Most of my reason for the negative rating is because of the staff and service. The man who checked us in acted like it was a chore to do it. He rushed through his spiel and when we asked one question he talked to us.like we were stupid. His overall presence was very snooty. The reason we booked this particular Hotel was because of its in-house restaurant Tailwinds. Unfortunately we regret it. Didn't understand who our waiter was, if it was the bartender or the man walking around on the floor once in awhile. Really didn't matter since they both were very unattentive. Bartender was too busy constantly talking and the man wandering the floor was confused most of the time. My mothers meal was inedible. Her steak was Raw. Didn't even want to send it back, we were just done with this place at that point. Room was small but descent. Wouldn't recommend the restaurant EVER!

I liked the cleanliness of the property. It was decorated in a modern, open style. However, the amenities and staff were poor. We stayed two days. Our refrigerator would just barely keep things cool, definitely not cold - even on the coldest setting. Desk staff didn't seem at all concerned about helping us with this and did not offer to switch it out for another one. The TV had very limited channels and it was difficult to access them. Was reminded at check in and check out that we booked through a third party (Expedia) so wouldn't be getting the same things as if we hadn't - for example, we were denied the military discount at check in because of this, and could not get a receipt for our payment at check out. Breakfast was very expensive - I tried to get a single yogurt which was priced outrageously at nine dollars! Nine dollars for ONE yogurt! The Starbucks coffee shop was only open from 8 to 10 in the AM. I would have normally expected longer hours for this - say 6 am to 11 am. No other coffee available except single cup coffee machines in the room which were rather cheap and no water was provided for it. So overall, I felt this was an unwelcoming place compared to other hotels at which we have stayed. Mostly concerned about making money and not about providing good service to its guests. To be denied the military discount was especially troubling. It seemed every time they denied you something, they offered free cookies which seemed kind of silly to me.

The lobby is attractive and welcoming. The bar is beautiful and the staff were very helpful. We really liked the pool. It’s big and the temperature was perfect. I appreciate all of the small touches such as the towels folded like swans and clean towels on all the exercise machines in the gym. Our room was very clean with updated decorating. Very nice. I’d stay again next time I visit Madison

Rooms were very clean, nice looking, comfortable and had a very good night sleep without noises from other rooms. What I didn't like, was the snow accumulation in the parking lot, it should be cleaned more often to make it safe for the customers.
