"Felt like a VIP"
We stayed a week with this hotel and I can honestly say that I felt like a VIP while was there. The managers and staff were more than accommodating, and the room was exquisite. From check in to check out, Archer made every attempt to make sure our stay was amazing! My two favorite things about my stay was being greeted warmly by every staff member upon arrival or departure, and the turn down service with a delectable dessert left for our enjoyment. If I come back to NYC, I know exactly where I want to stay!

"Room cancelled without warning"
Arrived at NYC at 11pm as a family with 2 children to be told our room had been cancelled. We did not have the option to pay in advance, although hotel was booked back in November. We arrived to be told that our credit card had been declined so our room reallocated. When the same credit card was re-tried it was accepted... however 11pm (or 4am UK time!) and no room available. The hotel rang round and got us a hotel one street away, but with 2 adults and 2 teenagers we were only given 3 single beds. So we paid $250 for husband to sleep on the floor! Rebooked into NYMA the next day with the same credit card that had been declined (puzzling... had the hotel overbooked, I wonder?). Were not given any discount or apology ("Check with your credit card company ma'am... not our problem."), just an extra camp bed at no charge. Hotel was great, when we eventually got a room. Clean, well located, good breakfast, free coffee, hot chocolate etc in the lobby. Would recommend the hotel but not the booking experience. Why not take money upon booking so your room is guaranteed? Also remember taxes are added so you pay another approx $40 a night on top of the price quoted in tax.

"Good location"
You're paying for location, and the staff is a lovely bonus. It is small, as all the older hotels in New York are, with one slow elevator. The only real negative is the breakfast - there is not enough room for everyone, so you could end up waiting a long time to even go in. I would stay there again, but I would assume I would need to eat elsewhere.

In the Garment District, designers try to stay a cut above fashion's latest trends. Nearby, Hell's Kitchen is hot thanks to Restaurant Row. In one block on West 46th, diners can dash from Bangkok to Brazil.
