Historical atmosphere, French colonial governor’s residence. Great service, friendly staff. They went “the extra mile “, especially, Narin at Reception - a real super star !! Excellent breakfast and service in restaurant.

I was very happy stayed at the property. It is very quiet and calm. Good for relaxing. I didin't like breakfast line and restaurant. Bteakfast line was't variety and food didint look fresh. Also the choice of food at restaurant was'nt international. Its more local, like buffalo.

Peaceful, elegant and beautiful property.
This is a beautiful property with a relaxing environment. The staff are very attentive and friendly. I’ve traveled extensively and have had the pleasure of staying at many 5-star properties, this is one of the best I’ve seen! Highly recommend it and Luang Prabang for your next vacation.

A lovely spot with a beautiful pool and garden and very spacious and well appointed rooms. Very attentive staff, friendly, kind and eager to please. A quiet oasis not far from the hustle and bustle of Luang Prabang.

There is very little I can say that was not fantastic about this property. Wonderful staff, great food, beautiful gardens, private pool, amazing room, very comfortable bed, etc, etc. They give you free access to bikes to cruise the town. They provide bottled water, mosquito spray, and anything else you need, complimentary. The breakfast buffet is amazing. The only "half" complaint I could possibly make would be that anything you buy/order at the resort is quite expensive. Its hard to stomach a $15 pina colada at the pool, when you can get something similar in town for $1. We took a cooking class with Chef John, which really was awesome and we loved every minute of it, but again, quite expensive. Other than that, it was really one of our greatest resort vacations. The local scene is amazing!

The Sofitel is a beautiful property, however the service was definitely lacking in many ways. To name a few: - The staff was unaware of many of the most popular things to do in the area. For example, when we inquired where the boat dock was to take the tour to the Pak Ou caves, they didn’t know - The staff’s English was so poor it was very difficult to communicate. For example, they told the tuk-tuk driver to take us to the wrong place because they couldn’t understand - There are only 11 chairs around the pool despite there being plenty of room for more, which was not enough for all guests - The lighting in the bathroom was extremely poor, making it impossible to put on make up - We tried to book some excursions through the hotel and they marked up the prices 4x vs booking it yourself - The fruit basket in our room was brown and over ripe - We ran out of both toilet paper and bottled water in our room and had to call to request more - The restaurant was poor and out of many things we ordered. The coffee was bitter and tasted like instant - The milk on the buffet was room temperature. We had stomach aches the entire time we were there - The hotel is on the outskirts of town, yet they provide shuttle service to town only between 6 and 9 PM, not during the day. Our stay was a huge disappointment. I would not recommend unless the management vastly improves. We checked out the Avani+ which was close to town, beautiful with great service. Stay there instead!

The location is very special and the villas are absolutely beautiful and give you full privacy. The good can be improved. The menu is limited and more importantly the chicken that I got was almost uncooked. It would be good to offer a few geniounly local dishes and a few western option. The taste of the food was not good at all.

The worst experience caused by Expedia
1. Expedia overcharged me and refuse to match hotel price as Expedia promised in its own website by no responses. 2. The expedia reservation and the reservation the hotel received is different. the hotel insists my reservation does not include breakfast and transportation transfer. I argued with this hotel three times in a short morning. Exhausted. So don't book Accor hotel through Expedia. Chaotic Management and communication between expedia and hotel.

Nice Hotel Great Location
Hotel is very good, food is great and location is fabulous. The only down side is the noise from the hallways into the rooms when people in hallways. Everything else is very good.

A charming oasis of calm
We spent 3 nights here and loved every minute. The hotel is a little way out of the centre but it takes 10-15 minutes easy walking to the historic centre of LP or a tuktuk taxi for a few dollars. We used the free hotel bikes as well which it’s a great way to get around the various sights in town. The hotel and grounds are beautifully restored and provide a very lush and restful environment to relax after a day visiting the sights. Complimentary tea and cakes by the pool in the late afternoon was a pleasure greatly appreciated. The staff are attentive and extremely friendly. Breakfast was excellent but we can’t comment on the restaurant as we preferred to explore the many good Lao restaurants in town. We did visit the restaurant of the sister hotel in town, 3 Nagas, and had a great Lao style meal. All in all a wonderful place to stay and we highly recommend.

