My boyfriend and I stayed for one night whilst visiting the national park on our travels. We payed a little extra for a view of the lake, it was gorgeous! The hotel is stunning, we were very suprised that the is only a 3*, should be at least a 4*. It is only a 5-10 minutes walk to the national park entrance.
I would definately recommend this to anyone, i would stay here again!
(August, 2013) Rooms Karla (RK) is in a good location - a very short walk outside the rather overpriced, slightly grubby Yachtie-dominated settlement of Podace, and within the National Park. The stone jetty on the waterfront of the RK is clean and a nice place to laze or swim from, with an excellent outlook on the upper part of the bay. The rooms in the main buildings close to the water are probably excellent, unless a thumping drunken party boat moors close-by for the night. The under-construction building further away on the other side of the road, has some good rooms at the front (slightly marred by an ill-placed sodium street lamp) but less well-placed ones at the back. The little kitchen is well-equipped and a better alternative than the over-priced, naively exploitative restaurants in town - the tired fruit and vegetables in the local supermarkets notwithstanding. However, the Mljet National Park is a joy to be in, and RC is a wonderfully located base from which to walk/run/bike/swim ... so, all-in-all, the RC, under the management of Andro and Ane Stražičić, and their 4 daughters is strongly recommended (it is named after Karla, the youngest), especially if you can book the main building rooms or the ones at the front of the building up on the other side of the road. When and if this rear building is finished, RK will be even better. I did not see anywhere else in Podace I would rather be.
