nice shower room. lovely hospitality tray with hot chocolate and biscuits and water. Staff really nice and friendly. nice to be able to come and go at the side of the bar area. It was very convenient to where my friend lives and works. Hoping to be back later this year. many thanks.

So we booked this at last minute due to a hiccup Elsewhere The hotel is an old pub/ hotel The owner is a great guy who is very pleasant and is turning it into his place The rooms are being worked on the bathrooms in all the rooms we had4no were great all the guys loved them I was the only one to eat here as it was only a one night stay Wow I had the meat box wings ribs and doing rooms -delicious and saves too We were only passing through but please give it a go if passing again I would boom this place especially for the food

Clean but shabby
The Ox has great curb appeal but not very welcoming on entering, it felt abandoned and we had to look for someone to check us in. The room was spacious and clean but definitely needs some work, a lot of cracks in the plaster and missing grouting in bathroom. The room was cold when we entered but didn’t take long to warm up when the radiator was turned on, lots of condensation around the windows and curtains damp by morning. A comfy night and only minor tweaks to make it great 😊 The free parking on site was a definite bonus!

It was unique in the fact that there were bed bugs in my room. The manager wasn’t there in the morning and I was given a fake email address to contact her to discuss the matter further.

The Service was amazing and breakfast was excellent I would recommend to anyone who is stopping overnight to take the ferry from Poole or returning, staff were friendly an welcoming, with a sound can do attitude

Very dark and dingy room. Fire Alarm kept going off which didn’t help whilst trying to sleep. Furniture shabby. Bed linen clean and fresh towels daily. Poor lighting in bathroom.

Fabulous location spacious room. Back of hotel best due to trams running directly outside front. Rooms dark due to age of property etc but well equipped comfortable and roomy. Our only complaint was the hotel booked 2 trips for us, the times for both were changed but we were not informed Hotel staff friendly and helpful with excellent English Overall would definitely recommend

A very good ‘restaurant with rooms’ hotel. Super comfy beds, excellent breakfast, very friendly staff. The corridors and staircase are looking a little tired but our room was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Highly recommend the restaurant too, had a great atmosphere and good food.

We stayed for two nights. Overall, an amazing stay. The bed was so super comfy! The room and facilities were good. The bathroom was big and modern. The only downside was having no door to the toilet! The restaurant/bar was beautiful whether there for drinks in the evening or having a meal. Breakfast had a lot of options and was also lovely. Staff were really friendly and helpful

Staff were very friendly. We arrived late at night and left early the following morning, not stopping for breakfast. Our room was at the front of the hotel and there was a lot of noise from the road. There was no remote control so we couldnt turn on the TV. There was no matress protector on the bed and the duvet was stained.

Not exactly what I expected from a 3.5 star “8.0/10 Very good” hotel. Staff were friendly, our bed was relatively comfortable and shower room was new and clean. But photos of the rest of the rooms on Hotels.com are either really old or photoshoped. We were in a dark room on the top floor with very low and slopped ceiling, only 1 out of the 5 light bulbs of the main light was working. The room was so small they couldn’t even fit a chair in. The carpet was old and the furniture dated. We were also facing the main road but had no net curtains, the main curtain did not block UK summer morning sun well so we were woken up at 4am; that’s after struggling to fall asleep the night before as the windows were not soundproof at all so you can hear all the Saturday night clubbers looking for late night snacks. The heater was also broken – we could not switch it off on one of the hottest days in the year. I thought I’d give an independent boutique hotel a try but after this I think I’ll go back to chain inns in future..

It was okay for a 3.5 star but the room was like a sauna couldn’t sleep, the noise from outside made it even worse as we could not close the window, which was stuck, even if we had managed to close the window the room would have been more unbearable to sleep in c/o heat. There was no one I could ask for a fan as it was quite late when we made it to our room. Bathrooms are very nice, the room could do with a carpet upgrade.
