Perfect quick getaway
Very nice accommodations. We really enjoyed the pool and outside hanging by the canal. The bed was very comfortable. Everything was very clean, nice and as advertised actually better. Linda the host was very kind and helpful. There was just two of us for 3 nights and did not utilize a large portion of the house. We plan on returning with family for fall break. There was all kinds of beach gear and pool stuff. The kitchen had all you need to prepare meals. Overall a lovely house and experience.

Great family vacation spot
As a family with 2 boys we loved this house! Our boys hardly left the warm pool- aside from our many trips to the beach at Boca grande. We also loved being able to watch the sunrise each morning and fishing from the dock even if we didn’t catch anything. The house came with almost everything we needed and communication with the host and property management was great and we had no issues while we were there. We love staying in this area and we’re very happy with our stay at this property!

Great location near lots to do.
We enjoyed the canal view and beautiful sunrises! The hosts were easily accessible and prompt. There are several state parks nearby if you love nature as well as bird sanctuaries and beaches. No lack of things to enjoy. We hope to come again.

The house was perfect! Its also in a wonderful neighborhood! The only flaw is it does not have high speed wifi so if you have kids on ipads or gamers it will not keep up! Would definitely recommend this house!

Beautiful, spacious home, true to listing. Large, clean, warm pool. Made use of the kitchen and laundry facilities. Enjoyed the view of the canal from both kitchen and lanai. Make sure you ask as many questions as you can think of because their pictures were Not up to date when we booked. It showed a pool “cage” which had been destroyed by a hurricane at least a year before. This was a weekend away for my wife’s birthday. After a 5 hour drive she ended up having to clean the dirty refrigerator before being able to put our food in it (while I was vacuuming the couch so she could sit on it). The beds were Very comfortable! First impressions are Great sometimes but left a negative mark on us here. Drive up to a “Luxe” house with weeds in cracks of the driveway and other areas of the yard. The “welcoming” front door was very dirty and so on. The management company is just not doing a good job for the owner.

Sorry, we were not ready for this guest's reservation and had suggested that they choose another available weekend. Hurricane Ian that hit at the end of September 2022 and almost destroyed our home. We quickly rebuilt with lots of updates including a new pool cage that was just completed the day Ralph checked in. Hurrican Idalia hit the Gulf of Florida within the 2 days prior to Ralph checking in. Even though this time we did not get a direct hit the outer bands dumped lots of rain and wind preventing our lawn service from getting in that week. The bridge from Punta Gorda to Port Charlotte was closed due to flooding preventing our regular cleaning service to get there. We found this guest to be unkind and ungracious even after we refunded his reservation and the cleaning fee. The home was restored to its original glory the day this guest left and the new pool cage looks better than the pictures because it had less obstruction with improved materials.

Great location and space!
Overall our week stay was great! We were very comfortable in this home as there is great space for a large family. Location is perfect. Anywhere we wanted to go was within a 5 to 20 minute drive. Home is in a beautiful and quiet neighborhood. However, disappointed in the cleanliness of the home and patio. It appeared to have been surfaced cleaned and not deep cleaned. For a vacation home, this is unacceptable and did ruin a lot vacay vibes for me. The patio had piles of pool floats and seat cushions at one end. The table and chairs for the dock were tossed in yard and there was a lot of weeds and overgrowth near dock so we didn’t use it like we wanted to. The pool was cloudy during our stay but received maintenance. The back bedroom window would not stay closed (old dated crank windows). We did not contact the owner/property manager and just cleaned ourselves. No cleaning supplies other than 2 dishwasher pods and windex so did pick up some from store down the road. Plenty of towels in the home but stained and mixed matched and the kitchen, though was well stocked, had very old and dated utensils and pots. The fridge’s water and ice dispenser was disgusting so we bought bottled water and ice. The home is dated. Couldn’t open the blinds in the master bedroom. Made me feel like we were staying at a someone’s grandmas house. Hate to leave negative remarks because we did have a great week in Florida at this home but I don’t think I would stay at this home again.

The House in the Sun is everything the ad said it would be. Check in was seem less, the property manager was very attentive and prompt, the beds comfy! The location was perfect and in the garage there were coolers and beach chairs. The pool was beautiful! The noseeums at night were relentless but they didn’t come out until later on. It was peaceful and quiet and felt very safe.

Great family vacay but the bugs.
Since the moment we booked our family vacay we counted down the months. We had a great time but the pool cage was GREATLY missed. The reason we booked the house was for the pool and the easy access to fishing. The bugs were terrible and that was after we fogged the yard twice. The boys caught assorted fish and had a great time. Bikes were used almost every night. House was clean. We made great memories on our vacay.

