Golf Getaway
Very impressive property, huge bedrooms, great location for what we needed. Recommend highly, only downside is 2 bathrooms for 14 people, 1 being an ensuite. But we made it work no problem!

The negatives: Communication with host was not efficient - we had to wait for a while for pin to get key to access property and we were unaware of some of the rules attached to the property like having family over to enjoy a meal. (Which the host allowed us to after a lengthy convo) Although there was a cleaning fee all rubbish needed taken off property by us. The musty smell when we entered was met alongside unclean areas inside like spiderwebs and moths along the window sills. Suggest you bring pillows unless you like thin musty ones. The property was surrounded by chicken and rooster feathers and poo making it unsuitable for small children to run around. It was our last resort at such short notice but we wouldnt stay there again.

Gorgeous night views over Lower Hutt lights
gardens and surrounding grounds wonderful, vintage style house fabulous. But no instructions for spa bath, plenty of videos but no instructions on how to use them, no tea towels. Small things amiss, still very enjoyable stay.

Amazing Property!!!!
Would love to come back for another stay! We had a great time, the property was awesome and weather was good so we made use of all the outdoor space. The house was clean and tidy and just what we were after. Great space, great beds and definitely a great view. Although there were no flannels or cloths and pepper for our eggs 😆 we made do and all had a fab time.

Great time
We had a great time and loved the house experience. It was an adventure living in an older house. Loved exploring the outdoors. Loved the outdoor areas. Just something that could be improved on we could have done with an extra bath mat and we were only given 10 towels for a booking of 11 people. All round we loved our time at the house.

Fabulous retreat close to Lower Hutt and Wellington
We loved the lodge style accommodation. Eight friends but equally suited to couples. Quirky, expansive, great areas to l8ve and relax on all levels. Cold snap I in the weather caught us the first night but we sorted extra blankets and marvelled at a few snow flakes. Friendly resident chicken and rooster. We lived it.

Absolutely loved out weekend away and what an amazing venue. We will definitely be back again. Our only complaint was that the dishwasher wasn't working. The lights in the house kept doing some strange things too like dimming, flickering or turning on and off but it just gave the Manor a haunted feel which made the weekend even more enjoyable. Hopefully this things are sorted by the time we book again.

A lovely way to celebrate my birthday with a few friends! Unfortunately the rain meant that we were unable to enjoy the lovely grounds but luckily there is enough space indoors to accommodate a larger group 😊

It's spacious but something needed to be done
It's a beautiful and spacious house, most of my family members liked it. However, there was something that needed to be fixed. 1. The wifi is not covering the whole house. 2. Only 2 showers were not enough for 10 people. 3. The first floor and the living room were not cleaned thoroughly and had a bad smell.

Beautiful property but very poorly managed.
While the property itself is excellent, there were many issues including inaccuracies in the original listing. The house had power faults due to poor maintenance, was dirty and poorly equipped. Communication with the person responsible was frustrating and unhelpful. I wish I could recommend this beautiful location but the experience was severely compromised by mismanagement.

Overall house was nice. Run down though.
House was nice. Few things missing though. No vacuum. No broom. 3 tea towels for 4 days and 1 towel each for 4 days. Went to do a load of washing and the water waste wasnt hooked up and flooded so we couldnt do washing. Bbq outside required new fittings to work. We purchased the fittings and installed at our cost. Have although booked the house for same time next year. Overall enjoyed our stay. Owner was very communicative. Thank you houng

Even in the worst winter weather was still amazing
The photos can never justify the experience of this property and house. Until you see it in real life you just wont understand. This house is amazing! Plenty of room for any occasion and lots more. We stayed while the worst weather warning going on in Wellington, meanwhile we were warm and sheltered up at the estate. We never got to experience the outdoor areas as was raining, but house was more than enough. Driveway got a block with a landslip due to extreme weather... but quickly removed by our group, neighbor, and the owners. So all back on track which was unheard of in that weekend in Wellington. Beautiful place, I would definitely recommend, and cant wait to book there again! AMAZING

Great for groups
Communication from property manager was prompt and helpful. The house is ideal for large groups with lots of different areas to congregate in. Only downside is there only being one shower (apart from an ensuite one).

AMAZING stay!!
What an amazing property!!! Well and truly exceeded all my expectations. Wouldnt reccomend watching a scary movie in it though haha!! We will defiantly be back for another trip. The only thing i would suggest is some written instructions on how to work the TV's - We didn't want to use them often but it would have been nice to have the option - not a complaint just a suggestion. Also there was a broken bottle at the front door at arrival but not a biggy either. Thanks again. Very beautiful property.

We loved every moment staying at Woodroyd estate! The grounds were amazing, the house was grand and expansive. It was a beautiful location for our family, and all of our guests are raving about their experience here this past weekend. Thank you so much for a smooth and easy stay, we will be back!