Highly recommend it.
Beautiful hotel with amazing pool, lovely spacious rooms and attentive friendly service. 15 min walk to center of town, but worth it to be away from the town motorcycle noise. Only downside is not enough local food selections on the restaurant menu. Restaurant and menu need to be more Laotian and less western...even the music seemed a bit off. Otherwise great stay!

A good experience
A wonderful hotel with interesting historical background. Very friendly staff. Inconvenient location which could be overcome by shuttle service in day time. Maybe an air-conditioned lobby be built somewhere - space is available. Very friendly staff, and helpful too.

Boutique hotel gem
This 25 room, magnificent property was a sanctuary in the extreme heat of May in Luang Prabang. The rooms are huge and beautifully appointed. We had a private garden that we loved. This may also be the first hotel pool sufficiently alluring to cause us to swim for exercise each day. While there are hourly tuk tuk shuttles for free from the hotel to its sister property, 3 Nagas, we enjoyed the 15 minute walk into town. The hotel property is the former governor's property and is quite large, and lushly planted. A perfect oasis. Breakfast outdoors was lovely as well. Marie was welcoming and provided excellent restaurant tips.

Only 25 rooms, great pool, nice restaurant, friendly staff, and beautiful setting. We had our anniversary and got upgraded to a pool villa. Rooms were great, with open semi-outdoor shower and bathtub.

Dirty and full of mosquitoes
For a Sofitel we've been a bit disappointment. The room cleanness is mostly a big issue for us and mosquitoes made outside stay after 6 pm almost impossible. There are good things to say about the hotel, friendly staff, great breakfast but good things got cancelled due to bad experience. Ok, the room is fair, pretty big, decent design but it's not clean. We found pee stains on toilet as we arrived, floor was filthy and during all our days there I never seen a cleaning mop or anything to wash the floors. We had to disinfect the toilet our self, I put some sanitizer all over the toilet cap (it left a white spot when dried) and noticed it was still there after 2 days, this is how great the cleaning is. We asked for our sheets to be changed on 3rd day, was never changed and our bed was made in front of us, weird, left me speak less after they left, I thought is a joke. I told the front desk staff the room is not cleaned right, the conclusion they reached is to tell the cleaners to arrange my things. I have no problem with my things being touched, was never the problem. I didn't even bother to explain in more details as I told them the room needs proper cleaning. Then, you get a garden. First thing, wifi there is not working. I tried to stay with my laptop out to enjoy a bit of free air, disappointment again. After 6 PM the mosquitoes invade the outsides, you can not stay out for more then 5 minutes, I dare you to try, never seen something like this before. There was a spray insid

A 5 star hotel with character and history
Huge rooms with private gardens beautifully designed with an amazing serenity and sense of history.The staff could not have been more helpful and charming! Particular thanks to Ines for all her excellent advice and warmest of welcomes- She is a great asset to the Sofitel group

I love the hotel; especially the room terrace. Good service, friendly staffs. Among the 5 stars hotel in this town, I think this hotel is the best.

Stunning, Attention to detail!
Nice and quiet because if the distance from the tourist area, but requires catching the last 8:30pm shuttle at 3 Nagas, or added expense of using tuk tuks. Bicycles not available in the evening and women shouldn't walk alone at night where it is not busy.

Lovely place to stay in Luang Prabang - the tropical gardens are very peaceful (and now well-stocked!) and the rooms the classic colonial decor with four poster beds with lots of teak finishings, white linen, Lao silk soft firnishings and high ceilings. This was my third time in Luang Prabang and the Sofitel is my favourite of the hotels I've stayed at. Well recommended.

Luxury Hotel worth it with Great Service!
Hotel services was very good. The hotel grounds and gardens were amazing and nice, as was the pool. The breakfast was good, but not much variety. Everything about the Luang Prabang Sofitel was great. The only improvement would be the restaurant food and menu. The quality was okay, but not excellent and menu needs some more healthy options instead of so much buffalo meat.
