A true hideaway on Payette Lake
The Huckleberry Hideaway is a great small cabin in a wonderful spot on Payette Lake. It is definitely small, but well laid out with a nice living area, dining table and cooking area. This would not be good for anyone with mobility issues, but works well if you can navigate the tight spaces - especially upstairs. We were a family of four and it was a good size for us - it was wonderful to have the small bungalow bedroom as a place for one of our boys to have his own space. The only real challenge we had was the lack of laundry facilities - this would be fine for a few days or a week but anything longer requires a trip to the laundromat which can be a pain. Overall though the beach is very nice and the neighborhood is sweet. A great place for a getaway or a short family vacation.

The Huckleberry Hideaway- Small but Mighty!
While the Huckleberry Hideaway may be small in size it is large in every other way- experience, location, amenities, and comfort! It is in a great location with easy access to a wonderful beach. The downstairs indoor space is amazingly spacious and comfortable. This along with the outdoor areas ( a front porch and large back patio) accommodated our family quite nicely. It was quiet and peaceful with many deer roaming the neighborhood. We are a tall family, so the upstairs bedrooms were a little tight while maneuvering into bed, but the beds were comfortable and the ceiling fans and windows kept it cool even during this heatwave. Jeff, our host, was super responsive with all of our questions. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks for a great week in McCall!

We had a very nice stay at this property, in spite of bad weather almost the entire time we were there. We had a total of 4 people. Two staying in the main house and 2 in the bunkhouse. The owner did not miss any tricks in having the property well equipped and perfect use of all the space available. Everything was in order and clean. It was close in to McCall and various restaurants, shops, etc. We definitely would stay ther again.

Awesome Cabin! Our kids had a blast and we have so many amazing memories from this vacation. The cabin was clean and cozy, and the lake was so close we went kayaking and had a beach picnic everyday! The few neighbors were extremely friendly. Only a couple of very small issues came up during our stay, and Jeff responded to my calls quickly and resolved our issues immediately. What an amazing first experience for our family in McCall. We will be back!!

The description of how close the lake is a little misleading it’s more like a 4-5 min walk. I didn’t take any stars off because they do provide 2 nice kayaks. No room to hang or unpack your things or place to put. Suitcase.

Lovely Petite Cabin
A lot of care and thought has been put into this lovely little cabin. It's outfitted very well, had very comfortable beds, and enough hot water for a family of 4. I love the little swing chair and picnic table for meals on the back deck. We loved the beach and the kayaks, and all of the neighbors were incredibly friendly! What a charming little cabin! Thank you for a wonderful long weekend in McCall!

Cozy spot with easy access to the best of McCall
Very well appointed cabin that made the most of the limited space. Our group of 5 (2 couples and an older teen) made use of the both main cabin and the bunkhouse. We found the sleeping arrangements to be quiet and comfortable. We enjoyed the proximity to the beach, use of the kayaks, and grilling on the deck. The cabin was super clean and all amenities were in excellent condition.

Quaint A-frame near lake
A-frame is exactly as described. Great use of space; however, taller people might have some challenges. Location is wonderful! A 3-4 minute walk to sandy beach where two kayaks are available for use. A friend and I wanted a quick weekend getaway to hike. The area has several nearby hiking trails (short driving distance) & the cabin location was nice to take eve/morning walks. Plenty of kitchen accessories.

Cozy but hot
Nice little cabin and cozy, not a lot of air flow made it quite warm and didn’t find the fan until the last night. Water stopped working on the last day so no showers unfortunately. Communication with property manager was fine although I am used to getting check in info prior to the day of arrival which seemed odd. Overall average experience

Hi Scott. Communication is key in renting. We pride ourselves in making every effort to make sure all of our guests have a great time. Admittedly it has been a more than unusually hot summer but the many fans, screen doors and windows we have upstairs and downstairs in the cabin more than allow it to be cooled in the very cool 50-60 degree McCall evenings. In the case of the water, the well circuit breaker simply tripped and could have been reset in mere seconds. We ended up driving up to do it ourselves since you had already left before letting us know. As far as access instructions go, we can only provide the remote access key code day of arrival.

Quaint and comfortable
The cabin was set up really well for how tiny it is. We didn’t plan to spend a whole lot of time indoors, so it was perfect for what we needed. The use of the kayaks was super fun for us and our two little kids. We drove about 10 minutes up the road to the Payette river and kayaked the river. It was beautiful and relaxing. Beware of the 25mph speed limit everywhere! My Father’s Place has amazing burgers and milkshakes.

Winter stay in McCall Cabin
My girlfriend and I had an amazing time during our stay at this quaint cabin! It was a great place to come back to after a day of skiing at Brundage or snowshoeing at Ponderosa State Park. The neighborhood was it's own winter wonderland with more snow and much less traffic than in town. Wifi was fast enough to use for working from home and video streaming. Highly recommend for anyone looking to get a true McCall experience.

