Malolo Lailai Island Travel Guide

Tourist Guide
Musket Cove Marina showing a sunset, mountains and a beach
The second-largest of the Mamanuca Islands brings together a range of fantastic activities in an idyllic setting to offer the ultimate tropical experience.

Swim in a sheltered lagoon of warm, blue-green water and explore stunning coral reefs at Malolo Lailai Island. Sunbathe on long empty beaches or head to the spa to wash away the stresses and strains of home.

Originally a plantation producing copra, a product of coconut meat, the majority of the island remains covered by coconut palm forest. Set off on foot from any of the three coastal resorts and find yourself surrounded by trees as well as hibiscus and fragrant frangipani flowers.

With the morning temperature rising, return to the beach to paddle in the shallow lagoon or plunge into one of several swimming pools. Try kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding or feel the warm breeze through your hair as you sail a catamaran. Divers will be excited to find scuba equipment and instruction while surfers can take a short boat transfer to some of the best reef waves in the world.

After a morning at sea, relax in peace on the pristine golden beach or indulge yourself with a massage at the beauty spa. As the temperature drops, play a game of volleyball or head to the bar for a game of pool.

All that action will undoubtedly have given you an appetite. Find a great choice of restaurants on the island’s resorts. Eat fresh fish with organic vegetables grown on the island or get a taste of home with pizza and ice cream.

Malolo Lailai Island is located 12 miles (20 kilometers) west of Denarau Marina. Regular fast ferries travel between the two throughout the day. The other option is flying from Nadi Airport and making use of the island’s own private airstrip. All of the resorts here offer similarly luxurious accommodations with traditional bungalows for couples and larger villas for families. Lomani Island Resort does not accept bookings with children under 16 years old.

"Despite being a large and busy resort there is always somewhere you can have no one around. Also expire 2 other resorts. Heaps to do for teenagers and a good variety of restaurants. Clear water and snorkelling just off the beach."
