dunes, cliffs and hills with a round of golf at the Royal Portrush Golf Club.

The lush green fields of Portrush result from the region’s high levels of rain. Sunbathe on the beach in summer and ride horses along the coast in winter.

Select from many accommodations choices in the center of the Portrush peninsula, where hotels, restaurants and bars line the streets.

The seaside resort is in County Antrim in the northern part of the country. Ride a train north for about an hour from Belfast to Portrush Railway Station.

Portrush is a tranquil family resort with playground adventures and an array of picturesque beaches.
