The hotel is undergoing renovations (not mentioned at the time of booking), with the swimming pool closed, no restaurant or food service, no laundry service and generally in a very run-down condition, although the location is ideal. I was left waiting at the airport, even though I had pre-booked and confirmed directly with the hotel for a pickup. Even the airport staff couldn't contact the hotel by phone to find out if they were en route for the pickup, leaving me wondering if they were still open for business! When I finally arrived by local taxi, I was "upgraded" as an apology. In the "upgraded" room the electrical sockets were coming away from the wall, the door lock didn't work (looked like it have previously been ripped off its hinges) and generally the whole property was very run-down and disappointing. I also couldn't manage to get a cake of soap from housekeeping or reception, so ended up buying my own from a local shop. The only "renovation work" I could see being undertaken during my stay was some plastering of walls in one of the many empty rooms. I must say the staff were always friendly and courteous, but then again they didn't have much to do!
