The George Street Hotel offered affordable accommodation in the heart of Oxford. You can walk to anything and there are lots of restaurants in the area. It was a short walk to the bus station for transport to London or the airports. Yes the rooms are small and yes you can hear some street noise but to me that’s expected in a character hotel in the middle of a busy city. Would definitely stay here again.

Service was great and the room was clean and very comfortable. We were originally checked into a room that was already occupied, but the staff quickly fixed the mistake and switched us to another room.

The George Street Hotel has extremely well appointed and clean rooms, but we were disappointed that our Deluxe Double room was so tiny and cramped. My husband, who is tall but not large, had trouble negotiating in the tiny en-suite bathroom. The Window shade was broken, unable to be raised, when we arrived. This was fixed the second day of our 2 night stay. The location is perfect for getting your bearings in Oxford, and the staff were all friendly. As this was our first visit to Oxford, I can’t compare it to other accommodations.

This is a great hotel option right in the heart of Oxford. The street around it is a bit busy and slightly grimy, but once you step into the downstairs entrance to the hotel you feel safe, comfortable, and everything was fresh and tidy. Our room was on the backside so we had no street noise issues. The room exceeded my expectations for the cost in its charm and features. This is a great option for a midrange priced hotel! I would definitely stay here again.

Not soundproofed. Noisy music played in pub close by could be heard until late. Could hear people clearly in corridor and banging on doors at 4am. No 5* amenities by any stretch. Reception welcome was poor. Loud zoom meeting taking place by the hotel staff when trying to check in. Strange stains on headboard mirror. At best a 3* hotel.

Poor accommodation
Although the e enjoyed central location this was as very poor hotel. Room were tiny and outdated - in need of refurb. Staff were friendly but not prompt or efficient with service - I was waiting 15 mins for even an an only I was waiting to check in as the only member of staff was on the phone. Room temperature could not be controlled in room and it was too warm.

We had a wonderful time in Oxford staying at George Street Hotel. The staff were so friendly and helpful. They did an amazing job caring for us as we arrived early from the USA. The room was excellent, a great location in Oxford. But we will always remember the incredible staff!!!

Misrepresents itself as luxury but its basic
The first thing to understand is that it's NOT the luxury experience it presents itself as. They tried to put us in a lower ground floor room (which I wasn't even aware was possible), so I had to pay for an 'upgrade', which made it the same price as the Randolf down the street, which IS a luxury experience. The staff were friendly, and the room was fine. Just miffed at the misrepresentation. I will only stay again if there are no other options.

Lovely!
Loved this hotel! The location was unbeatable and the staff were so accommodating and kind. We had the top floor suite with balcony and it was lovely. Highly recommend!

Welcoming hotel in a great spot
We booked 2 nights but separately (the extra night was a nice surprise treat when when childcare plans changed). This meant we needed to check out after our first night and swap rooms. Not a problem for us - staff were very helpful & stored our luggage whilst we went out for the day. On coming back to check in again we found that the lovely staff had placed our bags in our new room ready for us which was a nice surprise! 1st room had a window & was on the 1st floor. Bit of noise from the pub which we expected but it ended fairly early and we still slept well. 2nd room had no window & I actually preferred this. Very cosy and snug. Beds & pillows are very comfortable, bathroom was spotless and the shower had good pressure & easy to control temperature. The hotel was directly opposite the theatre we came to Oxford for and so close to many restaurants, pubs & museums. It really is ideally placed if you like to be in the thick of things like we do.

Overpriced for what the hotel had to offer - i.e. no bar/ restaurant/ room service. The hotel could do with some new windows too as the drafts and noise from outside was ridiculous. Appreciate it's a central location but single glazing didn't really help.

I had a really lovely stay at the George Street Hotel. Staff were so helpful, my Deluxe Double room was beautiful, well equipped and spotlessly clean - and so quiet considering the hotel is right in the heart of Oxford. I would thoroughly recommend staying here if you are visiting Oxford by train and wish to be convenient for the Colleges, shopping and nightlife.

This hotel was selected for proximity to the theatre, which was just over the road. I had one of the rooms which did not have a window but in winter this is not an issue. The room was very comfortable and quiet so do not be put off by the lack of a window. The staff made me feel very welcome. M Nickless

Ok, central, friendly but definitely not 5 star!
Hotel was fine. It’s very dated and the entrance is a bit shabby (next to a closed down shop) with plastic flowers. Room was fine. Very dated. But mattress was comfortable, could have done with better pillows. Staff were very friendly and air con worked. Easy to walk everywhere as you are right in the Centre of Oxford. No communal areas to relax, we were staying in a large group and just had to wait by reception desk to meet up to go out. Had to go out as no food, no bar and no room service. Had to go out for breakfast. My sister had a room without a window which also seems odd for a 5 star hotel? The view from our room was also definitely not 5 star!! It was fine and we laughed about it. Wifi worked fine. Was definitely overpriced.
