Just Incredible!
A wonderful and tranquil setting with superb views over Lake Tarawera and the mountain. Really didn't want to leave. Great communication with the hosts and the house is in lovely order with everything required for a homely stay. Would love to stay again in the future.

Wonderful place to stay if visiting Rotorua. It gets you out of the suphulorus small of Rotorura and into clean mountain/lake air. The view of the volcano and lake is stunning. The deck is a great luxury and the place is very well appointed for a relaxing stay.

Beautiful location and so peaceful. Great open plan kitchen, dinning and lounge with plenty of room plus a large deck. Plenty of parking and the owner was so helpful and quick to communicate with. Recommend the property

We enjoyed a 2 night stay here so we could attend a wedding 2 mins down the road at the Black Barn. Perfect location, we enjoyed a quick trip into Rotorua the morning of the wedding (20mins e/w). The views were magnificent, spacious rooms, well equiped kitchen and amenities. We would happily stay here again. Communication great with excellent details. Check in time/out was no problem for us.

A perfect place for us to stay for a couple of days. We weren't home much as we went to a friend's wedding near by. Very reasonably priced bach. Great views. Cosy and comfortable. Great comms with the host too. We would stay again for sure thanks.

Overall very good, but bad internet and signal
The house was very good, clean and tidy. The view was fantastic. However on the check in & out days, there were no internet nor signal, so we could not get any form of communication going, which could be dangerous if any emergency were to happen. Strangely, signal and internet were fine on the second day for some reason.

Weekend getaway
The property itself and location were great but the check in check out times are ridiculous and leave you rushed and feeling a bit cheated out of pocket as it is definitely not a cheap batch. We payed for 2 nights and check in was only alowed at 3pm so the day is lost and check out is at 10am which means getting up at 6 to make it out in time. My advice would be to make the check in and check out time both at 12pm midday, that gives the owers an afternoon and a full morning to clean and prepare the property for the next guests and would also leave you not feeling cheated out of pocket. We will not recommend or use a batch with these check in and out times again.

Hi Mark The check in and check out times are clearly stated on the site before booking. We make efforts to accommodate guests' needs but in the peak season, there are some days with departures and arrivals so the cleaner needs time to get the house ready. This is not that different to motels or hotels. That said, I am sorry to hear it didn't work for you. Hope you find something more suitable next time. it is a nice house but looks a bit tired, the communication with the manager was very slow and the cleaning was very poor.

Our family loved our little get away to Lake Tarawera. Our accommodation suited us as a family of four and had everything we required. The expansive deck and beautiful views overlooking the bush and lake are just beautiful.

Cosy Comfortable Lake House
We had such a wonderful time as a family. The views and bird life were so beautiful to watch. We look forward to going back again at some stage. The hosts were so lovely to work with, they had fantastic communication.

Wonderful peaceful bach
We (family of 4) stayed for 3 nights as a getaway wanting some peace and relaxation. The house was perfect if not a bit more than we needed, as there were plenty more beds. The location is lovely and peaceful with stunning views across the lake from a slightly elevated position. It's about a 15 minute drive to Rotorua but the distance has its advantages. The fire was great on a cold night, but bring your own firewood. We didn't bring any as we weren't thi ki g about having a fire but there was a short power cut in the evening so we gathered wood from fallen trees in the local wooded area. Would definitely stay again.

Lovely property with amazing views.Well catered for with all amenities.Comfy beds,well heated.We bought own wood and found fire works well to heat room . Very steep driveway,have to be careful exiting property onto road. Toilet door handle needs fixing,hubby got stuck in there lol,but otherwise we loved it and would be back.

Our stay on the lake
Had an enjoyable stay, no reception, but able to use wifi, our car is quite low for the driveway, as its very steep and scraped coming in and out so do recommend a truck or a standard non lowered vehicle. Took a little while to heat the place up, as the ceilings are quite high, but when it did heat up, it was very toastie and warm for our little grandchildren and ourselves, waking up to the view was exceptional, kitchen was well facilitated, lounge suite could do with covers during the cold season, as its leather, and felt it was alil cold to sit on. We kept the heat lamp on in the bathroom to keep it warm, otherwise it was very cold for our lil ones first thing in the morning, plenty of heating supplies, we were overall happy with our stay, would definitely stay again.

Matariki weekend getaway
Fabulous setting with great views. As this was midwinter, it was icy on my arrival after sundown so heating was a priority. There is a fire, but take in some fuel as a backup. There was none to sustain a fire when I arrived. Otherwise a quiet location with great amenities. I wandered along the walkway at the bottom of the garden to access a lake front trail, this was great exercise! It would be an awesome spot during the summer months.

Nice cottage set overlooking bush and magnificent view over lake. Well appointed kitchen, with heat pump and fireplace( bring your own wood) . good wifi, no cell reception. Two good bedrooms. Washing machine and dryer. Great walk down through the backyard to lakeside walking track . Good communication and generous flexibility from Ling .

Very disappointing stay. Very, very cold in main living area as there were no curtains on large windows and single glazed glass...advertised a fire in living room but we had to provide our own wood, this was after we had paid! Heat pump was there but alone it did not heat the area because of exposed windows. Plus no privacy. No guarantees the gas bbq was going to have gas, so we had to go fill it if empty!!! Maybe have a spare one? We would not recommend this place to anyone.

I am sorry to hear your feedback. Tawawera can be cold in winter, which is why we've installed a 9.5KW heat pump plus 4 oil column heaters for guest comfort. I've also noted on the website and welcome guide to bring firewood if you'd like to use the wood burner (firewood bags are available from supermarket and petrol stations) because some guests are concerned with fire safety so it's an optional. We've had over 10 years of happy guests with many returning each year. Again sorry to hear your feedback and our bach isn't for you.

That mountain though!
We loved our time here, such a relaxing home in a stunner of a location. Great to get away from the busy city, sit in absolute quietness and that Mt Tarawera view is so spectacular. Kitchen fully equipped, great facilities with everything you need. Totally relaxed here, Ling is great to deal with, responds quickly and willingly. Sad to leave, kids had a blast too with all the toys.

Great house, amazing views and super well priced. Bedrooms not quite as photographed- one is very small- but clean and comfortable. Driveway is very steep and not a huge amount of parking so something to be aware of. All in all- a great house and would stay again :)

Quiet and Tranquil
Awesome View. Nice layout. Definitely would stay again. Native birds flying around everywhere. Good place to unwind and chill have a barbeque and a beer on the deck looking out at the lake and the Mountain. Take your Bug repellant. ;-)
