Property was very unique and cool at the city wall. Ver convenient too. What made the experience truly fantastic however was the level of service of the owner and front desk. Javier runs a top notch hotel and gave a personal level of attention and service that made us feel very special.

A wonderful place to stay for a remarkable and unique experience. Javier welcomed us and made our stay incredibly nice. We had special attentive service such as a welcome glass of wine and nightly water decanter placed in our room. The service overall was just top notch. We stayed in I think the best room, in the tower (In English it is called the and Madness room!). Absolutely beautiful sunrise and mountain views from everywhere in the room. On our last morning, we choose breakfast in the Solarium and it was incredible--- attention to detail and the exquisite tastes made this an amazing experience. Highly recommend.

Señor Javier was a gracious and attentive host with a wonderful smile. We wished we had planned a longer stay at this beautiful castle/hotel. The view from both our room and the tower was spectacular. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was huge, and Javier lays out a delicious breakfast. If we ever come back to this area, we will stay here!

Historic wine stay
Castillo El Collado is a historic building with modern amenities. It is like staying in the castle of Beauty and the Beast. It has a tower that is the second highest level in LaGuardia (first is the church). Tower has 360 degree view (breathtaking). Our host Javier was very accommodating and helpful. Car parking is on street or in nearby lots. Our room was very romantic, a four poster bed with “curtains”. LaGuardia is a very laid back village, but it has many restaurants and bodegas in the town, and within 10 minutes drive. Go there for wine tasting and to experience the slow life.

Fabulous view from our room and from the tower. Great location for touring the picturesque old city and the many wineries in the area. Javier at the hotel and David in the restaurant were wonderful.

The hotel was very nice. The owner and staff were delightful and we would stay there again, no question. It is a beautiful restored castle in a very convenient and quiet area. We were treated like the king and queen of the castle !

Delightful hotel in a gorgeous village
Nicely restored stone building just outside the walls an incredible fairy tale medieval village. The hotel was unique, well-appointed and comfortable. We were mainly left to ourselves most of the time. The view from the tower is lovely. Being there is like stepping back 500 years. Would definitely visit again!

Overall a good stay, outside is probably more impressive than the inside. Parking was convenient. And it was nice to have a room where we could actually open the windows for fresh air. my husband enjoyed the massage chair which was an unexpected surprise. We did not dine at the restaurant.

gorgeous historic building beautiful walled town
Really lovely stay. The staff were great the rooms huge and quirky. Very comfortable beds and enormous bathrooms. This isn’t a slick shiny white box style hotel it’s a very old fashioned grand building with quirks. However the rooms were so comfortable and large and the staff are great, not much English is spoken but we all managed to communicate. It’s right on the wall of the town we didn’t stay for breakfast as there are endless tapas bars very close by that do very tasty very cheap alternatives to breakfast. Gorgeous little town with amazing restaurants and bars. We didn’t have one bad meal in fact the food was fantastic everywhere we went. Also very close to loads of bodegas to do the wine tours. Walkable to ysios on the outskirts of town as well as many within the walls.

Lovely experience in a medieval setting
Castillo was a wonderful experience. Our room was very spacious and check in and check out were quite easy. The staff was friendly and accommodating and we really enjoyed the space and the tower with beautiful views of the surrounding vineyards and mountains. I would highly recommend the hotel and can not wait to return to beautiful Laguardia for another visit!

It was really fun to stay in a castle. LaGuardia is the perfect medieval walled city and the Castillo El Collado sits at one end of this walkable city. Cars are only allowed around the city walls not inside. So parking is going to be quite difficult and a good walk away from the property. Plus there are many stairs to get up to the door and more to get to your room and no lift. Just FYI. I would still stay here because how many times to you get to stay in a Castle? good food and good people.

A special place in a lovely village.
Great stay in this lovely hotel. As with previous comments the only downside is the distance from the car park and steps up to the hotel........just take your time it’s worth the effort.

Anna was a gracious host. We loved the room, the grounds, and the town of Laguardia. The only problem was that the shower head would not stay in the hook on the wall. Other than that, everything was wonderful.

Great hotel in an old castle
We loved this hotel! We couldn't believe it was only rated as two star. We thought the hotel was equivalent to 4 star hotels we stayed at elsewhere in Spain. The service was top notch and the linens and cleanliness of the hotel was very good. Highly recommended.

