Excellent communication and hospitality. Francisco was super helpful in organizing our trip and transportation. The couple who welcomed us were lovely an attentive. This is very basic accommodation on a beautiful property in Maipu area of Mendoza. If you are looking for a "no frills" place to sleep it is a good, inexpensive option. Thanks!
Fantastic experience staying at Tikaykilla lodge! The manager Francisco was out for a few days while we stayed there but he was super helpful and responsive even remotely. He helped us finding places to visit and sorted out phone issues and it was also great to chat with him when he is not busy looking after others.
The lodge is small but has everything you need (basic toiletries, blanket and even has heated floor when we were cold at night!) it is about 15min walk from the main road/bus station to go to other wineries in Maipu but there is a wine museum just a couple of minutes away. We felt like at home and would not hesitate to recommend Tikaykilla to whoever visiting Mendoza/Maipu area!

No pude viajar. Suspendi el viaje por problemas personales.
I booked this place based on rating and, while well deserved for Francisco’s hosting, I wanted to write this review to help people make an informed booking choice.
The place is remote,in Maipú valley, and only worth staying at if you have a car. Not ideal for solo travellers. I’d recommend spending a bit more and staying in central Mendoza.
Francisco is a great host but the accommodation needs an update. OK for one night as a stopover but overpriced for what it is.
If you do stay, visit the wine museum down the road. It’s walking distance and worth it.

In Mendoza war alles ausgebucht. Dies war ein Ausweichquartier. Leider etwas ausserhalb aber mit dem Bus gut zu erreichen!

Looked better on paper
This is a nice quiet place to spend the night, nevertheless it feels ran down. finding the entrance is a challenge as the street number is behind a bushy tree.
the staff was great but the breakfast was subpar. Be warned breakfast starts at 9am.
The photos online are deceiving. it is not as big or fancy.

Dog and Cat were the real stars!
The lodge was basic, but Francisco’s friendliness and helpful nature made up for a lot. Only one real comment is that it would be better if the breakfast could start earlier than 9am, and if there could be just a bit more on offer for breakfast. The highlight was the beautiful, friendly and playful dog and cat in the lodge!

Wine-tasting couple
There were plusses and minuses. The area of Mendoza is close to wineries but not really so accessible withot a car (which we had so no complaints). The restaurant situation is not so good for evening meals as everyone eats late but finding a great afternoon place solves that problem. The hotel is really a 2 star in terms of comfort. And a crying baby in the next room! That's not so pleasant. But we enjoyed the company of the resident dog and cat.
Adorei.
Rooms are small and walls thin.(can hear neighbors talking) No a/c and nowhere to put luggage (floor). Breakfast is very limited (all carbs) and no other food available. Restaurants are a long walk...need a car or bikes if you stay here. Francisco is great! Very helpful in setting up tours or whatever you need.
Ficamos 2 dias e fomos muito bem atendidos pelo dono Francisco e seu funcionário Alex. A pousada é pequena e bem intimista.
Because we took the overnight bus from BA to Mendoza we arrived at Tikaykilla a few hours before the official check in time. Something had gone wrong with the booking because Tikaykilla hadn't gotten a conformation of our booking. This was no problem however, the staff offered us something to drink while they prepared our rooms and everything was quickly sorted out.
Francisco was absolutely great, he arranged reservations at Bodegas, taxi's and even a pick up from Maipu bikes when we wanted to rent bicycles.
Our bus Back to BA left at 18.00. After the check out we could leave our backpacks at the reception while we visited some more bodegas. When we returned they let us use our room to freshen up which was really great after a day in the Sun. The dog and cat are also really friendly.
I really recommend staying at Tikaykilla!
Two tips when visiting Maipu though!
Bring enough cash since a lot of bodegas, restaurants and stores only accept cash. There is only one ATM nearby and it didn't accept our bankcards (Maestro and MasterCard).
On sunday evening the restaurants are closed so you have to have a big lunch or go to Mendoza for dunner.
We stayed here for a couple of nights when we were in the Mendoza area. Accomodation is outside of town, in the quiet Maipo area, about a 20 min drive. Rooms were smallish, clean and simple. Fransisco was lovely and very helpful, though he no longer stays at the property himself - he had some travellers staying there and taking care of the property and guests. There's limited dinner options nearby available, so you'll need to play your meals.
Francisco makes you feel like you are staying over at a friends place. The room is very comfy (heated floors!) and his friendly yellow lab greets you at the door every morning. Fancisco really is top notch with his level of service. Highly recommend.
