It wa clean and the young guy on reception was great. It had a lot of road noise and a very uncomfortable bed with awful sheets that almost felt like plastic
Great access to a lovely walkway for running in the morning. HUGE paknsave nearby and easy to get to. Good location, and despite being near a main road was really quiet from road noise.
Good accommodation for the three of us. Great to have our own kitchen facilities. The owner replaced two of the lights in the unit that were flickering, and one that was not working. He did this immediately which was pleasing.
Terrible old beds! Caused severe back pain in mornings. Pool was great! Host was excellent... but couldn’t get passed the horrible beds
bad sleep

Pity you did not tell us. We have been busy buying new beds for the rooms and are half way around. We would like to target the rooms most in need first
6/10 Okay

Quick, easy and affordable.
I needed a quick cost effective place to stay on my travels from Wellington to Auckland as I had purchased a bike in Wellington and did not want to ride over night. The Fern Hotel provided just what was needed and were located perfectly.
This motel is clean and convenient. The hosts are very welcoming. The bed was a bit soft for our preference. Air conditioning is a big plus, and the small patio outside is excellent for breakfast, snacking, or a light meal
Overnight stay during the week, very comfortable, clean, good dark curtains so no waking with daylight, on a busy road, but absolutely noise free, and completely surrounded by fences. Very friendly, helpful owners, would recommend.
Affordable but noisy and wifi is intermittent. Swimming pool is not heated and rooms are not really tidy.

We are a bit small to afford heated swimming pools. I did price it but it was over $10k, so we opted with the heated pool cover to extend the Summer.
WIFI can get hammered when the motel is full or at peak times, but we are on VDSL and have two boosters around the units:)
We were led to believe by Wotif that we would have a 4 star room, this room would barely make 3 stars. The room was extremely small.
Bathroom quite inadequate. There were no rails to hang towels. A very narrow shelf for our toileteries.
The shower was only cleaned once and that was on the first day of our 5 day stay.
The kitchen drawers were not clean.
The ventilation was poor.
Traffic noise was diabolical
Very little room for our suitcases
Room was clean, proprietor was friendly, price was good. However, lots of road noise, in need of renovating and Wifi was not worth connecting to. We did have a unit backing onto the road, a long way from office. To scared to use the oven! It was from another era!

LOL yes the basic rooms are basic and dated but priced accordingly. For a little extra the deluxe rooms were all renovated with brand new appliances.
We try and please every budget.
Ok accomodation, very friendly staff, close to shops, Internet connection not too great though, booked a room with queen and single but only had queen, but would stay there again
The room was great and easy to access inside the room with the wheelchair.
Access to the room from the car was a problem because the parking area was infront of the Motel room entrance . We had to Unload then park the car etc.
We would stay again as the room was very good.
Our group of 6 (3 adults & 3 children) enjoyed our stay at Fern Motel. Steve let us checked in early and even upgraded our family room size to deluxe for free. That was very nice of him and his wife. We stayed for 1 night and we experienced it all-the outdoor pool, kids play area, and cooked breakfast. Recommend it to all on a budget. The only downfall was the slow wifi but that didn't bothered us much. Ended up using our data. Overall, thank you to Steve and his wife for hosting us. When in Napier/Hastings, definitely book with Fern Motel. Xx
We only stayed 1 night but were pleasantly surprised after friends had stayed there a year ago and were disappointed. We had a great experience. Greeted by warm and friendly staff who were able to answer all our questions about the area. Great pool and playground for kids and close to get around Napier. Great value for money.

Thank you and we are glad you enjoyed your experience staying at Fern
Steve, Carolyn, and their family are terrific. They took great care of us and gave us personalized attention that really made our stay enjoyable. The kids play area, the pool, and all of the other amenities are fantastic. The hotel is older and they are doing a fantastic job of keeping up with the maintenance. Very clean and pleasant place to stay.

Thank you, we are very glad you enjoyed your stay and look forward to seeing you again in the future
We had a really nice stay at Fern Motel. Our friendly hosts had only just taken over from the previous owners and were finding their feet with ease. Accommodation and facilities left nothing to be desired for, so they get a big thumbs up from us.
The only downside is the noisy road running behind the motel but that's nothing a pair of ear plugs won't solve! :)
