Very friendly and helpful staff. Get a map at the front. Breakfast was pretty good: oatmeal, fruit, pastries, eggs, cereals, waffle maker. King room is nice with a microwave and fridge. Queen rooms don't have these. Very clean room.

Vacation to visit north and west region of Michigan, although weather was not so good, we had good trace experience. All the hotels booked were clean and convenient to scenery place. All staff we met in service were very good and polite. Hopefully, we will visit the area again.

Loved the staff they were friendly, and efficient. Rooms were clean and nice, although a little cramped for a double bed room. Had an ok breakfast selection. Prices were reasonable. Will surely go back.
Clean and quiet with a beautiful view. Staff was polite, courteous and professional. We had a wonderful experience. Petoskey was gorgeous. They provided everything we needed and made for an excellent stay. We would recommend The Bay Inn to anyone visiting the area. We had easy access to the downtown area and the front garden area was very nice. 5 star accommodations. We will definitely be back.

I'm pretty picky about how clean a hotel is and I have to tell you this is one of the cleanest places I've ever stayed. Normally I would run the other way from the words, "Super 8," but after reading other customer reviews we decided to take a chance and I am so happy we did. My family has stayed there twice now and will continue to stay there when we visit the Petoskey area. First off, the staff is so friendly and helpful. Loved them. Secondly, as I said, the rooms were super clean. Third, the pool and hot tub were both large and clean in a pretty large area with a concrete floor that wasn't slippery at all. If you have kids that like to swim this was definitely a draw. Fourth, the breakfast was good, about the same as other "free" breakfasts, no better or worse. However, the room it was in was really big with lots of seating, and the food was well stocked and monitored by an awesome woman who made you feel like you were eating in her kitchen. Now all those great things being said, if you are looking for high-end luxury, this is not the place for you. This is a cozy, mom and pop type atmosphere with simple but nice and clean acommodations.
"Excellent location, in the heart of Harbor Springs"
The Colonial Inn is a throwback to the bygone era of the family resort. The hotel would best be described as charming. Don't expect the services of the big chain hotels at this resort, but that is exactly why we like it. I spend 20 nights per year at 5 star hotels, so it is nice to get back to the simple pleasures of a quiet (and large) room with a nice view. Each room has its own balcony with views across the resort property. On this stay we stayed in a room with a peak of Lake Michigan from its balcony.
This is a great hotel for families. The kids are safe anywhere on this property, and typically within view. The pool is situated on a beautiful yard, not in a concrete jungle like so many big resorts. You feel like you are at someone's home.
You can walk to Lake Michigan (Little Traverse Bay) in 2 minutes, or you can head to downtown Harbor Springs with a 10-15 minute walk, or a quick 5 minute bike ride. We always bring our bikes, and the car stays parked the whole time we are in Harbor Springs.
The rooms have all been updated over the last couple of years. Don't expect fancy marble baths, but expect a nice spacious room. The rooms are all of nice size and some even have an extra bedroom, which is great for families. Every room we have stayed in has a fireplace and hardwood floors. They also have a mini fridge.
They have a nice breakfast (typical waffle maker, cereal stuff) in the old dining room of the resort.
