Good location close to Chinatown

Posted 01/03/2015
Pros: There is a laundry room on the 8th floor with two self service washing machines and a tumble drier which are very handy.
Cons: The air conditioning was quite noisy. There were cotton buds and other debris under the beds which had clearly not been hoovered for some time.
Location: The hotel is situated very close to Chinatown and it was very busy during our stay due to the Chinese New Year celebrations.
We stayed in a twin bedded room on the 8th floor. The shower room was very modern and clean and looked newly refurbished but in comparison the room looked tired. However the beds were very comfortable with nice firm pillows. The room was quite dark as there was a building very close. The housekeeping service was very efficient and towels were automatically replaced daily. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.

Found the rooms very sub par and extremely cramped. Not worth the money even with the location

Great location

Posted 17/02/2015
Pros: Beds were firm and comfortable, as were the pillows. Air conditioning was good.
Cons: Doors banged on closing. Bathroom basin's enamel was cracked, water leaked from taps. Some marked walls: needs cleaning. Prev.stays in better rooms.
Location: The Mall and Chinatown are nearby. Melbourne Central Train Station and The Shot Tower museum are handy. A lot of great dining areas are in the area.
The hotel is near the Bourke Street Mall. The location is perfect, being in the heart of Melbourne and with free tram travel in central city area. The staff were very helpful and the available dining areas in the hotel offer a good choice.

It's a basic but nice hotel

Posted 11/02/2015
We stayed here during February for two nights and we had a great time here in Melbourne and at the hotel, we arrived before the check in time of 14:00 due to us flying in the morning but this was not a problem a room was ready for us and we checked in with no problems. Room was basic which we expected as you pay for what you get and as we have stayed at other mecure hotels we knew what we where getting. Other than that there's not a lot I can say, the rooms are cleaned daily, hotel was tidy and presentable, staff friendly and helpful and always arround to ask for help. Central area was a must for us and with that comes city noise but happy to say it was so quite. Overal we had a great time and would stay here again. Thanks

Small window and little natural light.

Posted 09/02/2015
Pros: Loved the very central location. Trams outside the front door. Easy access by tram to Spencer St station for Skybus to and from airport.
Location: Around the corner from the main shopping precinct in Bourke Street.
The room was perfectly adequate for our needs especially as we were only in it morning and night. However, I was disappointed in the very small window looking out to a dark space between buildings which meant that natural light was minimal. The bathroom was fine and had all I needed but again was on the small side. The room itself was spacious enough and the standard of cleanliness was excellent. Because the room faced inwards to a courtyard, it was very quiet.

Basic hotel, good location

Posted 08/02/2015
Pros: Useful location
Cons: The front desk girl was very sweet, but it took her about 10min to find out if I could change my payment method. Needs training.
Completely adequate hotel. If you get a cheap rate (<$100/night) and want to be in this area of the city, then it's totally fine. Nothing flashy. Note that you might have to pay for the gym!

awful, avoid

Posted 08/02/2015
Horrible from the get-go, walls are scruffy, carpet is stained and dirty, window looks at a concrete wall, carpet outside the bathroom smells of mold, and the 'king size' bed is two singles pushed together. A horrible hotel to avoid at all costs.

Ideal Inner City Location

Posted 06/02/2015
Fantastic, central location. Tram stop is directly outside hotel. Hotel staff are friendly and helpful. Room was furnished with older furniture and furnishings. My bed mattress was worn on a slant, probably from being butted up against a wall so my back was achey upon waking. The linen however, and the bathroom, were very clean. Overall it was a great place to stay.

Pros: we enjoyed the affordability considering its location
Cons: we struggled with the lumpiness of the mattress but it was easily seen past
Close to all Melbourne attractions and like all good things in Melbourne, the entrance we always used is tucked away in a laneway.....this hotel is perfect for what we wanted it for, somewhere to put our stuff and sleep at night....the rest of the time spent enjoying such a liveable city