Great house with pool not far from beach
This house was a nice home away from home. Not too far from the beach, restaurants or the grocery store. The only thing that I can complain about is that we were informed that the screen covering for the pool had been down since the hurricane. We got eaten alive by bugs. Not using the pool after dark was not an option for us. We had our kids with us and got a house with a pool just for them. They weren't going to not use the pool during that time. Not a dealbreaker but would of been nice to have the option of cancelling if we wanted to. All that said, this was a great little place for a family vacation.

Great home for family fun
The house was stocked with enough to get you started and clean. Stores are a short drive away. Walking and biking paths right out the door. Owner and manager answered within minutes if anything was needed. We stayed with my wifes parents and our 3 children. The master has its own bathroom and is on the other side of the house giving some separation for her parents. Pool was warm and ready for the kids to play. Grill and all appliances worked as they should. Great place.

Great two week stay
We stayed for two weeks at the Third Ray of Sun. This is our 3rd year staying in this neighborhood, we love SGC. The house is a little older but is in very good shape. The cage over the pool was lost in Hurricane Ian and has not been replaced yet, but we understand why and that was not an issue. We had great communication with the owner and with the property manager. We had a few times we need to reach out to the property manager and she was very quick to respond. We used the bikes that were provided almost everyday. We spent many days on the beach, there are many beaches close by. We enjoyed our stay so much we have already booked a stay again for 2 weeks next year.

Quiet and peaceful location
We enjoyed our stay at Third Ray of Sun. It’s so peaceful having our morning coffee, watching the birds, and seeing the occasional fish jumping across the canal. We did miss the pool cage, but we were aware it probably wouldn’t be replaced before our visit. The house was clean and well stocked with towels and incidentals needed upon our arrival. A great place to stay!

Wonderful vacation
We had a great week of vacation here. Very clean large home with all amenities. The pool and property was great. Pretty view of the inter coastal canal way. Fished every day but not very successful in catching much. Centrally located to great beaches and golf courses, all within 15 -30 minutes driving. Enjoyed a few bike rides and bikes were provided in garage. Check in was super easy, would highly recommend this property for a family vacation. Very responsive and friendly owners. Enjoyed ourselves very much!

Disappointing - Green Pool
House is roomy, nicely decorated, comfortable and very clean. Great for families as the house was equipped with extras like towels, pool and bikes. However, the pool was very green when we arrived which spoiled the ambiance of the lanai, one of the main reasons we chose this house. We maintain a very large outdoor pool at our home and this could have been corrected prior to our arrival Saturday night. Instead they waited until the (regularly scheduled?) professional pool care on Monday. Thus pool was only clean to look at and to swim the night before we left. The sink in master bath has no stopper, just a large drain hole. They could have at least provided a rubber stopper. There were no towels in master bath and had to get them from the closet in the other bathroom at the other end of the house, no soap and several light bulbs out in the fixture. There were no extra blankets anywhere in house. It was hard to sleep for us who are used to comforters. We ended up buying one. Master bath shower floor was very slippery and could use a non-slip mat. The lighting in the NE living room was a bit dim with a burned out bulb. The kitchen also had burned out florescent bulb. Paying attention to details makes a difference. Overall I was disappointed with our stay.

So sorry about the pool. We found out that the skimmer was not functioning properly and had an extensive repair done just after your stay. All of our beds have quilts and in August we were not expecting anyone to need more when the outside temp is in the 80ies and 90ies. We do try to make every guest happy.

Nice house, just too far out for us
The house was nice. The pool was nice just wish the filter would have worked a little more or stronger. The water got cloudy towards the end of our stay. I didn’t realize how far away we would be from stores and restaurants. If you are looking to just stay and cook then this is a good house. With teenagers there wasn’t enough to do at the house.

We are happy that you loved our home. The pool was clean and sparkling when you checked in and our pool service installed a new filter in the last couple of months. Any cloudy could come from contaminants. We will check with our pool service to make sure everything is working properly. Your stay was only for 3 nights so it is surprising that your teens were not able to find anything to do. The home has WiFi, Cable, bicycles and bike trails, a pool, fishing from the yard and dock and a park in walking distance. The area contains several ocean beaches. When you go to Yelp and enter best 10 nearby restaurants from South Gulf Cove, you get them starting with 1.6 miles to 10 miles. When you go to Google and enter shopping near 33981 you even get a mall. You can get to Punta Gorda and Fisherman's Village using the shortcut in 20 to 25 minutes. South Gulf Cove is special as it is in a wildlife preserve and less developed and less crowded than most parts of Florida.

