Couldn't have been better!
We were very happy with Fort Awesome. The home was so comfortable in every way: living areas, beds, the deck with 4 great Adirondack chairs and hot tub. The family room looked like an afterthought in the pictures, but was actually very cozy and enjoyable after dark when your views were gone. During the day, my husband and two adult sons enjoyed hanging out in the kitchen, sitting in the living room, or chilling on the back deck looking out at the incredible views of the lighthouse, cliffs, ocean, and sunsets. We are from Georgia, and we love our air conditioning, and this A/C worked great! The location is perfect! It's close to Depoe Bay, several great viewing spots, Otter Rock and Devil's Punchbowl, the Yaquina Lighthouse Park, Newport Harbor, Nye Beach, great restaurants, and Seal Rock. The trail to the beach was a fun adventure, tight and steep, but worth the walk on the beach. This visit was everything I'd hoped it would be. I hope we get to return!

Had a ant problem on counters. Might need house sprayed. Also sheets had a stain on them in big king bed and the blankets in childrens room smelled of pee when we went to use them.

Beautifully remodeled coastal home
Very nicely remodeled home right on the bluffs above Agate Beach. The home has a well stocked kitchen for cooking Thanksgiving meal. The views were stunning - especially from the hot tub. A wonderful place for a family gathering. The owner was very responsive with the few questions that we had during our stay.

Lifelong friends
We are a group of friends since grade school, now in our 70’s. The house was beautiful and everything promised. The view from the deck was amazing and you could see the lighthouse. We highly recommend this home.

This is a wonderful property with spectacular views off the deck - the ocean, the lighthouse, and even whales! The beds and furniture were comfortable with lots of space in the home. The kitchen had everything you could need. The location is convenient to (driving) beach access, restaurants and stores. Highly recommend!

The owners call the property Fort Awesome. The view sitting above the ocean and close to a scenic lighthouse on a rocky point is breathtaking. House is clean, modern, functional and well equipped. Kitchen well stocked for cooking. Two living spaces. Great bedroom and bathrooms. Very pleased with our choice!

Spring Break 2023
Beautiful property, stunning views. Even when the weather was stormy, this was a wonderful place to spend a long weekend with family. Hikes to the beach, card and board games, movie nights and watching and listening to the ocean kept us busy each day. We could either watch for whales from the cottage or head 10 miles up Highway 101 to Depoe Bay and watch while eating a burger and drinking a brew. The beds were comfortable and everything worked just great in the house. We had a great stay. Thank you.

DO NOT RENT THIS HOUSE!
This house has gorgeous views. But this host doesn't deserve your business. Resolving our dispute over a damaged chair at this house has been a drawn out, expensive nightmare! We had an accident with a single chair. We owe the damage deposit amount, yes. Any reasonable person would agree to that. But this host tried to get me to pay for a brand new set of 2 chairs. Even though we only damaged one that was worn out after a decade of use! Communication was terrible. I ask numbered questions and she responds without direct answers. Instead, she explained how much brand new chairs cost and what it means to have features on a chair and continued to argue for me to pay for a new set of 2. I know a swiveling recliner is more expensive than a chair without added features--I'm not an idiot. I'm angry she's trying to distract me from the key issue here. I should only be responsible for the value of the damaged chair at the time of the damage. It's unjust she expected me to pay full price for new chair and a 2nd completely undamaged chair! VRBO cant stop her from charging me, apparently. Luckily, involving the VRBO support did result in the host changing her request down to the value of just one new chair. And that is more reasonable but still robbery. Tl;Dr: Stay with this host at your own risk. She has a history of requesting unjust things, taking advantage of you for her own gain. 0/10. Do not recommend.

A leather swivel rocking chair (one of a matching pair) was ruined with bleach and bright red hair dye. The guest didn’t inform us, we found it during the post-stay clean. The guest was asked to pay less than half the replacement cost for one chair. She eventually paid the damage fee requested, which again was less than half the price of one chair. The guest was never asked to pay the full price of a new chair, nor was she asked to pay for two chairs. (The chair is 5 years old, per the receipt.) Original purchase receipts were shared with VRBO and the guest. All correspondence is documented with VRBO.

