A tired hotel - poor value for money

Posted 26/07/2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Refurbish to bring it up to the standard of other hotels in the aea.
Very good location near theaters. Worn and dreary furnishings and general tired look to paint. Basic dining area, but breakfast was very good

Great hotel, very accommodating

Had trouble the first night with our room being right next to the lift very noisy, so the friendly staff upgraded us to a family room which was tucked away and nice and quiet, great hotel, great staff and amazing buffet breakfast

Great Place if you're planning on not being there.

Posted 22/07/2014
The room is tiny, run down yet clean & presentable. The location was fantastic. Walking distance to shops, restaurants, the theatre & china town. We were in melb to do stuff so didn't spend a lot of time in the room, so the size didn't affect us too much. The bed was very uncomfortable, with one side clearly slanting lower than the other (springs worn or gone) & walls very thin. I wear ear plugs but my husband was woken many times from banging & noises coming from the hallway & other rooms.

Close to everything

Posted 20/07/2014
Pros: Location is great. Can walk to everything
Cons: The rooms are very small and the bathroom could use more shelving for guest belongings.
Location: Not far from Flinders station and Swanston street where most of the trams run from.
Hotel is right in the city so close to everything, by tram or walking. The room was quite small for a Queen size and the bathroom could use a few shelves to put personal belongings on, as is also very small. The lifts were also slow due to works being carried out at the hotel. But otherwise the staff were friendly and the breakfast and dinner/restaurant was good.

Dear Lynda, Thank you for your feedback. I'm pleased that you enjoyed our fantastic location & delighted that you find our team member to be friendly and you had the opportunity to enjoy the meals at our restaurant. I apologize for the inconvenience caused by the slowness of our lifts. you experienced noise from the garbage trucks early in the morning. Hopefully we can look forward to seeing you back on your next visit to Melbourne. Kind regards, Alex Mihardja, Operational Project Manager

Centrally located, close to shops and trams.

Pros: Location. Really nice shampoo.
Cons: Microwaves in hotel rooms would be nice.
Location: Trams on Swanston Street. Walking distance to Fed Square, theatres, Postal Lane restaurant, Bourke St Mall, Chinatown, cheap food outlets.
Friendly staff, nice modern bathrooms, excellent shower. Trams on doorstep. Easy access to to all of Melbournes tourist sites. Easy to get to Etihad by tram.

Not fancy, but clean and comfortable.

Posted 19/07/2014
Location: The location is great! Close to Bourke St Mall, Swantson St, close to public transport. Great location!
Not fancy, but clean and comfortable. The room was simple, and not necessarily latest fashion in hotel d├ęcor. However it was clean, comfortable and had all the amenities we required. The location is fantastic! If you're looking for a reasonable hotel that is clean and comfortable, would definitely recommend. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Pros: Very centrally located; easy access to all the delights of Melbourne.
Cons: Shower was noisy!
Location: Centre of town! Close to shops, restaurants, theatre and public transport.
We had a great time during our short stay. Because our hotel was in the centre of town, we could easily come and go from nearby places.

Mercure Welcome Melbourne

Posted 17/07/2014
Pros: Location, cleanness, convenience.
Cons: Hard scrambled eggs at Breakfast, and no pastries, and no soy milk.
Location: Great shopping location. Also good for eating out especially Chinese and Vietnamese. Handy for theatres and public transport.
Great location right close to David Jones and Myer Melbourne, China Town also close for great meals. Close to trams also. Quiet, well appointed but small room. Very clean bathroom. Friendly efficient reception staff. Breakfast fairly ordinary.