Fun family time, some issues
Stayed for 1 week at this home. Location was about 15 mins from Wal-Mart but there are closer grocery store options. Lots of restaurants and gas stations within a 10 minute drive. Stayed in June and most places closed by 9pm so plan ahead. Check-in process was so easy, used a keypad for entry and it was very convenient. The pool was always hot- 86 degrees. Mosquitos were rampant and will swarm the vehicle as soon as you open the doors, literally unavoidable but very irritating when getting groceries. Loved the end of the block location, it was very quiet, no issues. The water pressure was such a nuisance. Although there are 2 bathrooms, you can only use 1 shower at a time (or run the hose for the pool) which was not mentioned in the listing for the house. None of the sinks will run water sufficiently while anything else is on. Since we had 6 people including kids, this really delayed our day. The hot tub took an extensive amount of time to try to fill because of the water pressure being so low so it was not worth the trouble. The main shower water just trickled out. We did not try to call the property manager, until day 5 of our stay when the shower head actually stopped working in the main bathroom. This left us with 1 shower for 6 people. This was a big deal because we go swimming daily and we all shower after swimming. I left a voicemail since the property manager did not answer. I did not want to bother the owners for this issue because I thought the property manager would call back. We never received a call back. 2 days later, I called the property manager and spoke with Laurie, she said she never received my call or my message. I asked for a late check out since check out time is early (10am) and all 6 of us needed to shower with 1 shower before getting on the road for 20 hours. Laurie said she could only give us 30 extra minutes. It was disappointing. The communication was non-existent and I wish I would have followed my instincts and called the owners when we first had the issues, instead of allowing the property manager to call back (or not) on her own accord. The house itself was pretty clean except for the food on the couches when we arrived, the mildew in the showers, and the thick dust everywhere. It just needs a deep cleaning. Must buy your own toilet paper, soap, etc but to be expected. Property outdated, not contemporary as listed but we truly enjoyed our time there and other than the few issues, we absolutely enjoyed the area.

Thankfully the water pressure is now wonderful! Port Charlotte's water utilities has found and fixed the issue. We are so sorry about the water pressure during your stay. We had just had plumbers in and knew that the issue was not from within the home. Some folks operate with the idea that the best defense for breaking things is to offer up an offence. Our group consisted of 3 adults 2 kids! Check in was easy, house was spacious and the set up was great! We enjoyed fishing off the dock, going to nearby beaches and hanging out in the pool. It had everything we needed! The naborhood was peaceful an port charlotte in general is a wonderful place with good people!The only 2 negatives which was no big deal would be the shower heads kinda suck as the water doesn't come out very strong more of a trickle but got the job done and the noseeums(tiny mosquitoes usually seasonal may/june)were pretty bad an loved me more than any of the others in my group but bug spray did help! Overall highly recommend home and host would definitely return! We visit at least once a year!

We really enjoyed this rental. We had 4 adults, and the layout was perfect for us. One couple stayed in the master and the other couple stayed in the opposite end of the house. Both had very comfy beds and we really enjoyed the pool area. The only issue we ran into was the lack of water pressure, but we all just took turns taking showers and it was fine.

Quiet roomy home, it's a little bit of a drive from some stores but that's really not a big deal considering you get a quiet spot on the corner and don't have to worry about neighbors being on top of you. I look forward to renting again in the future if it's still available on future trips.

Quiet and peaceful setting
We really enjoyed the spacious home with a large yard extending along a corner of the canals. Some fixtures and appliances are a bit dated but worked as needed. Due to the cool winter temps, we didn't get to use the pool as much as we hoped. We enjoy the area with all of the walking and biking trails within the South Gulf Cove neighborhood and several attractions and beaches close by.

Nice home in a nice neighbourhood. Good size for 4 adults and 2 children. Very comfortable beds and warm pool during the month of December. Neighbourhood nice with everyone saying hello to us when we went for a walk. The only issue was all the bugs on the lanai. We were literally eaten alive if we sat anywhere there was carpet. The cement area around the pool was better but eventually our daughter and children got severely bitten also when using the pool so they left a week early. The property Manager was polite and understanding and suggested various products to reduce the amount of bites and the subsequent itching and inflamation. My wife and I had to cover up completely if we sat out n the lanai which is not always comfortable when its 85 degrees outside. I would highly suggest that all carpetting be removed outside on the lanai as I believe that is the problem area. All told I would return and recommend this home for rental.

The no-see-um were breeding in the potted plants, on the lanai and we have fixed that problem. We called our exterminators, and they added a yard spray to our service so we hope that will help prevent future bug bites.