Amazing Property
"Ft. Awesome" is aptly named, as this was one of our favorite vacation rentals of all time, anywhere. From the incredible view, convenient location, and nice touches / upgrades throughout the home, this place has it all. Our family of five adults was very comfortable and we would visit again without hesitation.

Our family rented Fort Awesome for four nights and everything about the property was exactly as advertised. The property manager, Bridgett, was easy to communicate with and check-in was a snap. We watched whales from the deck one full afternoon and cooked s’mores that evening over the fire pit. We will definitely return.

4 Sisters Reunion
The home lived up to its name of Fort Fantastic. It was a comfortable home for four days. Many local stores and shops met our needs. The Bluehairon, provided a spa like pedicure. A treat for us all after 3 days of shopping. A short trip to Depoe Bay was more shopping and a glimpse of a whales tale. We dined at Tidal Rages for lunch and it became the one meal we raved about for days. Bridgett Frances was wonderful and responsive to our questions. I would recommend anyone looking for a comfortable, well appointed home, with a fantastic view to consider this rental as a prime choice.

Most spectacular VRBO stay ever!
Our extended family has stayed in VRBOs many times over the years, but this was definitely the BEST! The home was beautiful, the location very quiet -- except for the ocean, which is what we wanted to hear! We were celebrating an important family birthday and it was only hubby & I and adult children, so we didn't do our usual amount of cooking (just breakfast) -- but the kitchen was so well-equipped that when we make a return visit (hopefully!), we'll know we can make elaborate meals. The beds were comfy, as were the living spaces. Wonderful master bath shower! We spent lots of time drifting in and out to the beautiful deck overlooking the Pacific. The hot tub on the deck was also fabulous. And we do plan to return some day! Thank you so much!

Amazing Beach House
Fort Awesome was so amazing! The house is gorgeous! Updated coastal home with everything you could need! Our girls loved the adorable bunk beds! The master bed was very comfortable! The views are spectacular! Loved seeing the lighthouse at all times of the day! The hot tub was a nice addition on those cool nights and mornings! Found a little hidden path to Starfish Cove and it felt like our own private beach! The trek down and up is a little adventure but also a fun experience! We are at many different restaurants and they were all delicious! Mo’s and Georgie’s were our favorites in Newport and Tidal Raves in Depot Bay. Went and bought fresh crab from the port and Fort Awesome had everything we needed to cook up a fresh seafood meal! The only thing I wish we had known is if you want to have a fire in the fireplace you need to bring your own dura logs and we couldn’t figure out how to turn on the fireplace in the master. Nothing really dries in this climate so the towels smell a little musty but overall I would still give it a 5+ review! We will definitely be back!

Property was even better than expected. Incredible views. Close to all the things. Clean and comfortable place. Two families, seven total people, and it never felt crowded. We all enjoyed our stay very much. Highlight was the walk down to the beach to Starfish Cove at low tide in the mornings.

Optimal design to accommodate all age groups. Our group included 2 seniors, 1 super senior - (ADA accommodations needed) and 4 children ages 6-14. Beautiful ocean view from most windows. Telescope for star gazing. Sleeping accommodations were very comfortable with TVs in 2 bedrooms as well as one in great room and one in family room (DVD player too). Comfy sofas and easy chairs. Ping pong, barbecue, fire pit, hot tub, high end appliances and family friendly eating area. Easy care flooring. Laundry facilities. Sand castle “equipment” and even small surf board available. Beach trail within walking distance. Agate Beach. Out of Tsunami zone:) Nearby commercial. Five star plus without hesitation.

The sliding doors and kitchen cabinet handles Should have been wiped down , but they are clean now and lots of Sand in the runner of sliding glass door. the trash can was next to the front door and was overflowing….
