Hotel Castelgandolfo

10/10 Excellent

"We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment with rooftop terrace. We loved it! What an amazing view. The one bedroom was smaller, but we used it as the master because of the balcony and lake view. The other bedroom was a bit bigger. No complaints though. It made for a great family trip. And the breakfast included was perfect. And those views from the restaurant were fabulous. Would recommend."

"The first room was not acceptable due to a strange musty smell but our host was able to put us up in two different rooms and not only have partial refund, but paid for our breakfast, parking and helped with luggage. Very clean rooms with nice amenities. Don’t book the Honeymoon loft with two rooms! He’s is working on the smell issue there but it’s an old building and may take some time. The Suite with a king and twin in the same room has a gorgeous loft patio on the lake and the Romeo and Juliet suit in town was nice too."

"Good people are the best asset in any place, and Cape House is blessed with amazing people. The cleaning staff are friendly and maintain the highest standard of cleanliness. And Fabio takes great care to ensure that guests are comfortable and well looked after. He found me a quiet place to work away from the noise of some renovations that were in progress a couple of days, and kindly gifted a bottle of wine to compensate for any inconvenience that the work may have caused. The place itself is also lovely. Located close to a couple of lakes and the pope’s summer residence. Also a short drive or train ride into Rome. Yet far enough out of the city to hear birds rather than constant traffic. And very quiet during the night. The kitchen is well equipped for the simple meals one makes when away from home. And the mattress and furniture are comfortable. I enjoyed a week at Cape House and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone travelling in the area."

"I stayed here for a month. It was perfect. The bed was comfortable and I had everything I needed. It was very private and quiet and the terrace was lovely- sunset views every night. Everything was clean and the location is very convenient to the center of the town. I was very comfortable here. "

"We had an amazing stay at the house. Its a great, very relaxing location in the foot hills, with a cute town close by and other activities. The town is not really walkable given the roads. We enjoyed the house, cooked on the outdoor grill twice (was a great experience), and used the pool daily. "

"Communication with the host was challenging, as he messaged us in Italian despite knowing we didn’t speak the language. We tried using a translator app, but it was difficult to understand instructions. He expected to meet us in front of the apartment, which was hard to locate using the directions provided—they led us to a narrow, one-way alley.The host saw us but continued to give directions only in Italian. We were unsure where to park and were eventually directed to a paid lot that was not close to the apartment. After parking, we had to follow him through a parking garage and back down the alley to reach the entrance. The apartment is accessed via two steep, uneven flights of concrete steps, which felt unsafe—especially with luggage.Once inside, the host gave very basic instructions in Italian before leaving. It was quite difficult to navigate back to the car and bring all of our belongings to the apartment.The apartment itself is nicely decorated, but the air conditioning is only in the kitchen—not in the bedroom or bathroom. We also found the wine glasses to be dirty upon arrival. The garden is charming, though the lake view is partially obstructed by a chain-link fence. Noise from the apartment above (footsteps and water running) was constant and disruptive.Unfortunately, due to these issues, we would not choose to stay here again."
