So, for me, if I book a La Quinta it's because I'm looking for an affordable, run of the mill motel/hotel where I can rest my head. I'll probably be there for far less than 24 hours and as long as it is clean, the rooms are somewhat updated, and the beds don't totally suck, I'm happy. I don't expect much. Sometimes I'm looking for an airport shuttle, sometimes a pool.
This La Quinta totally blew my mind. It was much cheaper than any other area hotel I could find - even the "dicey" looking ones. It has been newly remodeled (the Expedia Pictures have not been updated. It does not look like the pictures AT ALL). The rooms are very nicely appointed, modern and tasteful. The bed was super comfy with lots of pillows and just the right amount of blankets. The pool and jacuzzi are small, but very nice and private. The staff was amazing and attentive. Breakfast was as good as any hotel of this caliber.
One of the staff (Tahlor) even let us stash four 9 foot plus surf and paddle boards in an office behind the desk so we didn't have to deal with getting them up to our rooms for the night. She was working the next morning as well. So sweet and hard working. The night manager let us sit in the jacuzzi passed closing time without us even asking for the privilege while he took care of a few other duties. Overall, I felt I was given mini-resort experience with an extremely high level of customer service and amenities for such a small, inexpensive otherwise "no frills" hotel.