For that price, I was expecting better
When I arrived, I did not received the check-in details (I assumed it was the website, as the message showed up 1 day later), the owners were nice (even they were annoyed) and guided me to be able to check-in. The place is large and beautiful. Cleanliness: There were spider webs in the stairs, under the beds was very dirty ( I always check before leaving in case I dropped anything) and I had to clean most dishes and glasses (the dishwasher doesn't work, it run, but doesn't clean) Amenities: There is not much in the kitchen to cook with, the kettle doesn't work either but the barbecue were a pleasure to use. Service: In the morning we found out there were no hot water, so I contacted the owners and around midday there were some so I told them to not worry about it. My friends and I decided to enjoy a naked sun bath in the garden (there is no neighbors which is awesome!) and someone showed up! He said he was the owner, when at the phone I was talking to a woman, so clearly that man could be anyone! Nobody told me that someone would showed up to check the hot water cylinder! Just a great surprise to be naked in front of strangers... Then the plumber arrived and they stayed for at least 3hours! Taking their time, cutting the grass and having dinner on the parking. ( I booked that accommodation to get some privacy, not to share my time with the owners) When they were well aware about that problem and could have fix it before our arrival as there were no guests on the day before (that is why we were in theory able to check in earlier but because of the check-in problem we couldn't). During that time the owner had a look around as well (violation of privacy?) I received then a message from the other owner telling me that I better look at the house rules and leave the place impeccable if I don't want a surcharge as I moved some furniture (I moved 1 headboard that wasn't attached to the bed). I have been a host since 4 years and renting other places that I ALWAYS left in perfect conditions, therefore I felt highly insulted by that comment. On the check-out date, my friend told me a car parked on the property in the morning (again, could be anyone) and said he was the owner (different from the 2 others I interacted with), so not too sure what he was doing there that early, checking what we were doing maybe? Overall, I didn't feel comfortable at all and found the owners difficult and intrusive. I will not book again and cannot recommend to others.

Hi Leslie. I have got texts evidence from a person named Joh saying you could not access your email for instructions so he asked me to send it to johthom****@****.com . So your comment about not sending move-in instructions was not fair on us. The text was sent to me on Oct 31 2019. Check in time to Woodroyd is 4 pm. You might have not checked in as early as you hadwished but certainly not late. We are sorry for the hot water problem during your stay and I believe we did all we could to have it up and running for you. This could happen to anyone at anytime. We took reasonable time to replace the element of the cylinder but it surely was not 3 hours. On arrival, we found many furniture moved around even our policy clearly statesdthat moving furniture around was prohibited. The bed was moved during your stay, furniture in the bar area was moved around to make way for what looked like a dancing pole right in the middle. I didn’t mentioned it to you as it looked like you were having an intimate party amongst your friend and I didn’t want you to feel uncomfortable. I am now mentioning it in the most polite way possible to make my point. Please note that you booked to stay only. Instead, we believe you had a party and invited people over (a van driven in and got lost, didn’t know where to go so they asked me where the party was on my way out. They had event dress ups on). You even had a bartender on-site for the party. After your stay, we had found various party items and a couple of under garment pieces around. Due to the problem of hot water during your stay, we did not mention these breaks of our policies as we thought it’d make up for the problem you have had nor charged you any extra for event. Usually hosting an event at our venue costs anywhere from $400 to $2000 +(more for major events). I can confirm that during our time spent at the property, I only used it to sort things out and did not have dinner on site. Also Woodroyd is owned by multiple shareholders. Upon seeing that you have had a party and furniture were moved around, a gentle reminder to move things back and clean things is acceptable in my opinion, if that appeared by you as an “insult” ( your word here) then I’m sorry. We are always gentle with our guests and have never used forceful or disrespectful words, that I can reassure you. Best, Hieu

Judi’s Family Stay
A great venue for a big group. Huge bedrooms. Wonderfully furnished with artefacts befitting the title ‘Estate’. An elegant setting for a wedding. Beautiful surroundings and outlook. Massive outdoor barbecue and fire. Walks and waterfalls. The downstairs entry, fireplace, bar, cellar and powder room are a delight on entering the property. On the middle floor it was fun choosing bedrooms, and entertaining ares. Bathrooms are beautiful. The upstairs floor is a huge bedroom whose size and features are the highlight of the visit and exceed the photos. Congratulations to the landlords for recreating the estate. A memorable experience enjoyed by all.

Beautiful property for summer visits.
Kitchen definitely needs a revamp ie it was lacking in kitchen utensils etc for preparing food etc. Heating in house needs a revamp in winter months. No overall heating, but a heater in every bedroom which would have been nice to have had switched on prior to our arrival.

Thanks for your feedback Diane we’ll definitely look into the kitchen utensils. We however live quite far away from this property and it’s just not practical for us to travel back and forth to turn the heaters on before each arrival. Have a lovely day, Huong

Incredibly impressive, spacious and gorgeous property.
I had a bridal party stay here with me in the lead up to my big day. This place was absolutely perfect. It's huge, it's gorgeous, it's roomy, it's spacious, it's beautiful and it surprised us every time we came back to it. We all absolutely loved our time here in this amazing resort.
