Thoroughly enjoyed my 5-day stay at Sanborn Guest House. Gary and Jaime have thought of everything you need for your stay. They are wonderful hosts and really knowledgeable about the local area. I stayed in the Sanborn Room, which is very comfortable and decorated with eclectic items from Gary and Jaime's travels. It's good having the separate sitting area with a lounge, a couple of chairs, and a coffee table, as well as access to the shared kitchen. The off-street secure parking is a bonus as street parking in the area is very tight. The location is top-notch - the street itself is really quiet and safe but it's only a block away from Santa Monica Boulevarde so only a few minutes walk to a diverse range of quality restaurants, cafes and shops. Los Feliz and the lake are also within walking distance. DTLA, Hollywood, Griffith Observatory/Park, Dodger Stadium are all within 10-15 min drive. Would definitely stay again.

On a hill so if you are mobility impaired may need to consider a flatter more accessible alternative, otherwise it’s an excellent location.

I was traveling alone and looking for secured parking. I was very happy with the walkable location, loads of places to stash all my "necessities," clean shower, and comfortable bed. I would recommend to a woman traveling alone (or a couple) who want an excellent location. The organic food store nearby was a great find for fresh and cooked foods. The outdoor area was welcoming and well maintained.

Family get away
Went on vacation with family. Owner of the house was helpful and friendly. Basic amenities we needed were provided, plus more (towels, shampoo/soap, tea, coffe). We Stayed in queen bed-room and it was still pretty spacious. House is located in quiet area with a lot of food spots to choose from near by. Good stay overall.

Gary was so wonderful and kind. Very welcoming. The room was very clean. The mattress was so comfortable. And we loved the style of the old home. Also the air conditioning and ceiling fan were great additions for being very comfortable.

THE BEST stay I've ever had in La. The host was so friendly and knowledgeable. The place itself was private, clean, cute, and a perfect spot for if you're traveling solo. There was every amenity one could dream of; heater, a/c, tv, parking, kitchen use, etc. The vibe here was truly amazing and I looked forward to heading home for the night. I would recommend this place to anyone. It's a great location in the heart of Silverlake with lots of shops and food spots in walking distance. 11/10!

Hosts were very accommodating of our late check-in. Private parking was extremely convenient and stress-free. One of the most charming places we've had the luxury of staying in while in LA. Silverlake is a great jump off point for your southern California adventures too.

The room was quite comfortable .David was very helpful in making suggestions where things were. The room was near to everything. Appreciate the off street parking. The yard area was very nice as well. Too bad the microwave didn’t work. The room could use a deep cleaning around windows and baseboards. A toilet paper roll holder would be nice.

Great clean & basic home stay. 2 rooms in a very quiet & safe neighborhood with great places nearby (walkable). Our room was large, great aircond, extra dbl firm comfy bed, plenty of light & curtains, no facilities-but great outdoor area with secure parking, small ensuite -shower & toilet, shared kitchen with all you need, close to Hollywood with bus nearby, approx 1hr from LAX, Beverly Hills and great hosts. Enjoyed our (couple) stay.

Room so cozy, 3 windows, view of lovely large yard, garden, Buddha sculpture lit up at night, parking space free for any friend, nice neighborhood, near fab cafe/store, free bus on Santa Monica Blvd. Missed little body lotion. Won't stay anywhere else in LA. Fab Ikea bed and superb heating system. A/c too I would think.

Lovely house in a quiet neighborhood. Gary and Jaime are great hosts. Fully equipped kitchen. Cannot think of what could be improved - wait - yes a water boiler / kettle would have been great. Otherwise all was perfect!

Really amazing hospitality, very easy check-in, and welcoming host. The place was nice and clean with the shared kitchen being convenient to store leftovers from all the great eats in the neighborhood. Parking was worth its weight in gold. ONLY issue- please like hard beds if you stay here, the bed was rock hard and ended ups seizing my back up really bad. It is a matter of preference, some folks love hard beds.

A Lovely place to Stay
A very lovely guest house with 2 very nice hosts. I loved the room we were in. It was quiet, private and peaceful with a shared kitchen. Very lovely backyard. A short walk away many restaurants and coffee shops. Our favorite was Cafe Stella, just 3 blocks away. Wicked very spicy Bloody Mays and excellent food. Definitely our go to place when we return to Los Angeles.

If you are looking for a homestay, this is ideal. And surprisingly, easily located to Hollywood landscape icons, local landmarks such as the Observatory, and interesting eateries... a bit far from LAX so rent a car with GPS.