Christmas 2020
Our stay in McCall was amazing. The cabin was perfect. The gas fireplace made it so easy to keep the cabin comfortable. The Netflix was great in the evenings. We skied Brundage. We explored the little roads around the cabin. Being able to back out truck near the front door made unloading and loading so easy. We didn't use it, but the little Chalet next door would have been great had we had a bigger group. Highly recommend this cabin for a family getaway. Everything worked perfectly. We felt lucky to be able to call the Huckleberry Hideaway home for Christmas 2020. Thank you, The Silers

Jeff was easily accessible by phone with any questions I had. He was prompt to respond, and very kind. The cabins were immaculately clean and had all the little things that we accidentally forgot (shampoo, spatula, etc). The cabins were also gorgeous! It had a beautiful private beach where you can have a bonfire. We saw a few deer right down the road. Definitely intend on returning! :)

Perfect cozy weekend
The property was perfect for our family. The cabin is super clean and the beds are comfortable. It is a short little walk to a lovely sandy beach. I would warn you though that if anyone in your party is super tall or large this cabin might be difficult to navigate through. The staircase and bedrooms are VERY tight. But if you're an average sized person it's not a big deal. We definitely would stay again!

Love the Huckleberry Hideaway!
I’m so glad we found this place for our week in McCall. We had 4 adults and a 4 year old and it was just right for our group. The beach is awesome, the fishing is great, the proximity to town is perfect and we really enjoyed the community of neighbors, too. Everything in the cabin was clean and cute. If you’re staying for more than a weekend, you may want to save the upstairs twin beds for kiddos - they’re a bit small and pretty hard. But we didn’t have any issue with the staircase like others mentioned and really enjoyed the space. We would definitely rent this one again.

So Cute!
This is such a delightful property. I mean, what's not to like about a triangle house that has its own cottage? It is definitely a small space, but it served the two of us well. I think it would be fine for a family with kiddos, but I don't know about trying to fit more than a couple of adults. The only thing I wish this place had is a washing machine as we were hiking every day and would've liked to wash our dusty/sweaty clothes. But, it's not a big deal if you're staying less than a week.

Perfect place to get away
I’d used VRBO before and found great places to visit. This time was no different. My family experience at Huckleberry Hideaway was amazing. The location is great, minutes to McCall Idaho where you can experience a resort town with a small main street. There is an Albertsons in town, and as you drive into McCall from Boise, there is a Riley’s were you can buy everything from food, beer, sporting and fishing equipment. The cabin is a short walk to the private beach. It was no trouble to bring our own water toys; the owners also have two sea kayaks available for use. Inside there is a dishwasher, full refrigerator, and tons of pots, pans, and glasses, even plastic to take to the beach. Fishing was great, we tried our luck in the water with our canoe, but our twin, teenage boys caught 6 rainbow trout from the docks. The little cabin was a bonus for our boys to share, they loved having their own space. Our trip was only 5 days, we wished we could have spent more time. Helpful tip use the back stairs to carry luggage to the upper bedrooms.

Huckleberry Awesome!
The Huckleberry Hideaway was a wonderful getaway for me and my family. Though McCall has certainly grown a lot in the past few years, it's still very accessible and friendly. But the real treat for me was the Roth's place itself. Everything is very tidy, clean and comfortable. When we hit the afternoon doldrums we'd hang out and watch a little Netflix or play one of the many games they have available (and if we'd stayed longer, I might have dived into their library too, which was pretty extensive!). The boys had a great time in their own "mini cabin" right next door. Which also worked well for us parents. And when everyone woke up, it was a short, easy walk to the lake. There was always plenty of room on their sandy beach--and we used the Roth Kayaks every day!--though one day we went over to Mile-High Marina and rented a jet ski, which was also a lot of fun. One extra thing. My daughter left her "blankie" bunched up in a pillow (which is how we missed it). The Roths were great about finding it and shipping it back--which not only made my daughter very very happy, but relieved a lot of parental pressure :-). The Roth's kindness and help was above the call of duty, and it is very much appreciated. This is the kind of caring, attentive people you'll be renting from. You'll be in good hands---and you're going to have a great time! Enjoy! --The Terry Family

Great Family Time
The six of us had a great time! The house and bunkhouse were perfectly cozy, but not too small for two adults and four teenage boys. The location to town and the private beach area was absolutely perfect. If there is any way to better the air circulation in the house (screen on the front door and upstairs door maybe) that would really help to keep the house cool during the peak heat of the day. The owners are easy to contact and very pleasant. Thank you so much for a memorable, family vacation!