The staff, Virginia and Ana, were very helpful in letting me know about what the hotel and town had to offer as well as arranging wine tours. The hotel is in a castle and is very nice, located in a great area and has that old European charm. I would definitely stay there again without hesitation and look forward to doing so in the future.

Worth going out of your way
This is a remarkable confluence of place and space. The town, itself, is lovely and accessible and the Hotel is amazing, grand and intimate at the same time. And, Virgiinia, who seems to be behind the desk all the time, is an expert on all things local and fun. Her hints and guidance were perfect. So, go to Laguardia and stay at the castillo el Collado.

Lovely quirky hotel in a fabulous old village
We found it difficult to locate. There is a sign, but it was on the opposite direction to our travel. You should pull up outside the hotel up the hill in a little area nearer to the level of the hotel to unload bags then park in the free public car park which is down a lot of steps. We had a room at the front which was beautiful. However if you are concerned about noise you may be better getting one at the back as there are dogs barking across the field and it is right above the outside terrace of the restaurant. The restaurant did great food and wines but as it was nearly empty when we went in , it lacked a bit of atmosphere. Fabulous views from the top of the hotel. We saw other hotels in Laguardia but this was definitely the one to book and we will return.

Beautiful historic hotel on the edge of Laguardia. Location offers great views of La Rioja. Staff is great. Breakfast was great. Each room has unique decor, and property is well maintained.

Disappointing.
I expected more based on reviews I had read about the hotel. Overall, hotel was clean and charming; food was great. But, lacking in attention to detail and not as portrayed on website. There is no wine bar or any other bar. The parking is not on site and requires you to carry your bags up and hill and then another two flights of stairs into the hotel. The hotel seems to be run by a father and daughter; while the father was gracious and very helpful, the daughter always seemed to be in a hurry, and even when we were checking out, did not get up from the desk to assist with our bags or to close the door as we were juggling our luggage.

The Hotel was in a great location and comprised a quirky arrangement.It was somewhat style over substance with prices 20% higher than surrounding venues. The reason for the low mark is that we stayed in room 3 which is situated underneath the main restaurant area and every footstep and chair movement was applified in the room. Avoid this room at all costs if you fancy a siesta our expect to sleep before midnight.

Lovely castle. Great views from the tower. Comfortable room with good bathroom. All well decorated. Laguardia is a beautiful city. Would recommend getting the bus to logrono and going tapas hopping.

Upon our arrival, we were pleasantly greeted and were thrilled with our beautiful room. We were given a nice glass of wine and introduced to the picturesque surroundings of La Rioja from the top of their tower, with a 360 degree view. On a personal note, I was admiring the beautiful roses from the garden and, later that evening, our host brought them to our room for us to enjoy. He was a gracious host and very helpful in scheduling tours of the local wineries. The food in the restaurant was delicious. We couldn't have had a more delightful experience.

Ideal spot in La Rioja
Beautiful wine country hill top village. Wished we had stayed more than 4 nights. Staff was accommodating to every request. Room #6 had gorgeous views, lots of space, spa tub, and very comfortable bedding. We will be back!

The owner a lovely older man greeted us even though it was late. The hotel has a certain charm and was warm enough. Breakfast a disappointment as all items are displayed on individual plates on your table covered in cling film. Limited choice and as a non meat lover a table with plates of salami etc wasn't the best thing to rise to. The room itself on the whole was fine but as paying for the honeymoon suite it lacked many little touches, poor quality and sparse toiletries, no tea/coffee facilities, no safe, no iron and ironing board, slippers but no bathrobes. So felt that perhaps we shouldn't have spent the 'extra' on this type of room as no luxuries. We did wonder if the double Jacuzzi bath bumped up the price but the maid showed us a standard room and this also had the same bathroom. Big bathroom which was cold and had no under floor heating. We stayed two nights and were called back to UK for work so couldn't stay the final night, but in hindsight I am not sure if I could have faced a third visit to the dining room for breakfast. My husband summed it up saying lovely charming hotel, a little tired and dated in areas and an owner that most probably is doing the same routine that he has always done.

Little bit of heaven
This converted castle over looks the beautiful La Rioja wine country. The rooms are decorated with period furniture each with its own theme. The owner , Javier, takes special attenion with every detail. We loved the tower view too
